Walling a vehicle 101 - any suggestions?
There'd be a ton wrong if it had a wall.If I were to have it walled i'd have the suspension worked on.

Walling a vehicle 101 - any suggestions?
Oh there's nothing wrong with the suspension, or anything mechanical. I meant iffy compared to cornering in a smaller vehicle. I think for now i'll keep it below the windows, i'm going to measure tomorrow to determine 12's or 15's. As for securing the enclosure, is bolting it down to the frame okay?

Really? I thought it might be more affordable due to keeping some of the parts. No, I understand on the no line of sight; that's the one thing I hate about the wall concept. And I love my truck, but it sure feels alot more iffy when I pull turns a little quick. I can't imagine with 400lbs more

In terms of my current woofers or from 12's to 15's?

Do all the obsidians have the same size motor; if I bought twelves, could I have them reconed to fifteens later down the road?

Walling a vehicle 101 - any suggestions?
That's good news to me, I was thinking i'd drop money on a stetsom 2k5 instead of the pure audio 3000.1 due to some comments towards it (lol), but if I can get something a little smaller, that's fine by me. As for a 40hz tuning, what kind of music do you listen to? My tens were tuned to 37hz and I hated it, a large portion of my music felt like it was missing the low end. I was going to do a 28hz tune. I'd like to keep the seat if I'm not walling it, so twelves doesn't upset me, but by entry level, are you implying they don't get very loud?

Walling a vehicle 101 - any suggestions?
Pretty much the feeling I had; but you know me, I had to ask, I am a daydreamer. As far as box design, I have one more question for this thread, I don't think it's enough to make a whole nother thread about, Do the obsidians sound alright sealed? If so, I think I'd build a slightly oversized sealed box for them, and if it isn't enough, i'll put some aeroports in it. Also that way I could then mess with the tuning to find what sounds good in the truck.

I can't find my usb for my phone to upload pictures, so i'll post a link to a similar one. It's buried in the garage, I'll try to dig it up this week some time. This one is even the same color. https://invimg.autofunds.com/InventoryImages/2012/12/15/1672_290880_18020667_471215072012.jpg

Dangerous? As in, higher chance of rolling the truck on a turn?

Looking at getting four Obsidians; if I were to wall it i'd go with eighteens, but in a regular enclosure, i'll just do fifteens, i'm not to sure I could do four eighteens ported in the space I have. As for why, I assume it would much easier to get loud with less space to pressurize. It's only for music though, i'm not after numbers. And of course the wow factor. I'm after some flex and vurred blision, low notes and a moderate amount of quality to go along with it.

Not a good effort/return ratio?

Upon further inspection, my fifteens were abused by the previous owner, and only have one functioning coil each, so i'll be replacing then much sooner than expected. I am still not completely decided on a course of action, but I thought I would ask some questions about walls before I wrote it off as too difficult. First one, I know the weight will lower mileage significantly, which isn't cool, but I live within four miles of all my main destinations, so it's not too bad. Will the weight of a wall enclosure require attention to the suspension? to be honest, i'm not entirely sure what kinds of questions to ask, so any advice from those of you experienced with such enclosures would be greatly appreciated

I have less than eighteen inches of 2ga to my amp, even that short of a run makes a difference huh?

Where's the best place to measure at, front battery, rear battery, or at the amp? I have it at the rear battery now.

It's the nature of the music. It's intentionally distorted. You do know what dubstep is, yes?

Is adding a diode to the alternator sensor cable potentially detrimental to the lifespan of the alt? I find I have to keep it low for two to three days depending on how much I drive, to charge the batteries back up. I have two 12v cells, and my alt only charges at 14.4v cold it usually sinks to 13.8v warm and if I throw square waves at the system, playing dubstep or such, it'll touch 12.9v. I have a duralast under the hood and an everstart maxx marine in the back, which I thought would be far more than enough for <1500rms. It it okay to rest in the high twelves while playing music? I was a lot more comfortable when it was 13+ and not sure, but it seems to sound weaker at lower voltage.

I'd be going from 750rms to 3,000rms. Edit: Oh I read it out of order, I got you. But, my budget for an amp is tight; I would like a Sundown 1.5k, but It's a little difficult to dig that deep; what do they go for used? On Db-r it's about $380, I guess it's not too bad, considering the pure is $300. I'm terrible at waiting I am not so concerned with how much, but how loud. The subs aren't doing what i'd like them to at the moment, so I am going to switch out the box and amp. I stuffed them with 30oz of polyfill each today, and while it's a tighter smoother sound, it didn't help the lows .-. I sent an inquiry to Singer and he said about $450 O.O alts are moneyyyyy, i've never priced them before :|

Is 2ga big enough or should I trim off some slack 1/0 to use?

I am trying to buy an amp i'll be able to use for a set of four obsidians after next summer is over. Until then i'll going to run it at four on my current subs. My other option is a precision power 1800w. I read around and they said the Pure 3k does rated power, albeit not very efficiently (64%)

I installed my 1/0 and am going to pick up some 2ga wire for the Big three later on this week; I have the marine battery double grounded in the back, a 5ft run of 1/0 and an 18in run of 2ga; then 2ga power and ground to the amp from the battery, about 12in each. My voltage meter dropped two notches after installing my wire, why would that be? I can't find my digital one, so it's not exact, but it is still above twelve; it's thirteen at lights and fourteen while rolling. I'm only running about 900wrms right now, including my doors, and it doesn't move while the amps do work, so I can't figure it out. I am considering waiting on building a ported box, and picking up a Pure Audio 3000.1, just to have a little more power on tap, even if it doesn't do rated, It'll be enough. And for $300 shipped, I can't complain. What would be a better move for after I snag the amp, a 270a alt, or an addtional pair of marine batteries?
