  1. I was saying, with both decks flat, everything off, at full tilt the Sony doesn't push my amps nearly as loud as the pioneer did. Pioneer sounded better at every level. I only switched back to the Sony because I missed t/a. Not sure if I should get a MiniDSP first, or a new unit first, both are on my shopping list. With the pioneer the btl got loud enough to tickle a bit, but with the Sony I could barely get half throw without max gain, and a ridiculous eq curve, +6 on sub out (max) Not entirely relevant to the rest of my post, but that's what led to me finding myself in this predicament
  2. You've never made a mistake you ended up learning from huh, lol Sometimes experience is a better teacher than words, what can I say. So, fumbling around with my amp today I was mildly irritated that I'd managed to scratch it up so much in 6 months of owning it when I noticed, there's paint missing from right behind the remote screw, a teeny dent and black streaks on the terminal screw so I'm guessing poor clearance. Scraped paint off tightening the terminal down, and finally bit it when the wires were getting fucked with during the swap. If I can get the fog out of my s4 camera I'll post a picture of it. Indescribably happy that my AB didn't meet the same fate.
  3. I didn't, it's a terrible habit, I know. I put a Lanzar Vibe in its place and no issues so far other than sounding like ass. But, free amp. I'm gonna send it in and see what they say. I'm not sure what I'll do once it's back, I couldn't get full output from it with my Sony deck. Shit, I can barely get the BTL moving without the gain maxed on the AB 2k in a 12cu ft box, where as the pioneer sounded richer, low end was more powerful, and overall sound was clearer.
  4. I was swapping my pioneer hu out and putting my sony back in, and somewhere during the installation something happened, and now my T250x4 doesn't turn on anymore. The board stinks like a dead amp, but the internal fuse is fine, and the inline fuse is fine =[ I am not sure where to go from here as far as fixing it, everything else in the car works fine, and I'm just weirded out that it might happen to another amp. Thinking about replacing it with a PPI900.4 o.O I checked all my wires, even pulled them out, inspected them and re ran them (I only have 6 or so ft of 1/0 power, and a matching ground run to a block, then from the block to the amps). I sorta feel retarded. My 200a alt is going to arrive any day now, and i'll have plenty of bass but no mids lmao.
  5. Appreciate it =] Been getting an itch to get out of the house and find more events to attend, and meet more people in the hobby lately. I hardly know anyone near me that's into cars at all, let alone audio >.< Saw a guy drive by with a slamology sticker a few weeks ago though, so I know there has to be some around here lol
  6. I haven't had time to really sit down and write out a full update, I have been going through the roughest patch of my life so far I'd say; but basically, I got my Taramps mounted hidden in my Dash, I scooped an american bass 4k (2k rms @ 1ohm) for my ID 15's, installed my Dayton AMT Tweeters, and the next to get installed is a MiniDSP 2x4 and a 200a Alt. getting the hang of phasing and time alignment, proper aiming. got my MDF baffles installed, and am eyeing up some daytom 8's to match my tweets. so far, this is the best sounding system i've ever owned. The ID 15's sound so so clean and clear, and I'm not even at full amperage However, I took my truck into the shop the other day to track down a trans coolant leak, and the guy who test drove my truck took it out and whipped the fuck out of it and blew my Trans coolant lines out all over the road. Basically drove my truck like only i'm allowed to. Honestly, i'm worried for my motor the way it was pouring fluids and smoking when he pulled in. I drove it to the shop for fucks sake. one bank of Cats is clogged so badly the other glows red hot inside and my OD issue that I told you guys about. So the Neer is out of commission for a while =( I was seriously pissed, the first thing he said to me was i'm not responsible for that. SO heated. If he fucked my shit up too bad, I'm going to park the Neer, scoop a CRX or a geo or something to roll for a while, and build a 5.0 up next summer, get it sleeved, maybe a stroker kit, port n polish, tons of goodies. New to it, but I'm excited. So it's win win to me. Oh also, I've managed to put down the pills and the bottle for the first time in six years, so really, none of this can bring me down. I'm on top of the world, and it's just a car catch y'all later, back to working thirteen/ones at Papa Johns lolllll
  7. Oh then fuck the off brand bullshit. Thanks for the idea =] Im screenshotting your post for payday >=]
  8. What do I need to complete a nexus install?
  9. Seen some of the off brands go for three to four with promising reviews
  10. Has anyone experimented with these? If so, what brands? I've read some promising things, and for the prices im seeing I'm willing to scrap my sony to give it a try. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B015IVIN9U?psc=1#immersive-view_1444557020300 Random example. Seem to be becoming more popular lately.
  11. Happy birfday mang =]
  12. Misfires a lot less when I run premium in it I've noticed
  13. It NEVER shudders when overdrive is off and only slips when the engine has been warmed up for some time
  14. Worth it to just snag 320 or 370 and call it a day then? Shooting for solid 14.4v at full tilt. Don't plan on more than 4-5k rms for a decent while.Hifonics 2k, taramps 250x4 and I think I'm gonna put a power strip somewhere in the back for tools n whatever maybe a NES or something. Considering a light bar but that's just an impluse buy, I don't leave the city much.
  15. Yeah, it sounds way more involved than I would have hoped. Wish me luck .-.
  16. Definitely have the 5.0 I think terminology is what's killing me here. However many gears, there's a wild shudder occasionally into the last gear
  17. Still super confused. Would a video of my tach and speeedo first through fifth help? I never questioned it being a 98 untio you asked me if I was sure lol
  18. Could the "shuddering" be it misfiring? My knowledge is limited but it doesn't feel like a misfire. But you're right, I'll read those first; This is my first job I've ever worked 60hr weeks, I've been super lazy Post back after that =]
  19. What should I look at with the awd system?
  20. So what's happening after fourth gear? What's the shudder I feel? and are you referring to overdrive/5th as the torque converter? Tryna get my terminology correct
  21. No? I can hear it go 1-2-3-4-5 I can count...I think... For real, I would bet money I have a five speed. If I turn off O/D it'll operate as a four speed though. In fifth gear at 2k im doin about sixty
  22. Lucas will help with things like trans shudder. I'm not familiar with Fords, but if he has some trans clutch shudder and not actual slippage it may help. Worked like a charm in my GM truck to fix it. My dad uses it to fix shudder issues at work. To the OP, keep in mind when you add something like Lucas you need to drain an equivalent amount of fluid out so you aren't overfilling the fluid when you add the Lucas. As to the OP, most trans shops especially the larger regional names (Summit Transmission, etc) will offer financing since the majority of people don't have enough spare cash on hand to pay for an expensive auto repair. You will however have to QUALIFY for that financing, credit and budget wise. If you are seriously in need of help, I work for a finance company locally that has some referral relationships with local auto repair/trans shops. We deal in higher risk customers primarily, so if the credit thing is sketchy for you I can see what shops we have a relationship with as many of the retail finance companies will generally require you to be a reasonably low credit risk. Slips on first gear and uphill, shudders something awful from fourth to fifth. Financing is something I'm definitely going to have to look at, this is my only vehicle right now, I'm working on acquiring a second as well. As far as the amount of work involved here, since I'm keeping the truck either way, should I grab a beater vehicle before messing with the trans?
