I don't know that the Lakers can win all 3 consecutively at home. I think it'll go back to Boston 3-2 Celtics.

my brother got married this last saturday. It was a real fun weekend. They had a metal arch over them while they were doing the ceremony and the wind almost knocked it over in the middle of it. But I caught it. Not sure if my brother and his wife noticed or not, probably not. But after the ceremony one of my brother's friends said "That was a great save, you probably saved the wedding. Too bad that also lost you the MVP of the ceremony because if that would have fell we could have won $100,000 on funniest home videos." haha. I also spent about 6 hours total in the casino between saturday night and sunday and came out 10 dollars ahead. Not too bad I say. Had my normal down-on-the-slots-but-made-it-up-on-roulette thing going on. Maybe I should just play roulette all the time. ha. But slots are fun.

does anybody know why my shoulder hurts a lot? It's like a nagging thing, not a sharp pain but dull and irritating and zaps all my motivation. It's kinda right in the middle of my shoulder. Not up top on that muscle connecting to the neck, but just under it. I've felt it or some lesser version of it for the last few months. I'm wondering if it's because my right arm is propped up on the computer desk all day at work now, since I've started working full time at this place in January.

yeah I just drink tap. MUUUUUCH cheaper and still has some minerals in it (dependant on where you live).
  5. maybe he likes more midrange/midbass? I don't know, I was just trying to clarify.

So......the lesson of the day is that 30% HCl stings a little.

read it all fast Yeah, and have to have it all read before you can post in it again.
  8. I believe he's running 4 mids and 2 tweets total, or 2 mids and a tweet per side.
  9. so there are no requirements with the crossover i chose to buy? what qualities make a crossover good? I'm not sure I know what you mean by "requirements." A good crossover really depends on the person. The right crossover point for the drivers in question is pretty universal, but beyond that it's kind open. Some people like low slopes, some like steep slopes, some like the sound of certain passive components, some would rather have passive than active or vice versa, etc. Audiocontrol makes some good active crossovers, maybe look into those if you don't have enough processing power on your head unit or amp.

haha thanks. My girlfriend says the same thing. hmm.......
  11. yes, but again, that's on the signal side of things. Any of that bass boost, volume knob, gain, etc. That can cause clipping no matter if your electrical system can provide enough power or not. Now I agree with you that some people turn it up louder because their electrical system is at it's limit (or more). That's because their amp is putting out less power because the electrical system is bogged down. But not having a large enough electrical system in and of itself does not cause clipping.

nice job. great sub, too. pics of it!

plants in space is a cool idea. But would they always have to have them next to the little cockpit window? haha. Unless they use UV lights on spaceshuttles. Cool idea to try and kill two birds with one stone though.

haha goobers. I'm typing with latex gloves on. If you leave them on for a couple hours and then take them off your hands feel so refreshed. Or probably they're more just like aaaaaah air!.
  15. not generally the case. An amp with an unregulated power supply will just put out less power with a lower input voltage. An amp with a regulated power supply will pull more current as the voltage drops so that it can keep the output power the same. Clipping generally occurs on the signal side of the equation, when the input voltage from the HU is higher than the amp's gain setting.
  16. not exactly true. You can clip a 50 watt amp all you want but it won't blow a 200 watt sub.
  17. he needs to learn how to spell and form sentences. moron.
  18. DIY stands for Do It Yourself. Meaning instead of buying an off-the-shelf speaker system already packaged together, you buy the speakers and crossovers all separate and piece it together yourself. Often you can get better results this way. I know M5 and a bunch of others are big proponents of front-only sound, but I like rear fill in my car. It's personal preference. I don't think you need anything more than a pair of coaxials in the back, though. I'd definitely spend the most money on the front stage. Do you know if you like metal or silk tweeters? Are you more after good midrange clarity or good midbass kick? These kinds of questions can help narrow down which speakers would be good for you. If you don't want to do the pieced together system, we can offer some component sets. But 5x7 component sets are both hard to come by and not great. So do you think you can build some baffles to change that 5x7 hole into a 5.25 or 6.5" round hole? It simply requires cutting out a piece of wood and cutting the new speaker's size inside of it, and sticking that in the factory spot.
  19. actually it really is about the power. A speaker doesn't care about the distortion in the signal. If you want evidence just look at guitarists who crank up distortion to get a unique sound. The problem with clipping is that there is extra power being sent. So while you may have a 1000 watt amp on a 1000 watt sub, if you clip the amp you could be sending 1500+ watts.

    douche. bag.
  21. Just because he has amps rated at 5000 watts doesn't mean he uses all of it.
  22. I believe that deck has a crossover on it for the tweeters. and the mids. hence the run active suggestion. and no, you don't need external crossovers because the deck has them. Do we need to point you to some sites that explain active vs. passive crossovers for you?

Oh no, you're fine. I wasn't thinking about buying a hot car at all. Well, unless I can save up enough to buy a Lamborghini. That's about the only one I want that's in that hot car category for me.
  24. Sounds like you cooked the voice coils. I really doubt that FI would cover user abuse though. But yeah you do need a recone to fix it. No matter what you think, if you burnt the voice coils you were pushing too much power through it. You'll need to adjust (aka lower) your gain. You might have only had it halfway up this time, but maybe last time you were pushing it full tilt it did damage.
