  1. Just read thru this whole thread- some really awesome photo's man!
  2. Saw a maroon one at our local 1/8 mile track...he surprised some folks- Car was rolling out! That black and chrome looks awesome!!
  3. Cool stuff Quentin. you don't realize how large those ships are til you see them up close. After Katrina- I was working in the South Pass field near the SW Pass opening to the gulf- and for some reason they weren't letting the ships in, so they were anchoring at the mouth of the pass. They were about 2 miles away from our facility(about 10 of them) an they were huge! We used to buzz them in our Helicopter just to check them out.
  4. 4x4x4? That alot of room! lol- should be able to build whatever you want. Quentin- thanks for the links- they are now saved to my favorites for future reference. Plugged in my box #'s and it was within an inch of with winisd did when I built it...but alot easier.
  5. I had planned to go spectate, but stuck in Lousianna working til saturday afternoon.
  6. Hope you have a speedy recovery. I understand the concept of needing to have atleast the ports width distance to the nearest obstruction for the box to 'breathe'. I don't understand why a loading wall would help or not. Wouldn't a loading wall essentially lengthen the port?
  7. OK- I have read more than a few times on here about 'loading' a sub or port off of objects. Can someone offer me a laymans explanation of how this affect the sound/output? Tried to do a search with no luck.
  8. yep- build logs rock. Can't wait to see the build.
  9. To get it a companion and use them in my Burb, with a Crescendo or Sundown 3500. I have NO complaints with the Xcon- Ran across it for sale here and got a deal I couldn't refuse. Figured it was gonna be a minute before doing the Suburban and decided to put it to use temporarily in my daily driver/son's future truck. Link to my build thread- http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/60292-01-zuk-vs-18-xcon/ Thanks for the input guys- it is appreciated.
  10. um yep. If the Xcon I have is any indication to the rest of the line- they are badass indeed.
  11. I figured it was good to go. Not worried about it too much while I am driving it... ------------------------------------- "Motor size doesn't mean everything. The quality of steel and ferrite can change it all. Y35 vs Y40 or w/e." ------------------------------------- Right- that's why I posted that I knew it had nothing to do with it- but to my son just learning, he was amazed.LOL
  12. Just bought a NIB Death Row, going to power it woth a Skar 1500. It is the 'old'(last year. I guess you would say) 1000w version. I am sure like most IA stuff these subs are conservatively rated, and it is a 'music' build. i shouldn't have to worry too much about overpowering right? I only ask cuz this is going to be my 15yo's truck next yr. I am teaching him how to use his senses(hearing/smell, and common) to not overdrive the gear, but he is a teenager.LOL On a side note- It is funny that when visually comparing to my Xcon- they are so close in all deminsions(which I realized has little to do with power handling), yet the X is rated for almost double.
  13. just thought you was done.
  14. fixed it for you! haha-- that is awesome! A great one stop shop for the car audio DIY'er, with quality gear and good prices, is a great idea.
  15. Well- went to install the IA...and it is just a scosh larger in outside diameter- and I cut my top baffle to JUST fit the Xcon. ugh. Gonna have to figure out the solution,,,maybe I can find a rabbit bit to enlarge the outer baffle hole. But til then- everyone likes sub comparison pics right? pre '13 IA Death Row 18 vs SSA Xcon 18 If you look above the DR- you can see where my tweeter dangling from my Coaxial mounted in the roof.LOL Death Row leads Xcon leads IA's booty shot...I like the cast in flutes on the basket... Xcon Booty shot IA Coil shot...couldn't get the Xcons due to lighting Well that's all I got for right now- Singer said my alternator is on schedule. I am working over this hitch, so I won't be off til the 20th, then back to work on the 23rd....hopefully I'll have my alt by then, and I'll get the box squared, and I'll me done.LOL Then on to the BURB!
  16. Awesome review! Definately got my attention....Looking forward to some 18's being released.
  17. love some outside mirror flex!
  18. I'm not either, due to being drunk and stupid when I was 18...over half my life ago. I have guns that will be left to me by my dad. I have been wanting to get a lawyer to get my rights back. My ex's husband is a cop and says I could probably get all the way back to a conceal carry at this point(due to the nature of my felony being non violent, so long ago, and no other trouble with the law)...but I better do something before our gov passes something to revent me from having the chance.
  19. My new IA DR D2 showed up today. Got it off ebay from a shop in MS. Sub is BNIB. Pulled it out for some pics. Will be swapping it into the Zuk tomorrow and storing the Xcon D1 for the Burb Build. Hope it at least sounds pretty close to the Xcon. But barring something unexpected, this is the permenant sub for the Zuk...
  20. good to see they took good care of you.
  21. I need a decent camera to get some video with. Picked my son up from school today...and we are pounding it a bit. and Gunner say- you broke the speaker...what speaker? I asked. turned around to see, and the Coaxial stalk and tweeter are hanging by the tinsels from the drivers side rear Pioneer speaker!! The rears mount in the roof, so I guess they took more of a beating than they could handle.LOL
  22. that is bad ass. love the red.
  23. sorry to hear that man...keep your head up.
  24. I love my xcon! awesome choice in subs.
  25. Lee Carter replied to joe79's topic in Build Logs
I love my xcon- I bought it used so I didn't have to worry about break in time. They are amazingly clean sounding though. I've have systems with 4-10's, 3 12's, and have a pair of 15s in my Passat...but this 1 18 is louder and cleaner that any of those setups.
