Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
The deeper voices and the mid- low parts of female voices are possibly a little weak nothing really goes down when i turn it up im not sure what would I don't know the names of the drums, whichever one doesn't have a lot of bass. I don't know what MLV is or a "Baffle. im sure ill see an improvement in multiple areas when i bridge the amp, ill just have to wait until i do so to see what im still missing.

Well, I've mentioned multiple times in this thread about how the lower voices and light drum beats were a little weak compared to the bass and treble. And maybe the "fullness" of the sound was lacking. It's kinda hard to explain, like the volume of the voices maybe? When i turn the volume way up, the voices get louder and i can hear more little details with the instruments., like, normally, it feels like im listening to just speakers, but when i turn it up, it feels like im actually there. i guess that's why i want so much volume. sorry if that's confusing, im trying to be descriptive, but i don't know the terminology.

Well ill bridge the amp and then ill see if i hear clearly I haven't heard the improvement in audio quality ill get from bridging yet so i don't know. I meant Loud and no distortion. obviously, they don't exactly hold hands. I kinda knew that, just not to what extent. Possibly, I'm using excessive volume to compensate for the lack of mid-range output.

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
I don't see what's wrong with wanting the music to be loud and clear. My speakers have the potential, so it would be nice to use that potential. And the look on people's face when they hear how loud the speakers go without having recognizable distortion is nearly priceless And every time I mention wanting a true Sq setup, I get it shoved down my throat about how terrible my whole setup is, so I might as well get a little more volume if I can't have perfect Sq. So, I'll just work on getting rid of distortion for now. however, my sub is hopeless for any kind of musical accuracy in the box I currently have it in., I haven't got the new box design from Quentin yet,(he's busy) so I can't start my box build- but that's another topic. About those distortion tracks- could you post a link for a download of some samples that have different levels of distortion?

///M5 " 3) We know your amplifier was WAY into clipping from other threads. When it clips it dumps a crapload of distortion into the signal which you perceive as an increase in output. Bridging the amp will not cause this to increase unless you drive the amplifier into clipping again. It should be easier to not with double the power." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Im interested in that concept of how distortion is percieved as greater output. The speakers in my truck do go to almost unbearable amount of volume, but still no distortion that is recognizable to me, other than the problems i have mentioned before. Today i noticed something. on some songs , i can turn the volume up to max with no hissing, on others, i can only turn it up like 3/4 before the the hissing becomes audible (CD based and Bluetooth streaming with phone volume on max for both) - and the volume is comparable in both songs . Also,I get the impression that bridging the amp will not help me get any louder, just clearer, is that correct? A little more information on the topic of how distortion is heard as greater volume, and what I should listen for (distortion- wise) would be helpful.

The shop set the gains on the amp, but that was on the old Hu and im an idiot and messed with the deck gains., however when I had the type rs installed, he had both the mid and trebel on the hu on +4 ill have them recalibrate the amp when I have them bridge the amp. When I bridge the amp, do i also bridge the front rcas? It seems to me that some songs have music or parts of music that only the rear channels play

Sounds like the first step im going to take is bridging the amp. then ill see how I like it. im not going to 110 watts, I have about 100 going to them now, and bridging them will double that to around 200 I would not bash the shop. Most people just put speakers in where the factory ones were and call it good. I didnt ask for anything more so I guess I cant blame them.

Thanks for telling me.(the sub also does that if i turn it up with the windows down) I thought the tickling means hearing damage. i would not have guessed that was distortion. Overdriving the speakers? or the amplifier? which one is more likely? The type Rs are the highest power rated 6.5 (common) component speakers that i have seen at 110 rms. If I'm overdriving them now, i definitely will be if i bridge the amp. sweet:) i just got my Galaxy S4 today . the bluetooth issue might have been my old phone. ill see if my GS4 is faster connecting.

i already have treble on -4 in the headunit, it sounds fine, but i would like a little more impact and volume from the mids. Might be the "Fullness" of the music that people talk about. Although, they do go so loud that my ears start tickling even with the sub-woofer off. Im a believer now, two speakers do sound better than 4.. my mind just couldn't get around the fact that two is better than 4. somehow, the music that is recorded with sound that comes from behind me, still sounds like it is coming from behind me. its awesome. (I hate it when im proven wrong especially by myself) haha

Do the type r crossovers have tweeter attenuation? Um they have adjustments i think like -4 db , -2db and flat, Im not sure as i had a shop install them. Im not sure what tweeter Attenuation means Thank you I'm trying to be more descriptive. Thanks for trying to be more positive and helpful. So Ill take a look at my doors. from my knowledge, i put dynamat on most, if not all of the exterior panel and a little on the interior panel. there doesn't seem to be another way for air to escape back into the cab from behind the speaker, other than the speaker grill although it is likely not is not airtight. (the plastic interior door panel doesn't have any other cutouts though) I think the whole door is the "enslosure" I saw those Second Skin Speaker Tweaker pads, would those help? A description of a "Baffle" might help me understand what your thinking that i might need to do. Btw i spent about an hour trying to bridge my amp today, its in a really tight spot, so its a pain in the A** to get to the wires, so ill probably just take it to the shop that installed it

I turned down the gains and the hiss went away. If I bridge the amp to the front speakers, can I achieve greater output without that distortion? Also, if i want to be REALLY picky, i guess the "Impact" of the mid range (drum beats and deeper voices) is a little weak, compared to the treble , (as i have to turn down the tweeters and sub to make the music balanced) However, I read in reviews that Alpine Type R components (the 6.5" driver) can be a little weak in the mid range, unless they get a lot of power, but the tweeters are pretty powerful.

