possible barrier
Wow.. Was there a reason you chose to insult my integrity in a public thread that had nothing to do with me or my products? I am not sure what to make of an SSA moderator publicly insulting a vendor of the forum out of the blue like this?!! Dissapointing. Either way, I too would suggest Dons product when it comes to raw MLV. His prices are good and the quality seems to be perfoect for automotive applications. No reason not to use it if trying to reduce unwanted airborn noise. ANT

Second Skin USACI Event
I had a great time yesterday guys. I hope you all did too! It was great to meet everybody even though I did not know for sure who some of you guys were. Next time I am going to have to ask people to use their forum usernames so I can make the connection. After the dust settled, we collected $1578 for One Step Beyond. I am going to present a check to them later this week. Kathy is going to write up a nice letter from us, and get things moving. You can expect to see some pics online soon, but in the mean time, a couple of the Team Aftermath guys posted some videos Here they are:

Speaker Tweakers
We no longer make them.. Actually, we never did. We had them made in china. They were the only acoustical product that we sold that was not made in the USA, so last year when we went all USA, we had to kill them. We have been trying to find a local company that can make them for us, but they are very expensive. Still working on it ANT

New Second Skin Product - SPL Sludge
Anything can "act" like a barrier if you use enough of it, but really, Sludge is a vibration coating. It is designed to reduce structure borne noise. The thicker you apply it, the more airborne noise it will reduce but it is not very efficient compared to a real barrier like our Luxury Liner Pro mat. Hope that helps! ANT

Another door question :)
One thing to keep in mind, is that our SPL Tiles might weigh more, and cost more per square foot, but you need less of them to get the desired results. Same thing goes for Damplifier Pro. There is not another product in its class that will yield similar results. It is the absolute best product available in its class! While doing a solid layer of damper will yield awesome reults, it is not always required. ANT

Second Skin USACI Event
We just got word back from the City. They approved our application to block off the street. We have the barricades coming in on the Friday before the show, as well as the portable toilets, table & chairs and a few other things. To park within the barricaded street area and "show" your car in the car show, is going to require a donation to the One Step Beyond Foundation. Maybe $10 per car, or whatever you feel like giving. To get metered in the Usaci contest is going to cost $20. This money does not go to the charity. That all goes to the Usaci guy. Only cars that enter the show will be getting metered. So, if you want your car entered, it will cost you $20 + a small donation. If anyone has any questions you can call me directly 623-533-8193 Thanks so much for your consideration! ANT

Another door question :)
Gotcha.. There are a number of ways you can go about it. To reduce harmonic resonance, all you need is a little bit small amount of coverage with a solid performing product. Damplifier Pro or our SPL tiles wold work If you really want to provide a more solid envoironment for the door speaker to perform in, go with a solid layer on each of the doors skins. Most of our customers go with about 8-12 sq feet per door depending on the car. To save money though you might want to start with a singel door pack of Damplifier Pro for 2 doors, or maybe 6 or 7 SPLT Tiles per door. Feel free to call me with any questions 623-533-8193 I will be happy to answer any questions you have in person! Hope that helps! ANT

Damplifier Pro Black :: Now Shipping
You have all waited long enough! Now, Damplifier Pro comes with a annodized black foil, rather than a silver foil. We also increased the thickness of the foil from 6 mils to 6.5 mils for added strength, and better vibration damping! We will be updating the pics on the website in the next couple of days, but I can tell you right now, this stuff looks amazing, and performs even better! Check out the product on our site: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/vibration-mat/damplifier-pro.php Or get in on the conversation on our forum: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6046 ANT

Another door question :)
I agree. The more we know about what is acceptable the better off you will be via our help. When considering weight, it is kind of a toss. You can use something like the Damplifier Lite, but in order to get the same results that you would get with Damplifier Pro, or our SPL Tiles, then you would literaly need 2 or 3 layers of Damp Lite. By the time you figure it all out, you might end up adding the same amount of weight regardless of what product you use (when performance is equal) ANT

