as a kinda side question. will puting my future component set in kick panel sound better then a door with proper deading??? are there any other thing you can do to a door besided dynamat or raamat deadening? ive never thought of doing kicks till i saw an alero on cardomain. originally i thought it could not really be done so everything would stay out of the way of my feet.

thanks again for the awsome product. im about to make a ported box and see how that sounds. ive used sealed only on past subs. wierdly enough the spec for both the assassin and arsenal are the same for a ported box. 2.2 cubes at 30hz or something like that. so ill try both subs out in the box just for fun. not sure what ill do with the assassin. some of my friends run some pretty horrible mtx, alpine, kicker, etc cheap systems. so maybe i can convert them to a real sub. geting me some money so i can do some work on my cars electrical. ive also been playing around with this idea using a computer power supple and car amp inside... bet an assissin would make a nice sub for my room. lol

i like my polk tweets i have now. which is directing me towards polk components. or i can do a frankenstien component set using my tweeters and some other midrange woofer.....lol

ok tried to get at the alt from below but that didnt really work out to well. the alt just stuck under everything heres some pictures that can explain what i mean. engine bay battery another view of battery see it down there... batter to the left and engine to the right taken from above the battery looking down towards the alt this is from under the car. the alt is on the left.the hose on the right has some wiring in it. one of which goes to the alt. but u cant see exactly where it goes another shot from below -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- just to make sure its battery ground battery + to alt + chasis to motor ground...? or is it alt to chasis??

i dont think i can get to the alt.... ive got some pics on the way. would adding a new battery really help??? i thought the alt was source of power to the amp.

ill post some pics alittle later. im not sure on the chassis to motor part. i have to take that skirt thing that is attached under the bumper off the front of the car to get to the alt. as far as sellin the cap and geting a better battery, ill have to look for some prices but that seems like a sound idea. any links to some 0 gauge wire and a battery???

ya i guess i can try to find the cleanest playing pair i can and hope the midbass isnt horrible. but im sure a pair with 6.5" mids will have a better low end then my 5.25s

thanks for pointing that out. i just dont want to take a complete shot in the dark here; unless i either have alot of ppl say go get this set of speakers or have the chance to atleast hear them... even on a board. if i had the money id go active.... but i cant... all my money from now on is basicly goin to college stuff, insurance, and afew other things. ill be happy with a cheap pair of components that play some decent music and my lil aa arsenal. by the way if know have experience whith the big three. give me alittle help. ive got a post with a few question under >>>>>>>> Amplifiers / Head Units / Processors

ive read afew "big three how to guides" on sites and forums. guess i can start with what i am runing in the car. kenwood excelon x10d -- 600rms tsunami 1.2 farad cap **adding small 2 channel no more then 250rms (total)** 1 run- kicker 4 gauge battery---- car was baught used. evidence of this being a second battery however it is not a deep cycle i believe the stock alt is like 105 amps (not sure though) ok now with the questions. some one mensioned that a cap isnt needed becasue its just putts a bigger strain on the electrical system. however after installing the cap i noticed better quality proformance from my subs. according to some websites i have read a cap can even out the alts output. so this is what i assume happened. see bcae1.com.... that being said, cap or no cap??? what guage sould i run? what is some good wire? links to a site would be nice. ive got afew question about where to do the chassis to motor grounds. ill post some pictures of the engine bay. u can only get tothe alt from below so ill have to look at that too. ill post pics so i know i have the right wires or whatever.

ill go to circiuty carry the same hu i have and also kicker amps. see how they sound on some of the speakers (polk and kicker)there and make my decison. see how they do agaist kenwood and rf at bestbuy. wish there was a shop around here with some other brands. i cant just jump and buy some of these other brands without hearing them. though i might as well. lol think ill try a big three in the mean time. but ill start another post for the few questions that i have.

i think ill go up to circuitcity and best buy soon and listen to anything they have. to get an idea of how a similar product compares. id like to know if i would enjoy a metal tweeter over cloth... for 120 i think the polks would be nice upgrade. but ill make a decision after listen to some other options as far as amps go im still looking at a kicker on ubid.com ill try to bid on a 250.2 or something with around 100rmsx2 would you recommend me selling the cap and doin a big 3? what gauge sould i run and what are some good site that sell cheap wire. im gona go stare at my engine and see how i can do the big 3. oh and to get the 6.5" woofers in the door. the 5.25s are screwed to this plasic riser. that is mounted around a hole in the door. if the hole is big enough or to big i was gona do a simple mdf riser.

