i hate south florida. no comps or tl's around here. have to travel for thats stuff. i have mine in 4 cubes at 30hz in a hatch. i'll post when i get metered though!
  2. 4 cubes at 30hz for a rl-p 15.
  3. the reason for 45's mostly would be to reduce port noise as mentioned in t-lines and other ported alignments as well. using them in an aero port (pvc in this case) or sealed box wouldn't yield any benefits.

i didt use mdf, i used some furniture grade wood that was like birch or something, its great to work with and lighter than mdf but a little stronger i think. i its nothing like what builds i see on this forum but i plan to stain it soon and might re sued the amp racks to black depending on how it looks. i still have some sanding to do but i have zero port noise so not much sanding there.

i went with the 4 cube enclosure!! dry fit http://a121.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/image...de366f242d8.jpg thanks to brian for the wood and help! http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_image...40_106_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_image...40_108_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_image...40_109_full.jpg http://a685.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/image...eed965c9c8c.jpg some vids http://www.teamssaudio.com/video/play.php?vid=202 http://www.teamssaudio.com/video/play.php?vid=203 it came out great, loots of output, so much i turned my gain down to better blend with the front stage. it sounds amazing still and its just what i wanted out of it. though i wouldn't mind losing some output for a lower tune.
  6. which would be the full size one? all i see is the thumb nails and direct links on the bottom.
  7. sweet thanks! its about time i learn this crap, i have html codes down for links and pics just not used to the forum making it easier. thanks again.
  8. how do you make them bigger?
  9. cshaw replied to cshaw's topic in Build Logs
yeah i was leaning towards the larger box. i think just going from sealed to ported will give me my desired output and maybe then some, i still desire the flattest response i can get as well hince not tuning a bit higher as suggested. though i doubt i will notice a change in tuning of 2 hz or so anyway.
  10. alright so i currently have the rl-p in 3 cubes sealed. sounds sweet, just not that great of lows and just a tad under how much output i wish to have. i am currently writing up 2 box plans 1 of which i will choose and build tomorrow. they are as follows. 4 cubes at 30hz with 55.5 square inched of port area 3.5 cubes at 28.5hz with 40 square inches of port area. see any problems with the designs or favor one over the other? opinions? this build is in a hatch and it will be sub up port back. double baffled and 45's at the all corners if i can help it (limited tools here) also if interested, to see what im dealing with, check out my gallery for unfinished pics of the current setup of said sealed box. i carpeted it black since then.
  11. i have mine at 60-3k at 24/db crossover. with mmats tweeter that can ply down to 3000hz. sounds pretty good, i just have to deaden my doors for improved mid bass response and im set!!
  12. i think its sooooo freakin sad you put all this hard work into these great boxes of yours and you never get to hear what they sound like!!
  13. yeah they are suppose to taper near the end of the port to reduce standing waves. but sub frequencies are not short enough to create them. at least this is my info on tl- boxes for full range speakers, dont know if it applies to this or not
  14. yeah t-lines will be way more efficient than the normal sealed or porte boxes power wise. looks god man! i cant wait to build one of these for a local around here to see how they sound. although im going to put 45 peices in the corners.
  15. i heard a little bit of mars volta before that show and i like them. i went to the mars volta/system of a down show and was blown away, best concert or pretty close to it that ive ever been to! though system was better at their last show before splitting up. man i had great seats for both concerts.
  16. i didt realize how big it actually was lol just put it on the nearest publix scale! those things go to 3-400 pounds haha
  17. ive got mine in 3 cubes sealed after disp. on a crossfire bmf1000d about 1200 rms. its all i could want for a daily driver setup. sweet sq and gets loud and flat response as well. although i want to build a ported box for it to switch out for when i want it to wang! haha. i want to know what others are doing ported wise as well, so post em up people!!
  18. i will be! lol i think they would be awesome in a 2 way where someone ist satisfied with the mid bass out of theirs or just add to make a kick ass 3 way!
  19. good question, which way is the port facing? not sure for suv's but the crx style box (subs up port back) or all facing back has always worked for me in my hatchback.
  20. i say get another orion and build a box as close to the original one but with the subs facing backwards. my rlp-15 loves 1200 rms, then again its in a sealed box. but cant wait to build the ported one. :drink40:
  21. mach5audio is out of canada. not sure where ssa is. found out they shipped the larger drivers first so... im out of town and got worried my MLI's were sitting on the door step!
  22. you already got your stuff? wow that was fast. how close are you to them?
  23. i hear this sub does exceptionally better in ported applications than sealed? in the future im looking at building a 3.5 ported box at 30 hz. so i hear they sound good in that type of box
  24. yeah the box is 3 cubes after sub displacement so after ports, if its to small and sounds weird i could always invert the sub (its in a hatchback! looks sick like that might i add) and turn the box into a crx type deal and gain an extra .2 of space for the ports. i hear this sub does exceptionally better in ported applications than sealed?
  25. i have a rl-p 15 and built the recommended 3 cubes sealed box for it. sounds great, just not that great of output. ive always had sealed boxes and my last setup 3 10's jl w3's was louder than this lol. had a bit more cone area but anyway you get my point. since everyone says this sub does better in ported enclosures, i was thinking of just adding 2 4' psp ports tuned to 30hz to the current 3 cube box instead of building a second box like i planned. im not an spl nut at all, i just need something with like (trying not to use the term LSQ here) some sqballs! lol would 3 cubes ported be to small for a 15?
