  1. Currently slated to come out at $148 a piece, or $135 a piece if you order a pair

For exemplary in-home performance in a low tuned ported application, I would suggest the RL-i12 be placed in a 3 cu ft net volume enclosure, tuned to 22 Hz, with a 4" x 20" long vent. For an in-car setup, you could go with a 1.25 cu ft net volume sealed enclosure; or a ported enclosure with 2.5 cu ft net volume, tuned to 28 Hz, with at least 30 sq inches of port area. Good luck! Be careful with your gain and volume when running ported RL-i's, especially with 300wrms+
  3. Lookin' like just a couple more weeks. I'm hoping to have the RL-i8's ready to ship by April 8th or thereabouts. I'll make an announcement when they are ready to roll out. B)
  4. Yea, if anything I would be making the logo smaller. I don't want to take away from the natural beauty of the driver itself, and with too large of a logo I feel that people's eyes would be drawn towards it instead of the immaculate aesthetics of the driver itself
  5. I definitely didn't dislike the orange, though in all honesty it wasn't entirely planned to come out that way. The selected color on the sample was metallic copper, all shimmerin' and shining.. Problem was the logo ink had some kind of reaction with the paint on the surface of the aluminum cone and ended up losing some of its luster . That's why we've since moved towards the annodized aluminum cones. Now if only the printer would work a little quicker
  6. Ideally you'd want the 5 cu ft tuned down to 28 Hz.. but I guess you don't have enough space for that, so go 4.25 cu ft sealed You'll sacrifice some output, but the sealed setup should get lower than the 36 Hz tune.
  7. Thanks for the kind words Eric! .. most happy to hear you're enjoying it!
  8. You'll definitely want to be VERY CAREFUL with that amount of power. Keep the gains low and don't crank it full tilt for hours on end. If you're a responsible listener though, you shouldn't have any problems. Just remember: be careful
  9. Indeed, very cool box Eric! Nice and clean
  10. Indeed, I was giving you numbers that would've allowed you to mount the front/outside piece of your double baffle on the outter sides of your top/bottom/side pieces on the front of your box. Your new numbers will allow the side pieces to extend out an extra 0.75" in the front for the double baffle to be mounted inside the top/bottom/side pieces, instead of outside like I had imagined. In short, your numbers seem to be spot on!
  11. O jeez. You know I can't do that.. even if it is still NIB, I wouldn't feel comfortable selling a driver to someone else at retail that has already been sold once you know? So stop it with the guilt trip already and go install your woofer! B)
  12. Forgive me if I'm a little hazy this morning.. just woke up! Since the gross height of your box is 17.5", I think your port walls should be (17.5 - .75 - .75) = 16" high? On your diagram, the top of your box is labeled as 16" max width, so I think your side pieces should only be 17.5" x 16". Also, I don't see a piece listed for the back side of the box. You'll probably need one of those = 28.75" x 16" It looks like your front baffle piece should be 26.45" x 16" and the reinforcement piece should be laid on top of that at 27.2" x 17.5" - as not to affect the internal volume of your enclosure. This correlates to the following: (2) 17.5" x 16" (Left/Right Sides) (3) 28.75" x 16" (Top/Bottom/Back) (1) 26.45" x 16.75 (Inner Baffle) (1) 27.2" x 17.5" (Outter Baffle) (3) 12.5" x 16" (Port Walls) I hope I didn't royally fudge those numbers..
  13. Been there, seen that .. and still lovin' it! You best be showin' us pictures of your install too!
  14. Ouch, that's a bummer man. No idea on the turn around time for Pioneer support
  15. > how would a rl-p tuned that low in a car sound? Unecessary With the effects of cabin gain, you really don't need to tune that low to get great low frequency extension in the car. For that matter, I've always been quite happy with sealed enclosures for my car woofer experiences .. but hey some people just like more output
  16. Indeed, a 2 - 2.5 cu ft net enclosure tuned to 22-24 Hz, with 35 sq in of port area would work well for the RL-p12 on home theater duty.
  17. Given your numbers, I'm finding 2.51 cu ft net internal volume after all displacements are factored in. With end correction of (2.3 x 1/2), I'm finding a vent length of 44.15 in. Which gives me a tuning frequency of 28.34 Hz for your design.. should be a nice box!
  18. With respect to logo's, here's what I had to say about it over at CarAudio.com:
  19. Aww, come on now! That matte black is just as sexi, you're just getting used to it.. which isn't a bad thing!
  20. > it looks like foam... > ohhhh...now that i looked again that looks like a 10... I did some color/contrast balancing in the above pictures since they were taken in low light and I wanted to show more detail. In so doing, the image appears just slightly washed out (lighter) than it actually is, which is why you may be thinkin' that the surround looks foamish. I assure you it is not foam, and that the above image is of a 12" Rl-p, not a 10.. B) > Butyl ? Very similar. Just checked up on it and the actual compound is known as Butadiene Acrylonitrile or NBR synthetic rubber, known largely for its resistance to oils when compared to traditional rubbers.
  21. Sorry, no trade ins Not a foam surround, but good eye, because it is slightly different than our old santoprene surrounds. It is still rubber, can't remember which specific type off the top of my head, but it offers the same longevity and is impervious to warping and heat damage just as the santoprene, and also adheres to the glue used on the cone and basket better than the santoprene did (which is the primary reason for the change).
  22. Hey everybody, since I haven't had time to completely revamp our product pages as I am planning on doing soon, I figured I'd post some images of our new cosmetics since we have started shipping our fully black annodized aluminum coned woofers. We will henceforth be producing our entire inventory with these entirely black annodized aluminum cones, with the exception of the new RL-i8's, which will continue using painted aluminum cones (black on the front, silver on the back). Enjoy!
