  1. Wow- must've missed that. I waited a LONG time to get my DSS's, but Q compensated me for it. I ended up trading them for my Tantrics, before ever putting power to them. But hearing Senchez and Lee's trucks at finals, I liked what I heard. One thing I learned from finals- there are MANY great Sub Brands out there. I will say that I LOVE my SSA xcon. And I just bought a lil nissan for my boy....and leaning towards some SSA dcons for it.
  2. ^^^ HAHAHA! I have used onlinecarstereo alot back years ago, without issue. But more recently(about 18 months ago) I tried to order a few items on separate orders, and 2 of the 3 got the dreaded this item is out of stock email. But I was never charged for them- it was an inconvenience though. Not that I won't use them in the future- I will just call and make sure it is in stock first. I've bought quite a bit from Sonic as well, only had 1 occurrence with them where the item was sold out. I recently bought a battery from CarAudioGiants, and was a bit sketched out due to never hearing of them before, but it was a good transaction, and a good price for the battery.
  3. Welcome back to SSA! Fellow Alabamian here too...but a LONG way from Huntsville.lol
  4. beg, borrow, steal...lol
  5. Just pointing out that all subs have wait times. DSS would be quickest I am sure. and I have heard horrific long waits for Tantric stuff. This is why I found some 2nd hand Tantrics, to not have to deal with the company directly. DSS stuff pounds too. All things being equal, and the room to build a proper enclosure, I like the SP4 out of those.
  6. OK- as I said- been doing some trading. Finally took some 'new' equipment pics. Also picked up a fourth battery that was local. It was recommended to have 3 group 31's, but since I already had 2 hc1800, I picked up 2 more. 300 ah worth. Traded the DSS's for some 18" Tantric HDD's. Going to modify the box for the 18's. Port will be a bit small- if it makes noise, I'll build another down the road. going to try to have it playing by SBN. 3 of the 4 batteries(the other in still in the box) Taking measurements for the guys selling me some buss bars- they will be 7" between lugs, Mine are 6-5/8". So I'll have a small gap between each battery. 18" Tantric HDD's, traded the DSS 15's. I wanted 18's to begin with, so now I have them. Crappy cell phone pics... BC5500 Symphony 800.4
  7. I'd have posted pics by now- but its been a rough few day with my Grandmother hospitalized an hour and half away. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow of the equipment. Stuff on the floor- 3 HC1800 Kinetik's 2 DSS ethos 15's 1 BC 5500 1 S800.4 1 Dual alt kit 1 350A Singer Going to do the battery box this week. Still need to figure out my mids and highs. I have 2 sets of RE XXX6.5's I can run- OR some Massive Audio rk6's as well as summo 6.5 subs. Run the RE's front and rear would be simple. Or run the massive comps up front, and the 6.5 subs as midbass. Leaning to the XXX's right now. Not wanting to cut my truck up plays into this as well. Got a msg in to T/M about some battery buss bars, but haven't heard back from them. Some guys on facebook and about to build some too- may go that route. or just wire them together. I don't know.
  8. Yeah I msg them yesterday about some buss bars..haven't heard back yet. patients pays off though. Steve- you built the bottom bars right?
  9. drooling .... I love my TM stuff.
  10. I found that video VERY interesting I have a Q1200 and l like it fine. but unless you just want the brand name- I'd compare these hard. Makes me wonder the the Hifonics 1200.1 is the same as mine.
  11. Can't wait to see how this turns out!
  12. Worked it out to keep the Avalanche. Then done some horse trading on Amps, and bought a few more items to finish the build up. Most likely start reinstalling everything next week.. Changes - Sold my 1100.4 and bought a S800.4, as well as, traded my BC3500 for a BC5500. Bought a dual Alt bracket and a Singer 350 amp alt. Going to run stock alt/battery for the truck/ radio/ S800.4. and the 350a alt and 3 (or 4) Kinetik 1800's will power the sub stage. Waiting on the Alt and the mids amp to come in, and I'll post some new equipment pics.
  13. Well- decided to do it the easier way Stock alt, stock battery for the truck....350A Singer and 3 kinetik 1800's to power my BC 5500. Thanks for the help guys.
  14. It is so subjective...I ran some cheap ass ones from autozone in my last build for yrs without issue. but a quick search on google and I found several brands. They are so low voltage and current, I am suprised you are having an issue.
  15. 2007 Avalanche. 5.3L. I haven't fooled with the factory ground cable from the battery. but I do have other runs to the frame and body. If the voltage drops- it is going to drop everywhere correct? I guess what I am really trying to do it keep from running a 'bank' in the bed. I am always throwing crap in the back. So I have my batteries under the hood, and wanna keep it that way.
  16. I have a 270 amp alt now that I have charging 2 batteries. I read about the ground thing after I installed mine- I don't even know what people are talking about- as my alt grounds through the mount (no ground wire that I am aware of). I do realize that I will only maintain a 13.6 charge with the PCM control. I just dont want it to move from there If I can't then I am going to sell my alt, reinstall my stock one, and order a 370 from singer and run it dedicated(one wire) for my bass amp/batteries. and HOPE it is enough.
  17. I bought a Q1200.1 last yr, and If I were buying a 300 dollar amp again- I'd pay the extra for the Crescendo. 1700 w in that small a footprint is amazing. The IA is a BEAST, and not even in the same category IMO. I shoulda bout the 40.1 when they were on sale way back when.
  18. Being an impulsive person- I done jumped off and ordered a dual alt bracket. Figuring 2 270 amp alts would be plenty for my setup. I was thinking, just run everything parallel, and rock on. But now I am reading that it isn't that simple. My Avalanche's alt is pcm controlled. Can I just tie in another pigtail for the 2nd alt? And have both alts charge both of my batteries? Current Parts- 1 270a Alt (would like to run 2) 2 kinetik 1800's 1 BC 5500 (will prolly be at .5 when said and done, hence wanting 500 amps on tap) 1 S800.4
  19. They are selling like hot cake I bet. Seems everyone is getting one.
  20. Going to be hard to get as much bang for the buck other than the ethos. maybe check out the FU subs. TaylorFades 12" shootout he liked them second to DSS out of the subs he tested. How much power you looking at running?
