only problem with shotgun for home is recoil. and for a beginner, that recoil can spell the end of shooting. that said, most everyone has shot a shotgun at one point or another in their life. ammuntiontogo.com is your friend! i just picked up 500rds of 45acp (cci blazer aluminum) for $165 shipped to my door. got it in two days. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I have never had any issues with recoil on a 12 gauge..... I'm a BIG guy though... And I suppose if you are talking slugs.. Then that's different. I never did respond to the shotgun thing... I completely agree with the shotgun being the best for home defence too, but you have hit the nail on the head with the nightstand talk. That and the lady feels akward with it. I hope when she comes to the range she becomes more relaxed. I plan to bring the shotgun too. We have a beautiful pistol grip folding stock so it's a bit more accessable, but technicaly it's my roomates and it stays in his room 99% of the time. that is a great lift to weight ratio! My best was when I did 8 reps of 310 when I weighed 260ish. now i'm 360 and benched 200.... so effing sad. I just dropped one of my Rx's as it really slowed my metabolism. I thought it was all water weight at first but it basical turned my v12 metabolism into a 4 cylinder. life gets in the way. I think I have it all stable enough where I can get it under controll now though... get back to 6-8 meals a day and the protein I need with the right fats.

To the OP. What you should really learn from this is that you should #1 consider a different amp. Yes it will throw power. But why risk your subs for a budget amp. This sounds like you have mainly SPL in mind. Find out if you which enclosure will be possible to accomidate. A GREAT sub in a chitty enclosure will still sound like cow dung.
