Voltage drop problem
I have 2 fi SSD woofers in my 2001 Celica and the lights dim real bad every time the bass hits. I have a 2.4 farad capacitor, is that even worth putting on? or should I go for a new alternator or battery

Need some advice on new setup
I like that idea, but I was thinking about doing 2 Fi Q's Sealed with this amp http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/Co...id/0/rid/123284 Do you think that amp would be a waste of money? also for a sealed box, is it ok to buy a pre-fab box on ebay or somewhere? I know that is a dumb question but I was just wondering because there isn't as much involved in a sealed box as there is in a ported

Fi Q 18 on a kicker zx750 sealed enclosure question
So I just bought my new car, a toyota celica, and I am going to have a custom box built for my q 18. with a kicker zx750, how many cubic feet should I go for? I am looking for a flat frequency responce and a good balance of sq and spl. I know these are all really rough terms but I just could use some advice.

Subwoofers + Convertibles = ?
Did you need tons of sound deadener in the trunk too?

Subwoofers + Convertibles = ?
How did it sound when the top was down? did the trunk rattle too bad?

Subwoofers + Convertibles = ?
I am looking to buy a new car and I have a question for anyone who knows, or has experience with what subwoofers sound like in a convertible. The car I am looking to buy is a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gs and I was wondering if subwoofers would be worth putting in. I know that is waaaay too broad of a question because everyone has different definitons of sound quality and volume, but I would just like some opinions maybe from people who have put subwoofers in a convertible before.

Blowing up my car with pure sound (2 years to go!!)
I drive an expedition and it gets around 11 miles to the gallon which yes is horrible, but is a sacrifice you would have to make if you want to do something crazy like 4 18's. I am only 17 and have gone through 3 systems in the past year and if you are worried about gas mileage on a car, you should try paying for gas before you spend your paycheck on subwoofers. That is just my advice, and I think you would be happy at least starting off with doing a smaller amount of watts on two 12's or something. It would be much more financially possible, and you would be surprised at how loud you can get two twelves on 2k watts and you would not have to get a new car. I actually sold my lexus es 300 to buy the expedition just to put a bigger woofer in it, so I know where you are coming from, but I think you need to look into the cost a little more.

:morepower1:So on friday I got home from school to find a big brown box on my pourch and I was like a kid on christmas morning. I opened up the box and out came the woofer. It was amazing, a huge step up from the 12 inch L7. The only thing I noticed wrong was that the rubber cap circling the woofer was a little too big, and the holes for the screws had not been drilled throught the rubber. I was so happy I didn't care one bit though, and I threw the woofer in as fast as I could. It is extremely loud and clean and gets low without distortion. I played for a while and was taking it all in and the woofer practically pulled itself out of the box while I was playing a 20HZ tone. I went home and pulled it out again and got some larger screws and now it is perfect. I could not be more satisfied with this woofer, well unless I had another one Thank you Fi Well I know this doesnt do much without pics or a video so here: Sorry about the crappy camera

Kicker L7 with Zx750 Enclosure Help
Yeah I thought it sounded stupid too thats why I asked you guys. I hate those guys at the car shop they just want you to buy the stuff they are selling. I'll tune it again thanks for the help

Kicker L7 with Zx750 Enclosure Help
Yeah I didn't get one of those boxes. So if I turn the bass boost down all the way I won't have to worry about doing any damage to it? The guy at the car audio shop told me the sub would have to get used to the box and that was the problem.

Kicker L7 with Zx750 Enclosure Help
Well I set the bass boost half way up and then turned the volume on the head unit 75 percent of the way up and then turned the gain up until it sounded bad, then turned it down

Kicker L7 with Zx750 Enclosure Help
Ok I bought a new box, and it is 3 cubic feet, custom built to kicker specs, but now I have another problem. I was listening to it and my car started to smell really bad, and it was coming from the port, so I turned it off completely. I played it very quietly again to make sure it wasn't burnt out, and it wasn't but now I am not sure what to do. It used to be in a sealed box 1.4 cubic feet. Can anyone offer some advice?
