  1. It's only a couple pounds. The box and speakers are the savior, they are *quite* light, much moreso than previous systems. Even with the estimated weight of all four batteries, it's not nearly as much of a back breaker as the dual 6.5" bose setup I had (two Bose subs, two Bose mids, two Pioneer tweets, 10lb battery, .5"Mdf ported @38hz)
  2. 3amp constant, 4amp surge And the battery is...err.... damn it's sealed up inside the sealed chamber of the 4th order right now. It's enough to max the highs, and put the sub at 1/2, thought i'm fairly sure that isn't a viable measurement Maybe 12-15amps? Not enough, hence it being one of three/four that the final bag will be comprised of. It's an AGM so I can be reckless with whatever angle I leave the bag at (sounds insignificant, but sulfuric acid was the end of three of the previous five backpacks)
  3. Also, power inverter as battery charger; pros, cons? Obviously it works, but how does it affect battery longevity? 115v AC --> 13.8v dc
  4. See the above post; I already had it run that way, I used an ipod as the source not a radio with a remote out. (Need to pick up two more batteries yet )
  5. It gets warm with the cooling fan turned off (not in that picture, it's two feet to the left waiting to be installed) But since it's so frigid outside, I usually leave the fan off, and let the winter air do it's job, for a little extra current. Odd little fan sucks tons of juice. Supposed to be 12v, 0.5a When the battery is up on its charge, it runs just barely warm, (same temp playing or muted) just barely warm enough to notice. I had a wire running from the Rem+ up to the battery positive, I would simply connect it when I turned it on. Never had an issue like that. No turn on pop or anything.
  6. 85w rms x 4 @ 4ohms I was running it at 1+2 bridged @ 8 ohms, and 3L and 4R at 8 ohms each. The amp simply will not power on. The remote turn on seems to have failed.
  7. Battery was freshly charged. Tried Battery on another amp, and it worked fine. Tried the Battery, then the charger, then both on the Earthquake. Nada. http://s1166.photobucket.com/albums/q619/KTBearTrap26/
  8. 12v Motorcycle battery. I had a 4" Coby 4th order, and two JBL Pro two ways. 2.1 setup. Pics are uploading.
  9. For the record, it's a Jansport Hiking backpack. Lol. Not a car. I checked the fuse both visually, and for the fun of it with the little yellow thingy that lights up if it's good. All clear on that front. Only one fuse on the amp, 25a. I didn't fuse the power wire, it is only 8 inches long. No burned anything, no fried board aroma. I'm so lost. It died silently, no POP, or sparks or sizzles.
  10. I was happily enjoying my new (old) amp, when it turned off. I assumed the remote wire came loose again, end of story. The terminals are screws but with no plate so it slides out easily. (Before you ask, no short, it was in line of sight the whole time). I re-connected the remote wire, and nothing. Simply will not turn back on. No blown fuse, no smell, heck, not even warm. I have no idea where to begin looking for the culprit. I'd post pictures of the damage but there is none that is visible... Any ideas on how to fix this situation? I love this amp, and would hate to retire it to paperweight status.
  11. Let me get in on that ride. Shittttt. Voted!
  12. Installed a Sony (no comment) HU in a friend's car a few weeks ago, with no problems until another friend tried to replace the rear speakers. After which, the radio turn on wire does not function. To get the radio to turn on we have to wire both red (mem) and yellow (12+) to the 12+ constant. Checked every fuse in the vehicle, and smell no burned wires. If all else fails, we will simply run a new set of wires and re fuse them , but either way, i'd like to figure out what went wrong in the first place. 1992 Saturn SL (The awesome kind )
  13. heck yes brothaaaa
  14. lol il make a video of it
  15. I have a stupid question, but can you strap an AQ 2200 to an AQ 1200 and run 2 subs on it or would it put it wayyy out of phase or something
  16. MY friend's twin 18" BTL's, d2, UFO slugs. Single AQ2200.1d @ .5ohm smacks teh brain wit teh deebeez
  17. only thing holding me back is the sale of my subs. i want to sell every thing i have audio wise, to pay for this. everything is cosmetically fucked, but perfom great for what i paid. three tens, (two pro, one home theatre) four bookshelf speakers, (two different pairs) a pro 7", yeah.... I need $$$ lol
  18. yessir, i know. If i stuffed it with polyfill, and ported it, at like 38hz, would that be effective? 8 mounted iso. Can the extra motor force make up for a small box? the 8 would run at 4ohms a channel. 40 watts apiece. rumor has it that silver amp is a powerhouse. same as usual, as much thump as possible. super tweeters got the high end, along with a 4x10 horn.
  19. =D how do they sound? I need punchy and deep. Also considering these subs run from this amp Also, that amp would kick ass with the 8 bzka'a four ohm load per channel; awesome. 80wrms. ten extra watts per sub to placebo the fuck out of my brain.
  20. lol... you're always doing something funky speakerboy... lmao.. shopping around for an amp for the backpack, check my My other thread
  21. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=265-081 Could that amplifier reliably produce at least 30w rms per channel run as a sub amp? rated for a 4ohm minimum, but with plenty of reserve i'll be running it at 2ohms.
  22. Like the title says, im building a new speakerbag. The fun of causing mischief at the mall and walmart n stuff has disappeared, I want this one for something easily movable, for bragging rights, but mostly as my room system. The backpack aspect makes it more fun =) I am purchasing 12 bazooka OEM 5" subwoofer/midbass drivers, and three 20wrms x2ch Class T amps. I have my two previous batteries (12v Motorcyle battery, 12.5v modem battery) to power the amps, they run on 12v. I have four 5.25" mid/highs speakers already, and will add foam baffles to finish those off If i can work them in. I'm thinking (8) 5's isobaric, sealed, w/ polyfill, in .5cuft. I'm not really looking for bass so much as a strong punch. Hence the 8 drivers. I'm thinking Isobaric, due to the space available (I need 8 for impedance reasons, more motor force is a plus =D). I am using a 12x12x(5.5inches at the top, 7 at the bottom)(about) Guitar amp box. I gutted it, and will put a new baffle on to hold the subs. Looking at it now, If i left The back open (that side is against my back while wearing it) Could I get more kick from the 5's? alternatively, I can buy a bag of polyfill and seal the box. Considering selenium Super tweeters on the straps. four maybe, two aiming up at me, two facing forward. Meant to be a fun project; so don't hate Subs Amps Both got excellent reviews.
  23. Any effect at all?
  24. Simply, would cotton work at all in the same way as polyfill? I know one is meant for it and one is sure as hell not, but I have pounds of cotton and a wretched internet connection so roaming the internet isnt an option for the rest of the week. All I need is a yes or no, and a brief why. I was staring at a pile of cotton from dog-shredded pillows, and got to wondering.
