I picked the drivers cuz they looked cool. I really don't know what i'm doin' here. 5.1 was just wishful thinking. 2.1 is fine.
  2. I've hardly read anything on either, but I would guess it's due to the subs being intended for different purposes. i.e. one has more sq while the other gets a little louder. Don't quote me...

    Bump...
  4. Four dayton 12's. I'm using these primarily in my room, an when i get a car, it will be a crap setup til i get HCCA's. ZCON's
  5. I'm currently 6', and weigh 210lbs, which is down from 270lbs in February. I am hoping to get down to 180 by spring, and I am trying to do it the healthy way as opposed to whats happening now >.> About three weeks ago, i stopped getting hungry, at all really. Simply no physical desire to eat. Kinda like, i'll eat just to eat and everything tastes bad, like i ate wayyy too much already. So, my question(s) are, 1) what is some healthy food, that's not tasteless. 2) What should i make of my lack of appetite? 3) what are some good lifts for dropping weight, or more specifically dropping fat (I am still getting used to running, not really a big fan)? numbers aren't so important as composition. Thanks.
  6. Lol I'm bored so I'm going to ask whats your best numbers in these various excercises All of these I'm asking best continously Pushups: pfffft. 30 Sit-ups: 35 Pullups: 1 Chinups: 5 Best time in 1 mile 1/4 mile 1/8 mile Most weight in Benchpress 211 Curls(single hand and double hand) Leg press Squats Military press(most probably don't do) 135 Be sure to add your weight and size as these do play a large factor in how much you can do thanks! I am 6' 210 lbs, and 17 years old. like, 20% bodyfat.
  7. Doing negatives on bench, and my spotter dropped 288 on me. Very unhappy. There was a discussion to be had....
  8. if i bought 10 of these and made a super big ported box ( i think they are supposed to be IB?) would it sound worthy of the money i spent (slightly more than the daytons)? spl is more imporant, but sq cant just be dismissed. I found a ultra cheap in-wall 8" subwoofer. 22 bucks. thump option 2 I would be using those instead of four dayton 12's Boom option number 1
  9. I aquired the subwoofer mentioned above. It has a built in 5.1 amplifier, and a 10" sub. My question is, since i do not have the remote for it, how do I switch channels to have it play off the input from my computer? (rca) it has 6 channel inputs, l/c/r/s/rl/rr and it has two aux stereo inputs. But, i don't know how to turn it to the correct channel. Thanks for any input. I do know a bit about circuitry; Moving a few wires wouldnt be an issue.
  10. I'm thinking i'll buy it for my birthday, in November. But, if that is still before you pick something up, I will give as thorough a review as possibly =)
  11. More channels, more to love =P That receiver looks like my dream come true. So much better than I thought i'd get for under $250.

Alright, so I want to set a goal for myself, something to aim towards for my first project. Between saving for school and fixing my room (dog ate my carpet), i'd like to set aside a chunk of money for my 5.1 setup. If i had thought for two more seconds, i would have incorporated this into my previous thread, for the amp, but ehh. I am looking to build either four bookshelf type speakers, and a center channel, or two towers, and two rear bookshelfs, plus a center channel. I don't know anything at all about home audio. (M5 don't even post that i know nothing of car audio either, i see that coming) But, i do know my goals. This system is purely for music. I use the speakers built into my dell monitor for movies because I can't focus on the movie otherwise (too distracted adjusting and tweaking settings). I like my music very loud, to the point where it's only safe to play when the neighbors as well as the 'rents are at work. (10a-4p m-f =P) I was thinking maybe, a 6.5" a 3" and a horn per bookshelf speaker, or for the towers, two 8" speakers, a 6.5", a 3" and a horn. Leaning towards passive crossovers (built by me) for simplicity. I would like the midbass to have a strong punch to it, but not overwhelming. The substage is very confusing for me. Every subwoofer i have owned, or used, was (or is) super cheap, non-standard, and performed well above my expectations for such a goofy and improper setup. I seem to be quite partial to bandpass enclosures, though i repeatedly hear they aren't optimal for home use. What has me excited the most is, I have never had a proper enclosure. All have been too small, and the bandpass enclosures were super ghetto. Like, duct tape and the side of my computer seal the port (the computer is a port wall for christs sake). I was thinking, Four 12" subwoofers. They will have to be budget subs, $75ea including shipping. I love chopped and screwed/slowed music, Decaf is definitely a force to be reckoned with in my iTunes library. My favorite songs peak right around 28 hz, so i would like a ridiculous low end. I will most likely draw up a design and have the box made, due to my substantial lack of proper tools. Lastly, i would like to try to have the speakers match. I'd like one color for all the speakers, preferably black. Tweeters and horns are excluded from this, as chrome and shiny stuff dominates the market apparently. Thanks for the feedback, real excited to hear what you guys have to say. I will be assembling the towers first, here is my idea for them: 8" Dayton Point-source (2 per tower) 6.5" Eminence sealed-back Mid-range (1 per tower) Selenium Super tweeter (1 per tower) Let me know what you think. I'm so tired i'm drooling on my keyboard. Time for sleep, and dreams of better setups!

