		SS-S Demo Ring

Yea no problem denim - I'll post an estimated time table for the demo-ring tomorrow. Came down with a cold last night, and coupled with the smoke from all these wildfires (one of which is within a mile of my home), I'm just taking it easy tonight. I'll get it up soon though

RLp sealed or Rli 10" ported: Fiberglass project

Oh man, nightmare about those T-nuts! Sorry to hear about that But pretty damn happy you're diggin' the RL-p! Definitely keep us updated

		rli-8 done yet?

As soon as we get the cone and surround back from the machinist tooling them, we will start rolling ahead with production. Since we are still waiting on these two integral parts, it is hard to give an exact estimate, but I would conservatively guess it will be about 4 more weeks. If you haven't already, drop me an email and ask to be notified when they are available - I'll fire off a message when they are! My apologies for the wait!

		RL-s early review

Thanks for the kind review Kent, happy to hear you're diggin' the new product! I like that freek-a-leek video you posted in your pics thread I'll be leavin' for a drive up north sometime tomorrow to catch a 6 hour Jerry Garcia tribute show featurin' some 23 muscians so I won't be 'round over the weekend, but I do hope you get a chance to run the head-to-head comparo with the Storm, especially interested considering the Supreme does share a few of the same parts. Enjoy

New here with a few Questions.

Well I am happy to hear it is not the speaker that is the problem. But have you located the weakness in your box? Air leak perhaps? Some loose material? Don't build another box until you figure out what the problem with the first one is 'less you inadvertently make the same mistake again!

		got rl-p's!

Speaking of which, you know where that stuff can be had at a reasonable price? I've seen it on finished boxes but never used it - would like to give it a shot myself!

		12" RLP on the way...

Your round port is essentially an open-ended cylinder. The volume of a cylinder may be found with the equasion: Pi * r^2 * h Where Pi = 3.14159 ; r = the radius of the cylinder (half of the diameter) ; h = height of the cylinder So your 4" round port has a radius of 2" and a height of 12". Thus: 3.14159 * (2 in * 2 in) * 12 in = 150.8 cubic inches 1 cubic inch = 0.0005787 cubic feet. Thus, your port will displace: 150.8 (in) * 0.0005787 (cu ft / in) = 0.087 cubic feet of volume In short, yes your online calculator seems to be on par.

		RLs question

Really tryin' to get those 8's cranked out sooner rather than later but the retooling is taking much longer than expected. Until we get the new cone and surround from the machinest there is not much we can do to expedite the process. At this point, I would estimate 4 more weeks, but it is always hard to say until you have all your parts in hand and the production has been slated. I'm workin' on it!

		got rl-p's!

Looks loud Why not just spray paint the whole box? It'll look so much nicer!.. But hey, looks are probably the least important thing here so do whatever you want

Helpful Links: Comprehensive Tips on Box Building Woofer Wiring Guide I would aim for at least 1.4 cu ft gross internal sealed box volume.

		RLs question

All SoundSplinter drivers are suitable for either home or car use. The Supreme series is geared towards home use because it requires significantly larger enclosures and more power. If you have the drive to throw nearly 50lbs of woofer in your car, along with a fairly large enclosure (check the webapges for info on size recommendations) and 1kW or more @ 4ohms, then by all means knock yourself out (or just crank up the volume and let the woofer do it for ya)! The RL-s is admittedly a bit of overkill for the mobile audio environment

New here with a few Questions.

Hello Andrew, you may also want to check to insure that you don't have loose cables (or loose anything for that matter) inside your box that may be hitting the cone during excursion. Following that, try playing it free-air (it won't take much power to get it moving to full excursion) to see if there are any noticeable problems outside of your box. If you're sure there is no outside interference and the driver is still making this noise, then it is time to send it in. Feel free to email me your video (mike -at- soundsplinter.com) and hopefully we'll get things patched up quick!

Indeed, we're gearin' up for some full-swing action here. Obviously the market for this driver won't be as big as our Premium series, which happens to be much more practical for the average user.. but now I finally have something to throw at those crazy fanatics lookin' to break their ears and use all the juice from their mobile flux capacitor (don't mind the Back to the Future reference )

Nice pic's Kent. Can't wait to hear how your testing goes Actually an official logo for the Supreme series has not yet been designed. I just busted out my Sharpie and started drawing on the demo unit so that people will be able to tell what woofer it is if the demo-ringers choose to post pic's on the various forums As a concession for being the first to carry the Linear Motor Technology, the logo will likely include "LMT" somewhere in it in order to help TC Sounds gain recognition for the product as well. At any rate, the first run of drivers is all logoless. Now get to work Kent.. wednesday my god man - take sick days, kill your boss, just plug that baby in already (not to the wall mind you)!

building a box for my rl-p's

1.1 after displacement should be good to go!

building a box for my rl-p's

It could work, but you will give up some low-frequency extension along with overall output. I would strive for at least 1.2 cu ft gross internal volume w/ 1 to 2 lbs polyfill.

Did some cosmetic enhancement on my RL-p

That looks really nice Reza! Sorry about the terminals, unfortunately those are the only size the buildhouse currently stocks. Unless you're running really long cables, you could easily step down a size, or even clip off some at the ends if you really want to ensure that there won't be stray strands at the terminal post.

Man that basket is pretty sweet - but I have to ask, how the hell is that red driver supposed to match that blue/green car in the pictures?

		Grill for RL-i 10

It's truly a bummer but I feel obligated to state that DoubleJ, the company that was going to produce some very fine grill pieces, is at this time completely unreliable. As some of you may know, they donated three grills for the Holiday Donation Drive that was held on the CarAudio.com forums last December. Unfortunately, none of the raffle winners who elected the grill prize received anything from DoubleJ. After I was made aware of this by one of the winners last month, I tried contacting him for more information and never heard from him again, even though I had corresponded with him on an unrelated matter just one week prior! Thus, I have no choice but to advise you all to stay away from that company at least until you are assured that they are performing their business duties professionally and reliably. It's really a shame, as I think the grills that they were/are going to produce are nicer than any other grills out there. But as he didn't come through on his pledge, and furthermore will not respond to any related inquiries from the winners or myself, I felt that this needed to be made clear.

		SS-S Demo Ring

If someone in the demo-ring who has experience with either of these alignments, has the inclination to try it out with the RL-s.. by all means. It should go without saying that one should start with low power and gradually move their way up, but I don't see why someone shouldn't try it out!

		In Motion: RL-s 15" LMT

Thanks denim... and for barnie, the song in the backround is off of the two-disc "K&D Sessions" compilation by Kruder & Dorfmeister. The specific track is #7 from disc one, which is a remix of the song Useless by Depeche Mode.
