woot! Bought a Avalanche!
So far I love it. The interior is far nicer than anything I have owned before. Plus I am a LARGE guy- 6'1" 400 lbs. My lil Zuki was a tad tight.LOL. I forgot my other plans for it. Needs a new Windshied- it is cracked.(The sales lady advertised it for 2 grand less than the dealer wanted...so they had to honor it. But would only sell it to me as is) Front inner fender is damaged- but the replacement part is in the bed. Then- Tint the windows Drop it at least 3" in front, and do a self leveling air ride out back. Probably run 22's with some 285/45's. Probably do the chrome grille and tailgat handle cover Maybe smooth and paint the rear plastics

woot! Bought a Avalanche!
Been wanting a new daily- and here it is! Been gathering for a systen in the Burb- but started thinking that if I bought an Avalanche- i could do the 15's in the bed...still have room for 5(4 boys)...and drive it daily. Then being that I have bought Crescendo amps(and generally like orange), I set out to find a orange Av...and I did. It was at a dealer 30 miles away, so my eldest son and I went Monday evening to drive it. Just to see if they would fit my bill for a daily. I loved it. But, my credit was destroys from my divorce last year, I didn't think I could finance one- but they took my info anyway. Then lunchtime Tuesday, I got a call to come on down. My interest rate sux(expected) but the payments are not bad at all.(I did put a whollop of a down payment) Plus it'll put me building my credit again. Spec: 2007 Chevey Avalanche 125K miles (it drives like new though) 5.3 - I think, haven't even looked Automatic LT2 - Leather, Wood, Console, power everything. Basically everything BUT sunroof and 20"wheels. System plans- 2 15" DSS Ethos Crescendo BC3500 and C1100.4 Singer 250 or 270 amp Alt H/U and Mids yet to be determined. Will take some more pics later today and post up.

01 'Zuk vs 18" xcon
I was space limited to 6.9 at 33. Same box I built at the beginning of this thread. I am thinking maybe I have the SSF too high on the nendo. I am at work right now without the truck. I'll try some different things when I get back in.

01 'Zuk vs 18" xcon
I was figureing that maybe the higher wattage helped to drive out the lower notes. The old sub would bounce the wiper blades on the ow notes...not this setup. BUT it still hits very hard. I am not complaining.

It is a bit strange honestly. Completely different sound than my first xcon...but it is at roughly half the power I had before. It sounds way more like the IA DR than it does the first Xcon. the 'higher' bass really tickles your throat...but it doesn't seem to like the low notes as much. I think it is power related. Thought about wiring it to 1 ohm....but I am not taking any chances on blowing another sub.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
I have to admit the new ford trucks are 'nicer' IMO than the new chevy's. But I don't buy new vehicles.... A couple of my coworkers have newer('11 or '12) F150 4x4's...the interior on those trucks are sweet(for an american truck).

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
Woohoo, Just ordered a crescendo 1100.4 on their Cyber Monday sale! yay! That takes care of my amps. Now to pay off my DSS 15's I have on the lay a way plan. M5- Since you are looking a Chevy trucks....I have been looking at the Avalanche myself. I have owned a 04 Yukon XL, 04 silverado ex cab, and currently have a 01 Burb Z71. my burb has over 300K miles. I put a junkyard 5.3 in it at 297K. I love chevy trucks. ut I really like the 07-up Avalanches. I will have one by this spring. Probably where all this audio gear will wind up.

Makes me feel better...it sounds good for '1000' watts. for sure...we pounded it pretty good a couple of times. Anyone repair Skar amps?

It is something with the amp. Ran the RCA's to the Mid amp and had output to my mids. So then I pulled the Sub to check the internal wiring, looked ok. next, I drug out my box with my 10" redlines and wired them up...Nada. At this point I knew the amp was the issue. Well- guess what I JUST had arrive....my BC3500 I bought from Sean(W140). Wired the sub to 4 ohms and hooked up the crescendo. we had boom again. the crecendo at 'only' 900-1000 rms at 4 ohms slams the xcon. though it is only temporary. Now I did find something that was concerning to me...the Xcon I just recieved, is quite a bit different from my first one. My first one had triple leads ran under the spider pack, and the spider pack was black, and flush to the top of the recess. My first X- 18"D1 The new one is altogether different. First is the exposed leads. Looks like an Icon the someone posted a few days ago with a piece of felt to soften lead slap. The spider is down in the bottom of the recess. you can see bare metal were it appears to have been ground and scraped clean. I feel like it was reconed...Anyone else find this weird? I think Joe bought it straight from SSA, I could be mistaken. Pic of Xcon I have now- 18"D2

01 'Zuk vs 18" xcon
Man- I am stressing out tonight. Got around to re installing the 18" box > mounted amp(didn't disconnect anything as far as wiring.) > Installed sub > Turned on expecting great bass again....nothing. First I went through the H/U sub section to make sure all were correct, then I checked amp connections, looked for protect light, everything looks normal. Even though the power lights were on, decided to check the fuses, and the one from the Battery to the amps was showing signs of getting real hot at some point. Changed it out to be safe. Made no difference. So I am thinking 1 of 4 things. either 1) amp is shot, 2) H/U rear RCA output has failed, or 3) wiring issue inside the box. 4) Sub has issues(which I doubt) Got dark on us, So in the morning, first thing I am doing...cutting tie wraps- running rca's for bass amp to the front amp- if it works the the radio/rca's are fine. then I will pull the sub and look for issues inside the box. If that don't work- I will swap out the amp to verify the Sub is good. The other note to add, is that we had to jump the truck off from sitting for a few weeks...not sure why that would be an issue. and the kicker 15 was working fine right before we pulled it out and put the 18 in. Guess I'll figure it out tomorrow.
