Thanks for the tip Sean. I borrowed some 18 inch rubber boots with a low insulation weight. I thought a 3/4" sole would've provided enough barrier from the ice but maybe not. Time to find boots of my own.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas! Spent the weekend at my uncle's place. My cousins got some cool toys and we had a great time testing them out. We went ice fishing yesterday with a Vexilar FL-18 Linky here. It is literally shooting fish in a barrel with that thing. It shows you your jig, the fish, and the bottom. Just lower your jig down to a fish, give a few tugs, and prepare to set the hook. I see it as a cheater method but sunnies are too damn good to argue. Siting in my uncle's pop-up ice shack from 1981, my feet started to get fairly cold. I had thermal socks on but they just weren't good enough. I've looked at Cabela's, REI, and Bass Pro and there are a ton of options. I really have no reference to go off of. Does anybody have any recommendations or at least some advice on what to look for? It rarely gets below 0 here so they don't have to be too extreme.

Back from my short vacation to Minnesota to see my friends and family. It was a good trip and I'm glad I got out of Minnesota before the storm really hit hard. Felt bad for my mom driving back from Minneapolis in the nasty weather though. Cheese - sorry to hear about the 350z. Any aches and pains after a couple days? For those of you with gripes about the government agencies, all I will say is there are some who are in a constant fight to dispel the barrage of boneheads.

Started snowing at 9:45 and accumulated less than an inch by 10:15. Higher ups decide the inclement weather is too much and sent us all home. Yay for the South hating snow! Now what to do with the rest of my day...

The math doesn't really scare me much. I'm an Electronics Tech for the gov't so I have a basic understanding of what's involved and decent math skills. I've been slacking big time on learning more so I can start up working on Home Theater and Car Audio again. I'd like to make more informed purchases this time around with a plan I can successfully execute.

Thanks Sean! I don't want to drive up to Dulles because its ~2 hours in good traffic and once I get to Minneapolis, I drive 2 hours south to Winona. Looks like flights are 450-500 for RIC to MSP. Guess I'll just have to suck it up a spend ze monies.

what airport are you flying from? RIC - Richmond, VA. Flying into Minneapolis to try and save some money. I could save more if I flew out of Dulles or National up by DC but that really is not an option to me.

Oh yeah and thanks to those here who put a bug in my head about the Lotus Elise... I'm looking at getting one in the next 5 years. But of course all dependent on if I keep on moving up the GS pay scale!

Trying to find flights back to Minnesota but I want to go around Christmas which is not exactly cheap... I would like to see the numbers on how much a person costs the airline when they fly. Maybe their prices are entirely justifiable.

It's time to start working out again. First set of goals will be add 7-10 pounds of muscle and increase the vertical jump by 8 inches. I'm not bulking up, it seems counter-productive to my second goal. That goal of 8 inches is a little lofty but I think with the right mix of plyometrics and strength training it should be attainable. I would love to to touch 11 feet as a 5'10" white boy!
