  1. the SI Mag only comes in 12" so if you choose that, that's what you get. Unless you go used and get a previous version. I'd do 2 sealed of those.
  2. $17 cables have never given me a problem.
  3. good stuff. I had an ST-1000D and it was solid. Did right at rated power.

J/C is a pretty trashy place.... i lived on post for a few months.... Junction City or Junction? Ain't chit in Junction last I checked...there was a gas station though... junction city, kansas.
  5. well......you need a good electrical system to handle any big amp.
  6. could probably find some used 2 channel crossfire amps on ebay for that. Or is the sub a 4 ohm DVC?

man, junction city is the suck. Ate at a Denny's last night (coworker's suggestion as it was right next door to the hotel) and it was probably the greatest gathering of white trash I have ever seen. I left no tip, she didn't either. first i had no silverware, then my waffle didn't come with the strawberry topping I ordered, then my lemonade had no lemon flavor.
  8. it's probably a "burp" amp because of the fusing. 200 amps won't last long for an amp rated for, what, 7kw? I mean think about it. you'd have to pull abou 700 amps to get 7000 watts. If you are pounding that much wattage through a 200 amp fuse, it will pop in a few seconds. but if all you need is a few seconds to burp, it will work. I assume this is for those comps that break you into classes based on fuse size.
  9. what about adding another baffle on the front of the box to bring the sub out a little more? I assume the basket it hitting the MDF for the top/bottom? It may not look the best but you could build a bigger baffle to go on the front and that should give you the clearance for the basket to clear the second (original) baffle. if you don't want to build another box, that is. Or else put the sub on a different face.

Have the 40 hour Osha HAZWOPER training this week.
  11. was the sub too tall for the front baffle or what?

    what does he do?
  13. ratio of 8:1 or less. vertical or horizontal doesn't matter, because flip the box and horizontal becomes vertical, ha. The reason for not having a long, narrow port has to do with surface area. The more rectangular a port is, the more surface area it has, and thus more resistance to air flow.

ha well after I got back to the exam room she said "you don't look so good, are you all right?" I said yeah i guess i just got light headed standing up after having that blood taken. She said "well, you're in the best place to pass out." I'da lived.
  15. no your number of drivers aren't cut in half. You just have to use more amplifier channels. So instead of using just a 2 channel for your fronts like you would with a passive crossover system, you use a 4 channel amplifier for the front stage. Active is advantageous because you can control the crossover points as well as the power going to each driver. You can also decide the slope of the crossover if you choose to by buying a crossover suitable to your wants.
  16. i'm not sure I know what you mean. By 2 way crossover do you mean a passive crossover in the speaker wires or a crossover in the signal chain? both can be 2 way crossovers, and both still need an amp. Active needs each speaker on its own channel.
  17. try searching for threads here. lots of info and links within.

Be thankful you don't have to have an anal probe. that's true. good luck. Just waxed the Explorer. Man it's hot as blazes out there, even in the shade. I looked like I just took a jump into a swimming pool with all my clothes on. I was having a hard time keeping my sweat from dripping onto the panels I was working on. Wednesday I had to do a physical for work and one thing they had to do was draw blood. I think they drew......maybe 20 ml? into a syringe. Then the nurse was like ok let's go get a urine sample. So I got up, not 5 seconds removed from having the blood drawn. I guess that wasn't too awesome of an idea. As I got out the door and started walking down the hall the walls started creeping in and blackness and very blurry/nonexistant vision took over. I could barely make out outlines of things, and luckily the nurse was wearing a very dark colored shirt and the walls were white because I could just barely make out the difference of the two and just followed the dark blob. my legs felt strong and fine, I just couldn't see. I saw her stop so I figured we were at the bathroom, so i reached my hands out to try to feel the door jam. I couldn't see my hands but i felt them find the door and I kinda guided myself in. Then things started to slowly clear up, but I started just pouring sweat. I looked in the mirror and i was pale as a ghost except for reddish purple rings under my eyes. During all this I was like man this is the weirdest thing ever, it kinda freaked me out. Then after I got back to the room I was like man, that was awesome.

I didn't go to bed till 1:30 last night and yet I still woke up at 7 today even though I don't have to work. dammit. I wanted more sleep.
  20. There are 10 mm in a cm and 2.54 cm in an inch. So 25.4 mm in an inch. That's what I always remember as my baseline for how far things move in inches. So with your 3/4" baffle the sub will only be moving out an extra .3 of an inch or so. based on where I guesstimate your sub is within that ring, you'll be fine.
  21. yeah I popped in at about 1:00 last night for the first time ever and saw your name in there as the only person. But then I popped back out and went to bed.
  22. I wouldn't worry about not having a double front baffle. That box is so small that I don't really know that it would help at all. and as for space concerns, I'd try it with that size for a while to see how you like it, then maybe add polyfill as others have suggested and compare. You can always take the polyfill back out.

oops i signed off right after posting that.
  25. port off axis means the port and sub are on two different faces of the box. e.g.- sub up, port back.
