  1. I don't mean to seem unwelcoming, as I am not a full blown regular on this site, but I have recently read some of your posts on other forums like caraudioforum.com, and I was lead to beleive that both you and fatmat are out of corey PA. Fogive my brashness. I did not mean to offend. Welcome to the forum. I am sure if your product is as good as you ahve claimed it will recieve a very warm reception. ANt
  2. We have been developing a new product for SPL competitors and bass heads that is going to be unlike anything the industry as seen. Basically it is a beefed up version of or spectrum coating, but along with it, we are going to include a couple pounds of our rubber tire strands. These are little bits of rubber that are made from recycled tires. The strands are very small but super strong. According to my rubber vendor, when these strands are added to acrylic coatings the network of interwoven strands that is created will increase both elongation and tensile strength of the material by almost 500%. I think we are going to call it SPL Sludge but really, it will help with SQ as well. This stuff is amazing!! I am very excited about this new product! ANT
  3. Handcrafted Car Audio in Mesa AZ is going to set up a booth and will be donating a free install of some products that Ultra Subs is giving away. Ultra Subs will be sending us a couple subs and and amp. Drift Mode has also stepped up and will supplying us with a couple of fender covers. Great for protecting the fenders of the car while workingo n the engine! ANT
  4. We are still about 2 weeks out from releasing the product. We just put the order in for the die, so it is going to be a little while still. I have posted this same contest on about 10 different sites. I have tons of names to go through.. ANT
  5. I cruised by the one in tempe/mesa about 10 years ago when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. The guys were very cool and informative. Tho program seemed pretty solid. I think that they offer a good solid foundation that will help you get an entry level position at most hack shops. From there it is going to come down to imagination and real world application. Get enough cars under your belt, and be fast & creative and you will get a good job. I would not however expect that a certificate from MD would get you in to a good shop making great pay, unless you have the skills to begine with. Worth it for a quick jump start though. ANT
  6. Depends on the car. The performance of a barrier is determined by its coverage which should be complete. Considering it is regularly difficult to have a single sheet covering a full surface this means there will be odd shaped pieces and seams. Minimizing any losses through the overlap regions is difficult with the foam already attached. On top of that it makes installation more difficult IMO trying to get a thicker sheet to follow contours. Being able to apply each independently then is easier to do correctly and if it isn't done correctly then there will be performance lost. I am still curious to why you think differently. Experince form installing both types of material has lead me to prefer a pre bonded barrier. For me, it is just easier to apply one mat, rather that 2. Plus, no glueing of the vinyl tot he foam with messy adhesive means less work. The amount of overlap you avoid by using a 2 part system compared toa single part system is so minimal that to me, it is not worth it. Plus the bonded mehod is much more forgiving in terms of noob installation. Less to mess up Just me preference based on my experience though. Both methods work when done correctly. ANT
  7. What would be your reason for decoupling independantly. Do you see a perfomance gain? ANT
  8. Website is up now!! http://www.secondskinevent.com/ ANT
  9. I have read that thread over the years and there is so much bad info in it. First, there are 2 types of Lizard Skin One for noise and one for heat. The theraml coating is loaded with 4 different types of glass spheres including ceramic and volcanic. Plus it has 2 other mineral filers that helps with heat. Non of this you will get in a house paint. There is a reason whey LS charges so much for a bucket of that stuff. It is very expensive to make, and there is a lot more to it than simply dumping hollow shperes in to house paint. I only know this becuase I formulate all the custom coatings that Secodn Skin sells. This stuff is decently complex. ANT
  10. Best way to keep sound in the car is to creat a solid system of noise reduction similar to how you would keep noise from coming in. Treat teh interior sheet metal with a vibration damper to reduce the structure borne noise. Our product is Damplifier Pro Apply a noise barrier on top of that. A good choice is a heavy vinyl barrier that is laminated to a closed cell foam. Ours is called Luxury Liner Pro. Not only will the help to increase the volume of the music inside the car, but it will also reduce the road noise, engine noise and exhaust drone so that the music in the car has less sonic territory to fight over. Less unwanted noise means more wanted noise. The music will automatically appear to be louder becuase it has less noise to fight with Hope that helps! ANT
  11. Welcome to the forum Forgive me but isnt sound destroyer and fatmat the same company? You guys have been doing business under different names onthe internet for a while now.. Am I wrong about this? ANT
  12. Thanks a ton for the support Mark. I greatly appreciate it. Maxxsonics just chimed in and will be donating some goodies too! Things are progressing well. ANT
  13. Wow... Very strange post indeed. So Kyle, somone not affiliated with Second Skin, is giving board members our products with a 40% discount based on a good thread from 4 years ago? Odd...
