It's ok to be bias. feel free to have your opinion. That may be true and it may not. One good thing about our society is that if companies raise prices to make up for losses, people will find the product cheaper from another company, perhaps a smaller, start-up type place. Or mom and pop shop. Which that would be good for us. But if the big company has a large market share or near monopoly that probably wouldn't happen. People would just bitch and moan about it. But really I think it's a decent idea. People who make that much money deserve it, IMO. Are they working a lot harder than you/me to earn 100 times the pay? In 99% of cases, no. But for companies I think it's tough. We don't want to penalize those that expand and grow because that's what the market is all about. But then it's those companies that make that much just by having a huge market share or what have you and gouge the consumer that I hate. I have this thing about always seeing situations from both sides and hardly ever being able to decide which is better. It's a curse. 250k is way too low. Go out and survey what small businesses make and really hard working individuals. When you put your heart and soul into something versus someone who glides by you shouldn't have to pay a tax penalty. These are NOT the people we want to demotivate. The end result will be that everyone suffers as all goods will end up coming from overseas someplace if we demotivate the wrong sector. you may be right about that. 250k is too low. And no I wouldn't want to demotivate people, the last thing I would want is more outsourcing and importing.

ha you watched that too? I was with my gf flipping channels when it came on. She didn't recommend me getting the surgery, even in a joking manner, which I expected. So I must be ok.
  3. Anything but the ED. And also don't get the AQ. The orion would be better. What kind of box are these going in? In that smallish car two 15s would be crazy loud no matter what. I'd do two Qs in a sealed box with 1200-1500 watts of power.
  4. it would work great.
  5. oh, now I see. Reading > me. I like the first one. It has nice lines. The 5th one with the waterfall is also awesome, very vivid (and I really like water in streams). But #6 with the tree roots is incredible. It's almost surreal, as if it was computer generated. Great assortment of colors.
  6. What exactly is bridging? Sharing power between channels to add resistance? No, there is no resistance added when bridging. It's just a way to use the power of both channels instead of 1. For instance, if you have a 4 ohm speaker and a 2 channel amp rated at 50 x 2 @ 4 ohms, 100 x 2 @ 2 ohms, and 200 x 1 @ 4 ohms bridged, you could either wire the speaker up to one channel and get 50 watts to it, or bridge the amp and get 200 watts to the speaker.
  7. your gf jacked up the price on you? man, that's cold.

But necessary when dealing with power wire that could start a fire or leave you stranded on the road.
  9. Some people swear by there Monster cables. I wonder if there is any truth to there boner. No. For everything I've done I just buy pretty much the cheapest stuff. wire is wire, no need to pay for the name on the jacket. RCAs can be different though, but not because of the quality of wire. It usually comes down to the ends and how well they stay connected to both the cable and the RCA input on the amp/HU/whatever. and yeah, $140 is way too much for a 1/0 kit.
  10. There is normally a switch to turn the low pass filter on. Then you turn the crossover frequency to whatever you want the low pass filter to be at. The subsonic should have its own on switch and frequency dial. You'd probably want to set that to 25-30 hz.
  11. right. Your amp doesn't have a low pass crossover? You can use both the subsonic and low pass on the amp, it's not one or the other.
  12. why do you think you need a 2 ohm load? Because your amp box says 2 ohm stable? Read the fine print, and you'll likely see that 2 ohm stable is in stereo. Which means it's stable to 4 ohms when bridged, which is what you would want to do if you have a 2 ohm DVC sub to run on it.
  13. 5.5 cubes for 2 18s is way too little space. Even 8 cubes is too little IMO. You need a bigger box overall.

I've ran wire both ways. There really isn't anything wrong with either if done properly, and both can be done wrong. The time I ran the power wire under the car I bought some extra plastic sheeting and put it over the wire, just for extra protection.

Not a bad box. The tuning is a bit high for my tastes, though. But maybe not yours.

Well I almost got hit on my bike today. I was crossing a street (with the walk signal) and a lady turned left right in front of me. Had to test the limits of my brakes, and only my superpower of being able to anticipate stupid people's actions saved me I think. I hope it ruins her night and she feels really bad for at least a day.

WINNAR!!1 haha wtf? Is he hoping to save the car or the tree? haha
  20. That was obvious.
  21. if the external crossover is a subsonic filter, then there is obviously no difference. If the external crossover is a low pass filter, then your amp should have one, so no difference again (unless different slopes).
  22. I'm not sure I follow the comparison. Those are two very different boxes and would yield very different results. I would understand more if the tunings were similar. Is that 8 cubes total or per sub? What are you after with this setup (lows, loud, efficient, etc)?
  23. I always remove my faceplate when I take it to a shop.
  24. you don't. If it's like most class A/B 2 channels, you can bridge the amplifier and put a 4 ohm load on it, which is what your sub would be if you wire the coils in series.