Actually I only put my definition there to stop being criticized by you telling me i don't know what i want. At least I tried. I have the mid gain on the hu on flat, and the tweet on -4. maybe the amp, but those are barely halfway up. i can tell i'm on the ragged edge of the power that the amp can put out of two channels. - when i set it , i ran into clipping before speaker based distortion. However, if i bridge the back channels to the front, could i get the same volume or increase the volume, without whatever "thermal Noise" is?

Lol "jus one mor beer brah" I have dang near the best amp and head unit that the companies that sell them make, I'm sure i can do better,Maybe you meant to say Install, Install, install? I said it first! ( ) hahaThe ground runs near the rca's for like a foot By the way, does a 3" coil have more motor strength than a 2.5" coil on the same power?

Did anyone else notice there were 19 people viewing this thread about an hour ago? - we have visitors! Im so proud! my second thread!(sniff) haha anyway, Buzzed members aside, whats the advantage of a 3" coil vs a 2.5" coil on 1000 watts? would a ssa icon or incriminator death Row produce a noticeable amount more output than an sa-12 on the same amp in a 1.5 cubic foot (NET for sa-12) ported box tuned to 32 hz?

Kenwood vs Pioneer SQ and Ease of Use/ SQ setup
Oops sorry I forgot to add My definition of SQ - I want it to be as loud as possible with No audible distortion (or as little as possible) and 'Good or excellent" Musical Balance and clarity. (NOT SPL) for the speaker portion of my setup. - If i wanted to get "staging and imaging" perfect, i would have to basically tear my truck apart. I already got ripped on for mentioning that. - i would have to learn Far too much, this is my first build, and its my daily driver.

Well it seems to me i'm having more trouble "throwing the power at the woofer " than SQ.(Ironic) I actually blew a woofer, i'm sure a little noise can be resolved. We could move the noise issue to my http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/59329-kenwood-vs-pioneer-sq-and-ease-of-use-sq-setup/page-5 Thread. Otherwise, a few ideas here would be helpful also.

I have that question about the hissing noise my speakers make at high volume with no sound. it doesn't appear to be the alternator, as it still makes that sound with the engine off. With a PDX-5 speaker amp and a KDC-896.

Lol "jus one mor beer brah" I have dang near the best amp and head unit that the companies that sell them make, I'm sure i can do better, I don't think i even ever heard a "professional sq system" before so i doubt im being terribly picky. - although i get more compliments from how loud and clear my speakers are , than how loud my sub is. unacceptable (jk) Maybe you meant to say Install, Install, install?

yes, i understand. some music just has less bass than others so i tweak the headunit to make the music sound 'balanced' to my ears. however, when i really want to 'rock out' i turn it down. i have heard this sub for long enough that i can tell as soon as i'm getting close to distortion. Can other Rca's cause 'noise'? i had pretty bad alternator noise on my old deck, until i removed an rca splitter the bridged the fronts and rears together than it went completely away. (i switched head units also) by the way, i posted this in my sq thread but no one seems to be responding- when i was driving today, i hear a very slight hiss (from the tweeters mainly) during the quiet portions of the song, when i have the volume at near max. - (with an original Journey cd- 'on the song Faithfully') - what could be causing this? it is still there when i have the volume to max with the engine off, and when in 'aux' mode with nothing plugged in.

Thank you for the information. That is what i was asking for. Someone who actually owned the unit who had feedback. If the tuner is that bad, you probably do not have the antennae hooked up to the radio, or the cable is severed somewhere if it is static that's bad..- , however the tuner sucks on my unit to use also its a very clunky setup.-but clear audio usually. I have a question about the Bluetooth. Does it auto connect to your phone quickly after starting the vehicle? my Kenwood takes awhile - (like 2-3 mins) to auto connect(and sometimes i have to do it manually)- and it seems to me that my old pioneer connected faster, if not almost instantly. Also, do the controls feel pretty solid? How is the overall quality of the unit? I still have that question about the hissing noise my speakers make at high volume with no sound. it doesn't appear to be the alternator, as it still makes that sound with the engine off.

Alright so i did what you asked. when i was driving today, i hear a very slight hiss (from the tweeters mainly) during the quiet portions of the song, when i have the volume at near max. - (with an original Journey cd- 'Ask The Lonely') - would this be the alternator noise? because i did not notice this the other night when i was listening with the engine off, and if it is the alternator noise, what methods can i use to correct it? The power wire is on the opposite side of the vehicle as the RCA's , so that "should" not be the issue.