2008 Infiniti EX35 - Hand Crafted Car Audio
Thought I would share the install my new friend John at Hand crafted Car Audio of Chandler AZ did for me a couple weeks ago. I met John through a Second Skin sales rep named Bob Morrow. Some of you guys already know of Bobs Tacoma which has been reviewed in this DIYMA thread: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/member-product-reviews/60325-bob-morrows-h-t-tacoma.html So Bob introduced me to John, one of the customers he calls on. John is a true DIY guy turned professional. He works out of the garage in his home in east Chandler AZ and within the first minute of walking in, I knew I was in the right place. The tools he has and the cleanliness alone were enough to make most retail install bays jealous. You can see a shot of his garage on the home page of his website: Handcrafted Car Audio - Mesa, AZ - Car Audio, Video, Security and Accessory Sales and Installation. After talking with Bob and John for a few hours, we came up with a game plan. I already have tons of amps, subs and components to choose from. Most all brand new, but some simply wouldn't work. I really wanted to keep everything as factory looking as possible. I did not want fabricate pods in the dash, or put the tweets in the pillars. We did not use kicks, and I opted to keep the factory spare tire. My biggest concern here is that I travel to Mexico 6-8 times per year. It is a 4 hour drive to the beach so I would absolutely hate to blow a tire on the way and be stuck in the middle of the desert with no spare. The spare had to stay. The problem with this was that it limited the space we could use for the amp rack, as well as the subs. We ended up glassing one sub on each side of the hatch while making the amp rack adjustable so that I could still access the spare tire with ease. It turned out better than I could have hoped for! All in all, everything is very factory. The mids are in the doors and the tweets are in the factory dash corners. I knew that I would be compromising on this but I honestly would rather keep everything factory, and take my licks afterwards. Here is what we used: Head Unit - Factory Infiniti integrated with: Arc Audio SRI Components Ultra Subs SS-6 Subs (2) JL Audio 8W7 Amps (2) JL HD750/1's (2) JL HD600/4's I only needed one of the 4 channel amps so that one is sitting back in my closet. Crossover Arc Audio IDX Sound Deadening Second Skin Damplifier Pro All in all, everything is still very factory. The mids are in the doors and the tweets are in the factory dash corners. I knew that I would be compromising on this but I honestly would rather keep everything factory, and take my licks afterwards. Here are the pics: Overall I am very happy with the results We still have some tweaking to do, but without messing with it too much it is very loud, and crisp. A bit too crisp o nthe highs in fact. Having tweets with 150 watts in the corners of the dash bouncing off the windshield certainly is not doing me any favors, so my one of my next steps is to kill the tweets and replace them with a with a set of HAT L4s that Scott just sent me. Some time alignment would be great, as would an EQ. I am looking at a 7 band Arc model but I am open to some suggestions if you guys have any. Today, Matt at Image Dynamics suggested an Audio Control unit. If anyone has some ideas, please throw them my way. The factory head unit is lacking for sure. Manville sent me the bass controller for the sub amps, but I am not sure if I will need it once we get the EQ put in. Just gotta get the right EQ and find a place for it. Enjoy! ANT

Second Skin USACI Event
With all the give-a-ways, I hope nobody shows up but me. haha. I hope I can get my ride ready in time. I realy want to get a much better score. ACTUALLY, I have a question. I f I wanted to do 601-1800 Stock, and trunk, and whatever else, do I have to pay $20 for each entry? Depending on what I can get done befre the show, I might try to do a street beat and consitancy contest too. YEah. You have to pay for every run you do. We, nor the charity gets any of the money from this. That all goes to the usaci guy ANT

New Second Skin Product - SPL Sludge
Well, Sludge is rubberized. It has both acrylic rubber and recycled rubber in it. Therfore it is rubberized so it qualifies. I am not sure about the total thickness though. I though DB Drag was 2 layers total, no more than 4mm total. ANT

New Second Skin Product - SPL Sludge
You could put this over the Damplifier Pro if you were really trying to keep the flex down by a large degree. This product wil lreducce the vibrations but allso add a good amount of dlex control, helping to keep the spl in the car. That is the idea anyhow. ANT
