redo your head unit and EQ ground as well. your radio takes 2 minutes to get going? What is it? That's abnormal.

Understanding/dealing with cabin gain
hmm. guess I've never gotten into the wavelength side of the equation. However, given that, shouldn't a truck with less airspace that's maximized with it's proper wavelength still be louder than a larger vehicle maximized with it's proper wavelength, given the same equipment, because of less air?

Daz & Kurupt song title
If somebody can somehow answer this you'll have ended a search of over a year for me (off and on, mostly off though). It's on a video I have of some kids c-walking but the audio isn't very good, the speakers were too loud for the camera to pick up very well and it's distorted. Like in most of their songs, Daz and Kurupt say their names in the song, which is how I know it's them. The music is very upbeat and kinda fast, which is a little out of character for these two. Pieces of the lyrics: "Daz Dillinger, the number one ? North cal gangsta, the one that's in the ?" "we be giving it up, whippin to flippin you up, what Kurupt and playa rep we be giving it up." "riding shotgun, I'm the shotgun, back door and out the window ready to pop one" the chorus sounds something like "rock your body" but it's all muffled. I know it's a far out question. but maybe i'll get lucky.

Power Question
ha I was thinking the same thing when I read that.
-
Box output question
perhaps you forget that with only one sub the impedence will be twice as much so he'll only get about half power. so each sub will see ~550 watts whether he has one or two. and I'd do two. You will gain peak output. Might have a tad less low end since the rolloff will start higher, but that will probably only be under 40 hz and only a couple db's.

Welcome to the IHoP
Oh I guess I didn't know they overhauled the new ones so much, to the tune of 550 horse. wow. well, time to leave work and ride my bike home against 30-40 mph winds for about 2 miles. this is gonna be awesome. not.

Welcome to the IHoP
One of my friends has one of those. Maybe a 2007 though? It's pretty awesome. obviously fast, looks/feels great. and the radio even says "Hello Brett" in big letters on the screen when he starts it.

Welcome to the IHoP
I'd definitely buy a house with land. bass pond in the backyard! I'm very much hoping whenever (if ever) I get married it will be very small. like.....10 people. But I'm positive my gf of two years has a very different idea in her head of what she'd want. sigh.

yay for Rock's birthday! topgun- your grill inquiry is....interesting. I'm sure you could do it. I've always just used charcoal when grilling though (which I'm beginning to dislike because of the time involved, and why not just use gas? Much cheaper too). I guess M5 has it covered

Greedy Rich Oil Mother F*ckers
this has kinda got my mind going. I'm a free thinker and carry an open mind, so don't take any of my suggestions personally. If you provide evidence to the contrary of my way of thinking, I have no qualms about switching my position. I don't know everything there is about the world and I enjoy gaining more from people who have more experience. With that said, a thing that popped into my mind a few minutes ago was whether Americans would be better off with just a little more government control, at least in the oil area. I know many of you will say "oh my god, I can't believe you just said that, that's sacrelige in this country." But this is what I pondered: Those countries on the low end of that gas price list have governments that control the oil field. There aren't as many private companies like there are in the US, which lives (and may someday) die by capitalism. That article said that those countries keep the gas price down to help their citizens. Then there are countries in Europe who tax the heck out of gas, the article said up to 75% of the $5-6 a gallon gas (as compared to 14% in the US). Shouldn't we be a little happy that we don't have governments like those? That article said that over half of the price of gas goes to the oil companies. If you combined the oil companies and the governmental tax, that's about 70% of the price. But if the two were joined, wouldn't it be reasonable to say that this number would fall because there are fewer hands to dip into it? Even if it fell to 50% (which I figure it would drop even more), that's a savings of 50 cents per gallon. Plus if the government controlled it, oil jobs would pay less (good for us non-oil people, obviously bad for those in it). As some of you may know, state/government jobs are pretty tight with their pay rates, and everything is equal across the board in the same position. You wouldn't have CEO's making 60 million a year, they'd probably make 500,000. But then there is the downfall of the government controlling more things, which may be the slower economy that some of those countries have. I'm eager to hear what people have to say to this because it's against most people's beliefs about what government should do. Don't worry, I'm not going down the road of communism. I know and agree with how awful that is. But sometimes it seems capitalism has many downfalls itself.