came across some polk db6501 comps. about 120 shipped off ebay. good deal? how do these stack up to comp sets like alpines type s, jbl, pioneer, and kicker?

sould i sell the cap and do big three. the cap stopped some dimming i was getin before. if i can get 60 for the cap. then do the big three for say 30-40 with 4 gauge..... higher gauge? maybe?

is it correct to assume that the 6.5 in midrange will provide better midbass then a 5.25 of the same quality or model. sonicelectronix.com is the only website ive really started to look at for comps. how do mb quart compare to brands like kicker, alpine, infinity, polk, etc. its probly more along the lines of what one's taste in sound is but what are some quality brands to look out for. im pretty set on a small kicker 2 channel. but ill take alook at some other options if anyone would like to mention them.

there are alot of kicker amps on ubid.com they look pretty decent. looks like miss read some of the info. it seem most of the 2 channels have a lpf or hpf at 80hz. which isnt to terrible for a cheap amp. the component set seem to be in the 100rms range so i was think any of the 150.2's and up

the links to sonic didnt work like i wanted but if you would please go to sonicelectronix.com and look at some of there 100 dollar range components and give me an opion that would be apprieciated.

thank you all for the posts. i think i can some ppl to buy my 6x9s and 5.25s. maybe the tweeters too. so that like 30$ a pair. if i can find a component set for like 100$ and a 2 channel for 100$ so thats a 200$ buget. more for speakers less for amp or however u wana look at it. im not including wiring. would u recomment me selling the cap and doin a big three??? i did have dimming before the cap and now i dont or very very little on the dome lights. i currently fade everything to the front anyways so no need for fill.... could throw the tweeters back there for fill if i dont sell em.. lol. if u turn it up loud enough the ppl in the back dont need speakers. these link will hopefully work. they are just some options that ive pulled up from sonicelectronix.com. there are some others but im not sure on there quality but are in the price range. this are 6.5 and 5.25 component sets. i could do a custom mount baffle or something for the 6.5 or put the 5.25s in stock location. car is 00 olds intrigue by the way. some 6.5 comp set options 5.25 comp set options so thats a start on the speakers... now for an amp. im thinking a decent 2 channel more links have to leave but here is a kicker. its a 4 channel because kicker for some reason make all there lower power 2 channels with just a lpf... kx100.4

i think i can get the kicker real cheap off ebay or ubid. if i can find people to buy my polks maybe ill run just a 2 channel to a component set what component set is good for a buget.... i dont know how much ill spend but deff under 100

i knew i would get this kinda response.... this is my first system so i was alittle hesistant to make big purchases. i avoided the big three because i didnt want to mess around under the hood at the time. i had alot more typed up for this post but my school's computer killed it so ill just paraphase some things. its hard to find some one to buy my speaker but ill try. i was thinking about using some diy speakers like dayton or what ever. using ether the polk tweets or not. but it would be passive so im guessing thats a bad idea or just not worth it. however it be fun to try ill post more later...

any input??? just tell me to go for it.... or kenwood sucks.... i dont care lol

this is basiclly the finally ungrade to my car for quite a long time. what i have installed already in my 00 olds intrigue (stock alt. no big three **unless later needed**) sony gt cdx310 reciever tsunami 1.2 far cap kenwood kac-x10d aa arsenal 12 d4 polk db series 5.25 mounted in the door's stock location db1000 tweeters db 6x9 rear deck ran all 4 gauge kicker wiring looking for a 4channel amp for under $150 to power tweets and 5.25's i really enjoy my kenwood excelon that i use for my aa. ive found a kac-x542 for 135 shipped on ebay. here is a link to crutchfield < link to crutchfields > also found kenwood's newer line excelon for about 170 shipped. the kac-x40 < link > i would like to stay below 150 so i have money for wiring and some cosmetic things. i dont want to limit myself to just kenwood amps if (and there always is) something better is out there. i just really like the look of them. id love to get my hands on that metal they use for the covers. in 4 or 5 years i can buy all the expensive chit u guys got....

just put a 15inch rf punch stage 1 behind the passenger seat of my friends s-10 regualar cab. it was and angled box starting at 7.5" at the bottem goin up to about 6.5" at the top and was 24 inches long.. sealed. it sounds pretty good. i would have ran a better sub but he got the rockford cheap.
