  1. Ok.... so what has happened to all the rap music nowadays? Used to be that there were SOME groups who made good heavy bass music without all the cussing, but it seems that every song to play through Slacker or Pandora is FULL of explicit lyrics! Don't get me wrong.... I crank 'em when I don't have my 10 year old with me, but It's pretty much a lost cause trying to find something that he can listen to with me. BTW.... I don't push it too hard with him (half volume) as I don't wanna damage his hearing, but he does love to hear some bass. That being said.... can someone please point me in the direction of some kid friendly bass tunes to listen to with my little man?
  2. Check the ssa store. I liked the incriminators. Ok....my bad. The pics for the IAs didn't show the tweets or crossovers, but I see in the description that they are included. Wish I could find some locally to check out....
  3. I'm guessing you're running the SPR-60Cs? I see a lot of good reviews on those. That's definitely in the budget range...... I'll have to check out a set at one of the shops. Thanks for the input! You would be gussing correct!! Chek them out and see what you think. I definitely will.... just remembered that a coworker put a set in his Tundra. I'll be hitting him up for a true in-vehicle demo. Thanks again!

  5. Just curious as to whether you ever got these in. Looking at those myself and would like some first hand opinion on how they sound.
  6. Check the ssa store. I liked the incriminators.I saw those....and they look nice, but I was thinking more along the lines of a set with the tweets and crossovers. Anyone tried the Crescendo CZ set? Those and the Skars are all I see here in my range. Or should I purchase tweets and mids separately?
  7. Yeah, that's the plan. I bought all my speakers based on customer reviews off of Amazon.com. I really don't know why those Polks got such great reviews, unless I'm losing a lot by not deadening the doors. Didn't think I'd need that with only 40 watts, but those Kickers in the dash seem louder on just the 17 from the hu. Guess I should try that first, since I'm sure I'll need it when I do bridge the amp. But what are some good 100 watt component sets you guys have been happy with in the $100-150 range? Might could stretch 200, but that's pushing it.
  8. Ok... so when I started this build, it was on a budget and kinda rushed along. My hearing isn't that great anymore after years of drumming in a metal band, so I didn't want to go too far. My current setup is powered by a Kenwood amp pushing 40x4 and 300x1 at 4ohm. I really love it....but since installing these 2 Dcons, my front stage just ain't hangin. Let me say.... I can't imagine some of these setups u guys have. These 2 Dcons are bangin on only 300. Plenty for me, with my hearing loss and all. I'm running Polk db651's front and rear, with Kicker 4" in the dash off the head unit. Think going the bridged route at 100x2 would be better, and lose the rears...since they barely exist now anyways. What would be a good fit for me? 2004 Scion Xb....
  9. Fixed. Thanks. No problem.... for these LLOOOWWSSS! Never had anything hit like these.......
  10. Looks great! One small suggestion though..... we're customers, not cusomters. (Customer Service tab at bottom) ;-)
  11. I hope more people figure that out. I'm doing my part to show 'em......

Thanks again for the welcome guys! As for pics, I did create an album in the member directory. Have a look.... and keep in mind this was a BUDGET build. But I just couldn't bring myself to not put in some killer bass....

My '04 xB RS 1 upgrades..... nothing fancy, just a nice...... clean sounding system on a budget.

About to try it now..... ok....I see now. No image extensions in this community. Well I tried elsewhere and got the same results. How do I post pics here? I'm entering the img codes at the beginning and end of the link to no avail.

Thanks guys...I'll be posting more soon. Went by the local "cookie cutter" audio shop today and those guys were blown away by the lows these things hit! And so am I.....
  16. That I'm not the expert on.... just following advice from others. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in. I will say though, that on the SMD link to my box design.... the guy who designed it recommended setting the ssf to 28 hz. That's 4 hz lower than the box itself.
  17. That may work for ya.... but here's the inlines. Work very nice! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Harrison-Lab-F-Mod-FMOD-30hz-Subsonic-Rumble-Filter-XOs-/290506420336? Just make sure u can spare an extra couple of inches past amp dimensions if u do go with inlines. They just fit under my seat.
  18. More like platinum!

But I gotta say SSSA is the shizzzz.... put a set of 12" dcons in the ride and WOW! What a difference!! Blowing people's minds with these things.....
  20. Awesome! Got my dcons during the last sale.....what a difference quality subs make in a system. Noone can believe it when I tell em it's "ONLY" 300 watts....especially when the roof of the ride starts rippling......hehe
  21. Read a bad review about the in-lines causing noise.... but how about this: http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Storm-Laboratories-S4EQ-Equalizer/dp/B000O50VEQ/ref=pd_sim_e_9 Sub crossover frequency range of 30-250 Hz. Seems to be what a lot of people are buying them for, with good reviews. Not to mention extremely affordable. Wrong thing....won't let me edit. This has ssf. http://www.amazon.com/Power-Acoustik-BASS-12C-Restoration-Proccessor/dp/B003UR4RWW/ref=pd_sim_e_57 First product has a LPF, not a HPF/SSF on the subwoofer channel. Long Answer The last product has a HPF/SSF adjustable from 35hz to 80hz with a relatively shallow slope (12dB). The enclosure you linked to from SMD is supposedly tuned to 32hz, so your ssf will be a bit higher than your enclosure tuning. Whether that tuning point and/or shallow slope will work for you--I don't know. Wouldn't hurt to download WinISD, model the drivers in the enclosure from SMD, and apply the filter in comparison to ~30hz 18dB filter, and compare the frequency response and excursion graphs. Perhaps someone else can chime in, currently I don't have access to WinISD. Short Answer I would use it if I needed to be playing music soon, but it may not be the best choice. I went ahead and ordered the Harrison Labs inlines. The more I read, sounded like they'd be good for my application. Most people seemed to love them. I ordered the 30 Hz version, which should put me in the safe zone. Thanks for the input!
