  1. is there a recone kit available for a MAW 15? got coils rubbing. thanks in advance, Dave
  2. i just wish the tinsel leads were integrated into the spyders.looks like theyd slap or be too short on high excursion.
  3. keep me informed,im wanting to order a sub SOON!thanks
  4. will check it out,thanks.
  5. Thanks Mark for the response on ca.com about my delimah of sub desicions.I got the maw in a rather large box.4cuftplus port of 64sq in x20 long so roughfly 5.5cuft.total. it sounds great and gets pretty loud and low.I like it a lot but always want more.I love the enclosure and am just looking to upgrade sub for more output and wiring flexibility/get to 1ohm.opinions and experience with the ixl 15 seems very very limited. Its going in an s-10 with blowthru.i had origianally bought 2 maws but only used 1 sold the other.I really like the looks of this ixl 15.whats your take on it.like i said, box may be alittle bigger than you recommend, but the maw loves it.i like the sq just want louder.ixl just seems logical.giving the maw 800rms no probs, ixl will see 1200rms at 1ohm.thanks,anybody have any spl#s with the ixl series?
  6. wow!sub sounds great, clean, and shows promise to be loud!after it breaks in.how long should the sub be played at reasonable levels before i can expect full performance?Im pleasantly surprised at how little the sub moves while playing.it has good control, considering how soft it is out of the box.so what about 4 or 5 hours of playtime should be good for break in.
  7. no photo bucket so no pics...sorry
  8. built new box today..waiting for it to dry now.total volume is 3.4 cubes gross.port is 2.25x14x27long so net volume for sub is 2.85 plus the port which is .5 cubes.hows that sound on paper?and whats it tuned to?around 30 i think.
  9. jerimiah whats your box volume and port size and tuned to in the pic you posted on the other thread? and hows it sound/
  10. ya so thats only like 2.5 for the sub and .5 for the port area. hmmm
  11. thanks Mark, will do the 3 cuft per driver.surly i can"squeeze"6 cubes in the bed of my truck.lol will decide on tuning as install goes along.
  12. i also went out to the truck to help the driver carry them.he looked aggravated and it looked like he tossed one of the boxes pretty hard.if i can figure out how to get pics on here i'll post 1 of the damaged box.But no harm done to sub.It/they do look great.thanks for the post about putting 1200 on 1.
  13. im in central n.c. ..they are in maryland right?ssa i mean.
  14. and what size is your box and port size lenght?tuned to..??? and hows that puppy sound?Ill post my pics tonite when i figure out how.and how many rms watts you got on it?
  15. well got my subs today from the new years sale.one of the boxes was beat up pretty bad but the sub seems fine.Build quality and looks of sub seem very nice.BUT wow what a SOFT suspension.i hope these subs can handle 600 watts each,i know they are rated at 500 but i saw mark post that he'd seen people run 700 on'em with no problems. definitly will go with marks box and port size and lenght suggestions.hopefully he'll answer that for me in this thread.anyway,i look forward to installing my whole setup this coming week, temps forecasted for mid 60s.trying to figure out how to post pics of progress.
  16. ya,like that,i tried to drag the pic, that didnt work,so howd you do it?
  17. ok i got pics of blowthru in my kodak file but dont know how to transfer them into a thead.i see the insert image button but bot sure how to do it,any help?
  18. should be very interesting....and exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for me atleast:)
  19. viper,you got 2 maw 15s?
  20. subs will be in bed of s-10 booted to cab through either a 12 x 32 in blowthru or i may remove back glass and boot the shell to cab and have the subs and ports firing staight up or forward, either way all sound will be sealed off to reg cab s10.should bang nicely.
  21. well.i wasnt sure about the wattage so i got the maw15s so my amp will be at 1 ohm and put out 1200watts.i really wanted the mjs but just wish i couldve got 2of the to 1 ohm.oh well.ive never had an 18 and probably never will now.hopefully ill get the maws bangin hard in the right ported box.thanks for the reply.
  22. thanks...50in of port how long?i know dd's calculations say 16 in long for 40hz w/16in of port per cuft.how long @ 50in of port to tune in the mid to low 30's?thanks
  23. well i found another port calculator on the 12volt and it said 1 4 inch port 10inches long....so whatever Mark says and whatever anybody else has used or heard will be very helpful, thanks.I would like to use 2 4in ports with a little bigger box if thatll keep away the port noise.oh and 30hz seems a little low to tune, maybe 36 might be better?in my truck my subs tend to hit lower than the box is tuned to.Ya im rattlin on because im excited about my new set up.its gonna slam(i hope) 2 maw 15s @ 1ohm on mt punch 1000bd 1215 watts at 1 ohm on the birth sheet:)
  24. I need some calculations or box and port volumes for my maw 15s,so when they arrive,i can start my box.I plan on 1 big box divided into 2 equal chambers ported.i put in the port calculator and it said for a 15 in driver w/xmax of 13mm 3cuft@30hz like the specs for the maw 15 call for it says port needs to be minimum of 40.5 sq inches and 37 in long to get 30hz.what box and port size does Mark recommend for max output and sq?and is 3 cubes include displacement of sub and port or is it 3 cubes plus port and sub disp.thanks for the help....Dave