I am looking for an amp for my room, a 5.1 amp/receiver, with a sub rca out for sure. I don't need a huge amount of sq, i just require it to sound good enough for a party, i.e. doesnt clip out at medium volumes up. I need it to get loud. My franken speakers are odd, in the sense that they take power very well, and sound much better than i think they should for $20 walmart speakers. I'd post a pic, but I don't feel like getting laughed at anymore. I don't care about it doing rated power (ie a pyle pro can claim 2,000w, but put out 800w), i just need at least a solid 75-125w per channel, actual output. EQ would be a cool option, not necessary. Budget is $200. Alternatively, A far more powerful 2.1 amp/receiver is also desirable. The ghetto hoopty speakers i have now are getting trashed and replaced quite soon. No idea with what, but it will definitely be worthy of being in the same room as the letters "SQ"
  14. Just asked disp, because i like numbers. i dont know that anything can be made of it. I vaguely explained a trunked car. for accuracy ill use an s80. all the candidates are roughly that size.
  15. i guess i'd do subs back port up. no need for double the rms. headroom, and showoff room. they are like $450 brand new.
  16. I better cover my ass before M5 grills me, and anyone in a ten block radius; This is just a query, i am constantly shifting in ideas and arrangements. as gas goes up though, this is looking more appropriate than four 15's in an SUV. Anyone with the formulas on tap, what does three 12's with 4" Peak to peak excursion equal out to in terms of displacement?
  17. lolz. if you steal and think they want you back at their store? Special....lol
  18. He probably just dosn't want it to sound 'bad' for his ear thats all. 12,000wrms technically, but yes and yes.
  19. Power will be plentiful (4krms) per sub. would subs back port up be good for loud and low? I simply need stupid loud at a peak of 30hz. hoping for high 40's on music. if not much better.
  20. pics and sepcs? couldnt find them anywhere.
  21. Sorry, by SQ i simply mean, not mud. thats all. not mud lol. If it isnt tripping and pissing over the notes im happy. just have no idea how to port it when its a box for three twelves, in a half hex. (two subs 45 degrees or somethin rotated, one straight back) If you know an efficient way to port it in the trunk, i will say to hell with SQ and only play one-note rap songs to honor my substage. Bass is a strange addiction.....
  22. Make sure you only have a battery under the hood. Perfect setup there.
  23. well, i picked it for its ungodly displacement. i know its not the ideal sq sub. nowhere in the same (town, state, country, continent, planet?) realm. Edit on amps as well. just headroom, and playroom.
  24. How will an HCCA sound in a sealed box, stuffed liberally? looking for a 30hz peak in a trunk car. SQ is priority, but with the ability to take your breath away. Three 12's, and three RF 4000BD's. electrically yada yada...... this is speculative, sifting through, as usual.
  25. "that was louddddd" Lol. Cool system man. Those N3's good for 25-32hz?
