How Close ?
He means inside the box... like how far does the bottom of the sub have to be from the wall inside of the box. I'd say 1 inch or so... Just enough to get ventilation out of the pole vent...

please tell me it isn't true
yeah... i'm just confused as to why the sub still played last night??? nothing changed between last night and this morning... There is not batt in my car, just under the hood. I took my car to the shop and they said that it was probably my voltage meter. Could be... I don't know. But I'm so confused about this sub... I mean it played last night, and it won't play now... I talked to Scott... He couldn't figure it out and so I'm sending it in. I'm baffled.

Just kidding. It wasn't the h/u. The sub played last night, but after just sitting there overnight, now it won't play. Odd huh? Sending it in this afternoon. :'( One good note: AA (and Fi) customer service rocks! Scott's amazing. Glad I went with this company!

I put the DMM on the coils and everything was good. The sub isn't blown. I got it to play. I have no idea why it smelled sooo bad... What had happened was my voltage spiked to 16.1 and the h/u went funky I guess... I had to reset my h/u back to factory settings to get the sub output to work again. Who knows... Looks like I'll be takin my car in to get that looked at... I do know what distortion sounds like... I don't push my equipment too hard. I left myself around 300 watts of "spare" over the RMS to make sure my sub didn't get 'hurt'. I can hear it when it's time to turn it down... Thanks guys and srry for the false alarm... odd problem though. The good news is I finished my new box!!! yay

It's a dual 2. I should set the DVM to 200 in the ohm section right? I hate DVM's. Mine never seems to work right. And ya know, I've been bumping with the sub all summer, and the settings are exactly the same as they have always been, and i've played the cd i was using many, many times...

please tell me it isn't true
Aight I was bumping hard for bout 20 min or so, and then all the sudden my sub just stopped playin, and my whole car smelled like.. well you know. Rotten eggs or something. Amp is still on perfect, all connections checked. I know what happened, but I guess I just need someone else to tell me so I'll admit it.

oh ya i left a ton of room 4 bracing thanks 4 ur help bro

port direction
Oh ok. Now this might be personal opinion, but do you think that 3.5 inches of clearance from the bottom the sub to the wood on the bottom is enough? I'm pretty sure it should allow plenty of ventilation, but i just want to make sure. Thanks

port direction
ahh i see. So the only question is whether i should fire the port to the right or left... one will make it louder to me, and one will make it louder to the mic. hmmmm... opinions? Thanks for that thread bro

port direction
In my signature: 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Very flat car... pretty good sized cabin. This is for a daily driver only, not for competition. I'm just looking for which direction will give me a best compromise between a low freq w/o losing too much spl. thanks

port direction
I am building a new enclosure to put in the trunk of a car... It will be built with the sub facing upward, so which direction should i face the port? Should it fire towards the front, side, or back? I do not want to fire it towards the back if I do not have to because it make the trunk lid rattle more... Please help me w/ this asap... Thanks guys.

Havoc 15 vids
I wish... I really can't tell you what I'm hitting because I have only been to one competition before... I hit a 137.5 w/ my old setup, and I can tell you that this one is a lot louder. If I could go somwhere to get it metered I would, but there aren't any comps near me.

box for AA Havoc 15"
Honestly, if you can fit it, I'd do it. Just MAKE SURE you have a good subsonic filter and turn it on. But AA recommends up to 4.5, and if you can make a box that big I really think this sub would slam and get low real good in it. WinISD says you'll have your highest gain (right over 2.5 dB) at 36-41 htz, with 0 dB @ 30 htz and a f3 of 27.5 htz. Songs such as White Girl by Jeezy, In the Hood by Trae, Hood Nigga by Gorilla Zoe, and of course Late Night Tip by Three 6 will absolutely SLAM in that kinda setup. (there's a free program called Spectrum Analyzer Pro that allows you to analyze songs real time in increments down to 1/24 an octave... and it also gives "real time peaks": aka what frequency is hitting the hardest at that point in the song. It's a lot like Audacity, but real time, as in listening to the song and watching the frequency spectrum) What amp you wanna run it with? Oh and thanks bro!

Yeah I do use it. The majority of rap songs (especially the ones I demo to) have bass that is right up to the limits of my system. However, the bass knob is great for songs other than rap (it is easy to bump to country or gospel w/ that thing!) or a song that has 'weak'/quiet bass in it. I just use it as needed. My gains are set w/ the knob turned all the way down. I really like that thing tho. I do use it quite often, as every song is different. And thanks!

Fi Q 12" vs AA Havoc 12"
Yeah... It is rated at 800 watts bridged, but says it "typically" puts out 1000, so it will push it well. As far as BTL vs Mayhem, they are both SPL woofers. The Mayhem will probably cost you a lot more than a base BTL without any options would. Yes, it is correct to compare the Havoc to the Q... They are very similar woofers with fairly similar goals (they are both SQ/daily woofers). As I said, the two woofers sound very alike, so your choice can be based on price (the Q is cheaper), looks, and maybe even the petty differences between the two. Look at this website for more info on AA drivers- http://www.bladeice.com/ascendant.php

Autocraft Titanium batt. Big 3 w/ 1/0 18 farad cap (tell me it doesn't work, but it isn't the same w/o it...) Stock alt (120 amps... has the car's comp. still hooked up to it. you can see the voltage drop real fast at the beginning of bass, then climb slowly up through the note as the alt kicks in. my voltage literally gets higher when a song is blasting than when i'm just driving. it idles and sits at 14.8-15.1 but will drop as low as 13 in a heavy song and get up to 15.6 after bumping some songs. It goes all over the place, but it stays over 13 always and almost never goes below 14.4 or when driving.) I really haven't done anything special to the electrical system...

Fi Q 12" vs AA Havoc 12"
Ok. As far as a Q vs Havoc: they are very similar subs. They sound VERY alike... probably so alike that you could not tell much a difference between the two. I, personally, would choose the Havoc because it looks better and is rated to take a little more power. And for your SPL sub, get a Fi BTL... a 12" BTL will cost you less than 400, and it is STRAIGHT SPL. https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraudio.com/...view.shopscript That is a link to the BTL subwoofers. You are wanting to get two subwoofers right? Because SPL and SQ are completely opposite...