Greedy Rich Oil Mother F*ckers
another thing is that americans were spoiled in the 90's when gas was so cheap. Historically, $3 a gallon is about where it's always been when adjusted for inflation, but the 90's dipped below that. I'll have to try and find that graph I saw. We are also unaware of the prices in other nations, most of which are higher than ours. http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/global_gasprices/ But also notice on there how it says taxes play a large part in a country's gas prices. I know I've seen a graph that breaks down america's gas price into where all the money goes. I'll have to find it again. I thought it was like 25% taxes though. well, here's an article that lists it out: http://www.cnn.com/2007/LIVING/studentnews...ices/index.html

Greedy Rich Oil Mother F*ckers
I ride my bike to work as much as possible, only about twice a week now though because of weather. But when summer hits I expect my Explorer to sit for 4-5 days at a time. There are a couple issues when dealing with oil. We import about half of our oil because it's actually cheaper to buy from overseas and transport it here, and we export a lot of the oil from Alaska to Japan because, again, it's actually cheaper to transport and export it there than to the continental US. But yeah I agree that a lot of it is just greed. The oil field is one of the best paying jobs for the skill set of the employee from CEO all the way down to oil derrick hand. You can make twice as much working on an oil rig as another similar job that has you doing manual labor outside in all weather conditions. I just watched a show on oil drillers in northern alaska and they said that they make 6 figures for the 6 months they are there. One of the other things i hate is that you have these greedy kings or power holding people in the middle east in places like UAE who have like 90% of the money in the entire country. These dudes have so much money that they build stupid islands in the shape of palm trees and a 2,000+ foot building, while 90% of the people in that country can barely feed themselves every day. I mean it makes sense in one way because bringing in tourism could provide more jobs, but I don't think tourism is the best way to go about it. Give the people more concrete jobs that don't depend on people choosing to come to your country. But that leads into another problem, which is just what are these people to do in a country of sand? there really aren't a lot of other industries.

Welcome to the IHoP
yep. we smoked some salmon I caught in Alaska at their place this last weekend. Got a little overdone though because we weren't sure how long it would take, so it was starting to get dry. But can't complain too much, it was still really good.

it's really a moisture problem with putting them in doors. If you cover/wrap the crossovers in something to keep them dry they'll be ok though. I usually like to hide my crossovers somewhere up front just so that I don't have to run two pairs of wires from back to front on each side, but that's not a huge deal.

Welcome to the IHoP
we did. at about 1:00 I woke up and it was like a monsoon outside. absolutely pouring and the winds had to be 80 mph. I think there were only a few drops of small hail with this one though, thankfully. There have been reports of trees up to 20 inches thick breaking, blown transformer put 8000 people without power, and some building damage. I can't find a site that gives today's precipitation, only yesterdays. But we had to have gotten at least an inch in the 30 or so minutes that the storm was passing. Be careful if you're in this storm's path. i'm a little nervous to go out and see my car. I'm a bit afraid I'll see a branch sticking through the windshield or something. But at least it's friday. My gf's parents bought me a smoker for my birthday last week, might have to try it out if I have enough time on sunday and the weather cooperates.

loudest daily driver with atomic 5000.1
I know I was taking it to an extreme, I told you I was being a smartass. Just having some fun with it. But still, I don't know how a funky pup would ever be as loud as an MT, especially with 5000 watts. Not only would the funky pup probably blow before a db reading could even take place, but if you build such a wrong box for the MT that it's not louder, you're being as extreme a smartass as I was.

are those rear speakers in the rear door or just in the sides in the back? If they're in a rear door that would just be a lot of unnecessary work to put all the wires through the door jam. but if you just have a 2 door and they're in the back, no there's really nothing wrong with it.

loudest daily driver with atomic 5000.1
Interesting. So you could make one of these: as loud as one of these: ? I'm not usually a smartass. Just in that mood tonight I guess. I would just modify that to say getting the loudest possible is almost all in the install and the box/sub mating combination. As I'm sure you know different drivers like different box alignments. I'm guessing with an amp of that nature your budget is pretty healthy? Any specific number or size you'd like?

Welcome to the IHoP
yep, definitely about to have severe weather in about an hour. radar looks even worse than the first one. maybe I'll go strap all the pillows I have onto the top and hood of my Explorer.

So I got something new to try out. . .
I've heard before that subs really don't need more than 1 magnet of that size, it's just that people think a sub is better if it has 3. Looks more beefy and therefore more "powerful". whatever.

Welcome to the IHoP
Yeah. A bank said 86* at about 5:00 today. then 1.5 hours later it hailed. Quite windy here all day, about 30 mph. There is another thin thunderstorm line developing. I hope it misses us to the south but it seems to be extending north as it moves along . I just want nice rains, I love those.

only ~12.5 volts even when just the highs are playing? Or was the car off? What is the green tank? Is it oxygen for when the bass takes your breath away?
