  1. JL uses some crazy dimensions on their stuff. Id need to know motor dimensions for coils. frame size ect. If I get some spare change, I'll just ship you the motor. I couldn't care less about their basket, and I'd rather make it a 12 or 15 anyway.
  2. Tried that.... a lot of times, no point whatsoever. * And I'm the dreaded LP user. Still won't fork it out for expensive speakers that don't meet my goals.
  3. Focals still for sale. $100 shipped.
  4. I have a 10w6v2 motor that "can't be reconed" without JL's big ass price tag. Is that possible to be fixed up to running?
  5. Buy a Dovo. Can't really beat em, just watch out for knock offs. And go here http://straightrazorplace.com/forum.php This is what I use. http://www.straightrazordesigns.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=749
  6. Now that you are back do you stick with the mach 3? I never knew there was so much subculture about shaving and bearding. Lol Now I'm out the service, I shave once a week with a straight razor. This may sound stupid but shaving with a straight razor gives you a nice little break from the world, because you kind of have to take one. No lie, I usually put on some Orchestral music on, close and lock the bathroom door, and take my time. Any loud noises can startle you and that isn't exactly ideal when you have a blade at your throat.
  7. I'm sorry I lol'd. That is terrifying to me.
  8. If you want it that small there's a mono PBR, don't bridge those. You can light a cigarette off of them bridged. Arc Audio KS500.1 mini is the bee's knee's for tiny and powerful.
  9. I used to only use a straight razor until I deployed. It wasn't really an option over there because you're already 10 times prone to infection. So while deployed I tried the Gillette and Schick 5 blade. Found I was happier with the simple Mach 3 blade. My beard is VERY thick.
  10. Money permitting, I'll probably just grab a pair of IDQ's if I can get em for dirt until the Primo is born, then I will be first in line to snatch that baby while it still has the umbilical cord attached.
  11. Everybody's all celebrating Ethos performance,
  12. Yea, the old school vibe is great but only to a point. I was planning on purchasing an LP 8002 but the price vs return wasn't doing it for me. I'd love to do some Crystals. Those were always the ones I couldn't afford, but I decided I will wait. I'll probably buy the Helix SPXL1000B (I sell Helix so price is very low), and wait for the Primos. I misread his thread confusing overhang with underhung, but these are still the woofers I want to run. Unfortunately I'll be waiting for awhile, but that's ok. I'm stockpiling parts for the build anyway. Q's woofers really impress me, from the C/S, the honesty, the information, everything. And I was pretty much wanting to buy two 12-15's to run sealed, and the Primo fits every single aspect I'm looking for. I'm calling you out Q! I'm your guinea pig.
  13. Oh yes, but as soon as Q said he might make an underhung sub, I nixed the Ethos. Might even wait for this new Gem I won't be making an underhung. MMAG yes but not underhung. Just about the only thing that makes an underhang different than overhang is the inductance increase which in a subwoofer your not going to hear the difference (inductance rating is at 1k hertz anyway). If "SQ" is what you want at a decent amount of output then you are going to want overhang. Just as an example. The Ethos' motor is linear (point of audible distortion) to 32.5mm one way. You would need a HUGE top plate for an underhung motor to be linear that much. My softparts are linear to ~23mm one way. Technically the sub as a whole would be classified as linear to 23mm one way. As in no audible distortion up till that point. This is verified by Klippel and results has been posted here on the site. I challenge any company here or on any other forum to show proof of their published parameters. Well now...
  14. Oh yes, but as soon as Q said he might make an underhung sub, I nixed the Ethos. Might even wait for this new Gem
  15. I'm not completely sold on using the 8002, I might consider IDMAX's even if I could find a pair that wasn't outrageously priced. I'm just trying to find something that will give me significant output across the board in a sealed enclosure, the smaller the better.
  16. This song's bass line has been a fairly good example of what has bothered me in all ported enclosures.
  17. Hey guys, so I'm looking for some pro input. Mids/Highs - EJS Audio Full Size Horns under the dash *powered by Linear Power 2202 (mod)@ 110 x 2 @ 4 ohm load. Midbass - Undecided at this point, might even be running ID8v1 or v2's in the doors *powered by Linear power 3002 (mod) @ 175 x 2 @ 4/8 ohm load. Subs - This is where I'm a little stuck. I'm trying to snag as much cone area as I can because we'll be in the trunk running two drivers. I'm probably going to be running 15's because I've got 3-5 cu ft to work with and I'll be running sealed. I know that running one driver ported will get me more output, but some music I listen to has very fast bass transitions that do not sound good to me regardless of driver or box. I will be powering the subs with a Linear Power 8002 (mod) giving me approx 800 RMS to play with, so I'm considering 2 Flatlyne 15's, 2 GCON's, or ?? Let me know what you think.
  18. For the same size sub I would buy a sundown before a skar. I have no idea how they sound, nor perform. Sundown on the other hand is very reliable and their customer service is FAR superior, ask phatboi. But if I had to choose between buying a real Rolex for 10k and a knockoff for 11k, I'd be stupid to buy the fake.

  20. Thanks for the info Brad. I'll have my guy fill me in on the mods and post em up
  21. For my application, I had new banana style screw in terminals added instead of the plug ins, tl0 op amps replaced, just a few little things. *I don't really consider the new larger pig tails a mod or upgrade. I just use Stinger Pro in all my installs so I had the pigtails matched.
  22. The new LP stuff is pretty expensive, and I found I could get the old stuff at a decent price. The modding and refinishing is where the money comes in. I guess the nice part is that I'm really not in any hurry and my buddy and his dad worked for LP when they were here. I have a lot of faith in his work, so I'm doing fine money-wise. It's actually kind of fun trying to find specific old pieces. Originally it was going to be a 1002 or 1502 for the highs, but a 2202 came along at a price I couldn't pass up, so I had to grab her. She goes under the knife next week.