  14. Bill at www.knukonceptz.com commited to sending a couple 4 guage amp kits for the raffle.. Things are starting to pick up! Actually looking in to taht exact suggestion right now.. ANT

  16. Over the years we have a had a lot of street rod and race car customer come to us looking for a product that could withstand the high temperatures on the engine side of the firewall. Some cars reach levels of 1000 degrees f. and for this application, we had no product to offer them. Now we are about 8 weeks out from releasing our newest thermal insulation mat. This new material is a multi layer composite that can withstand temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees when as little as 2 inches of air space is provided between the heat source and the product. At ¼ inch thick and weighing in at .25 lbs per sq foot this is going to be our best thermal insulation material yet. The foil is about 12 mils thick with a dimpled texture to increase surface area. The Organic fibers are capable of withstanding temperatures over 1000 degrees, and the pressure sensitive adhesive is an acrylic hybrid that will grip on to any painted or primed metal surface, as well as plastic. When subjected to a heat source of 1200 degrees the opposite side of the panel will get reduced to around 350 f. When subjected to a heat source in the 300 degree range, the opposite side of the panel will get reduced to around 85 f. or so. Not only can it be used on the engine side of the firewall, but it can also be used under the car, above the exhaust or transmission to block external heat as well. Now, all we have to do is come up with a name for it. That is where you come in. We are offering a $250 gift code to the first person that suggests the name that we decided to use. We are posting this offer on several different forums and will be selecting a winner in the next month or so. We have about 8 weeks before the product is ready to ship so we can take our time and wait for the right name to show up. Thanks for your help! ANT www.secondskinaudio.com
  17. We shot the video a fe months ago and named the product a few weeks before that. I think Billy Mayz would be proud: ANT
  18. Yea that would be way more cost effective them $5000 worth of damplifier pro. I like that THX certified drywall. I would like some THX certified car insulation... Damplifier would do pretty much nothing. It is a mass dampening layer NOT a sound barrier. There are plenty of actual barriers that can be used but butyl rubber isn't one of them. Dmaplifier is not a mass damper. No such thing Damplifier Pro is a constraint layer damper. Mass has nothing to do with how it performs. Mass loaders are product like Luxury Liner Pro. ANT
  19. If youant to seal upo the drywall and the studs, use Spectrum instead of Damplifier Pro. We are actually workingon a formula right now that is much more rubbery than regular spectrum. It is designed to go in btween 2 yaers of Drywall to creat a constrain layer drywall sandwich that will kill the transmission of noise from one room to the next. Keep an eye out for it
  20. Nope. The quality follows the weight, the price and the foil thickness. Damplifier Lite -good Damplifier - better Damplifier Pro - best
  21. Either a budget or a weight thing. We developed this product to offer our customers a quality product that will compete well with some of the knockoffs out there. Damplifier Pro is still my favorite. ANT
  22. After about a year of going back and forth, we are finally ready to produce our first batch of damplifier Lite. Here are the specs: Damplifier Lite: 3 mil foil .35 lbs psf 500 degree thermal limit The product is already available for preorder on our site: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/products/vi...lifier-lite.php We still have to add the pics but those should be in soon! Our intention is to bring a light weight product to the market and give our customers a more affordable option that still beats out the competitors in its class. Thanks for your attention ANT
  23. great review man! ANT www.damplifier.com
  24. We have decided to move forward with the Second Skin Bed Liner, and we need your help naming it. We are offering a $500 gift certificate to the person who comes up with the best name for the product. All you have to pay for is shipping. To get in on the action, please post your ideas in this thread, or in the Second Skin Forum at this link: http://www.secondskinaudio.com/forums/show...45141#post45141 Thanks for your help! ANT
  25. A while back, Casey and Buzz form floridaspl.com did a nice video of Damplifier Pro and Lxury Liner Pro. It was pretty impressive so I sanctioned them to do all the videos for the Second Skin website. We have about 20 more to do, but here are the first 2. Thoughts? In case you are wondering where you recognize Buzz from, he used to be the host on the Speed channels show Truck U ANT
