  1. pretty low for the tweeter. did you try underlapping them (higher xover point) with shallower slopes?
  2. ya just spending $11 will save me a lot of time and trouble fabricating something
  3. trying to talk my parents into one of those cheap kamado grills.
  4. $11, worth a try i think. I'll have to cut out the bottom so the speaker remains IB of course. I'll wait a day or two to see if you guys got a better idea. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_237XT80/XTC-8-Speaker-Baffles-6-depth.html Im actually surprised my sls 8s have lasted this long.
  5. starting the nexus 7 install. fits well with out modification. my first idea for mounting the tablet is using these straps and buckles. i was worried they might not hold the tablet firmly in place but they seem to do the trick. I realized later that the knots aren't necessary, lol I need to do some wiring and then program the steering wheel controls to finish the tablet install. moving on to the midbass install. I made baffles out of 3/4" mdf. To water proof I started with 2 coats of resin. If you've painted mdf before you know the edges are very porous so after 2 coats i decided to used a rubberized spray sealant. I think it was the rustoleum brand. The baffles are secured with 3 bolts (perhaps i should have used 4 or more bolts?). I also used butyl rope to seal the baffle to the door. And applied duct seal for the hell of it. after some rain i noticed water collecting on the baffle noted by the red circle below. i'm trying to come up with an idea on how to direct water away from the speaker. My first idea was to hack up some of these. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_237XT68/XTC-6-x8-Speaker-Baffles.html?tp=2809 and finally some pics with the door panels on. My solution for covering the midbass and everything will be one of the last things I work on. I need to make sure the doors can handle the midbass. I may go with enclosure or something if thats the case. top down view. I could have move things down and to the right a bit more. other side is a pretty close match, thank jebus
  6. agreed. it would be great if you could take a large display and adjust the screen size to match the dimensions of the trim. Kind of like when you display a 4:3 image on a widescreen and you have black bars on the sides.
  7. jealous of the screen size. makes my n7 look so tiny
  8. You could do it with a laptop to stream Pandora into VLC which would "broadcast" it on the home network then use a pi with wifi that automatically plays the stream whenever it's playing. Some of the home receivers can stream Pandora too, but not sure if they let you control it via android/ios. http://www.macworld.com/article/1159157/airplay_hack_streaming_to_any_computer.html
  9. your whole plan with the 8s, components, super tweeters together is terrible to be honest. you already have speakers that you seem to be happy with. it would be best to get them installed optimally which would included deadening the doors, sealing access holes in the door (separate the front and rear sound waves produced by the woofer), mlv, and so forth. You could also bridge the 4 channel to the front components and run the rears off something else or disable them. Set the gain and xover correctly and you shouldn't kill any speaker, unless you do so purposefully by ignoring the signs. If that's not enough output then come back with a new thread and discuss new gear.
  10. I would say there far from the best but forsure wouldn't say garbage really? lets see some measurements? oh wait
  11. please dont. crescendo's "pro audio" stuff like the supertweeters have no place in a car. that's not to say that pro audio drivers cant be used but crescendo's are garbage.
  12. http://www.mini-box.com/M2-ATX-160w-Intelligent-Automotive-DC-DC-Power-Supply found it.
  13. the psu i linked a ways back has a ignition sensing circuit.
  14. The Win8 tablets are pretty fast and a mitx should have as much or more power so I would expect <10 s boot times from a cheap ssd. My friend was doing some crypto mining with a sempron single core and the boot times into Win8 with a ssd were like 10sec or less.
  15. I thought about that, but didn't know how effective it would be. Second Skin MLV be good? Just cut it into workable strips and place over any metal? Never worked with the stuff... Also, if I built little boxes to surround my rear 6x9's, do you guys think I would get a little more "punchiness" out of them? Secure the boxes to the underside of the deck using liquid nails or something? I'm looking to get more punchiness from my mids... I thought about the foam rings for the door panels, but I have to come up with something for the rear... THanks for the tip on the MLV... I will go ahead and place an order for some today. I put some closed cell foam on the perimeter of my headliner and it made a world of difference. I can't imagine what MLV will do... may even help the 6x9's play a little cleaner, since hardly an vibrations... it would be best if you read sounddeadenershowdown.com concerning mlv. MLV acts as a barrier, cld tiles dampen resonant, ccf decouples. i would suggest removing the mids, selling them, and improving the front stage.
  16. i would (in addition to sealing all the holes) lay MLV across the top of the rear deck and down the sides.
  17. same, minus the pac. ill probably use the "hold" setting in the joycon for some extra functionality.
  18. i'll be installing mine this week. unless i fucked up and bought the wrong model. not planning to add more buttons though. not sure where this guy got the button pcb
  19. i thought about getting a wifi thumb drive which i would leave plugged into my car. so i could add/remove music from my house. could do the same with a wifi hdd i guess.
  20. i see two different boards for the 9.7" in the pictures.
