Sounds like a waste of time trying to bypass it anyway. The starter has nothing to do with it. It's the way the ignition is wired. The switched lead opens during the cranking cycle. Weird. My HU is right to the batt and still cuts out on start up......... Your entire truck is an electrical gremlin. The HU should not shut off unless you're around 10 volts. If you're dropping that low at startup, you need a new battery, or something us wrong with your starter. Not saying you are wong, but it happened on my jetta too.
