good amp for RL-i10
I have a Memphis MCD500 and it puts out 500@2ohms. It's a great little amp, I think its only around 7''x10'' or so. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay. I've had mine for over 3 years and it has worked great.

help with port dimesions
Reaudio.com has a nice box building calculator to figure out slot ported length. But I noticed you are trying to fit it in a s10 so round port might be a better choice. I'm going through the same problem as you but with a regular cab ranger and I've been using this link to see what I can fit in there. http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31

sealed options
Ok thanks for all the help everyone. I've never heard Fi, SSA, Soundsplinter or SI in person. I've only heard mainstream companies such as Alpine, Kicker, Rockford, Infinity, JL, RE, JBL and such. I've been all over this forum trying to find reviews on which sealed option would be best for me but it seems like everyone is using a ported setup. I will admit I am ignorant to the above companies with the only experience I have with them is reading on here and watching the videos. I know I sound like I know absolutely nothing about car audio or what I want for that matter but this is because I've wasted alot of money over the past 5 years trying to achieve good sound quality with the output I desire in a standard cab truck. And being in debt as it is with all these loans for school I can't afford a new vehicle at this time. So this time I want to do it right and be proud of the sound in my truck.

I am obviously concerned with mounting depth being that it is going in a standard cab truck. Will the sound/output be affected if the magnet is too close to the back wall of the box?
-
sealed options
That is exactly what I am looking for. The Infinitys sound pretty decent to me but I'm looking for something that plays lower/more accurate/smoother and has the ability to get louder as well.

That is good to hear. I like the ICONS .5'' shallower mounting depth over the q anyways. That .5'' makes alot of difference when putting a sub in a regular cab. So does the ICON get your vote too or is their another one out there that I am missing?

Does anyone else have any preferences or opinions? I can't make my decision off just one persons input. I know there are alot of sealed users out there, let me know how you like your sealed 12''.

sealed options
well for me and this is just my opinion and how i would approach it..first i wouldnt go with si anything..i just dont like care for the owner, next nothing against fi q's but everyone and there mom has a q..so i would try to be different..next i think rl-p is more sq then output and i know i will get rl-p fans here saying wtf..but when it comes down to ssa icon and rl-p in there right enclosures and power i believe the icon will be louder and still sound good and from all the reviews the ssa icon has great sq and gets really loud..so thats my choice ssa icon.. ssa icon-1 rl-p-2 fi q-3 si mag-4 I just read a review by mrray13 and he said the icon doesn't get loud sealed. Would the q get louder, because I don't really care if everybody has a q. I personally don't know anyone who has them and I just want to be satisfied with what I have because the Perfects aren't cutting it.

Ok now I just need to find someone to buy my Infinity's. I'll take some pictures next time I come home for a weekend from school (which might not be for a few weeks) and post them for sale on here. Thanks for the help. I didn't expect someone to respond so quickly but you were a lot of help.

sealed options
I have two 12'' Infinity Kappa Perfects in my ranger right now and I think the box might be a little too small for the both of them. This is why I'm thinking of just replacing the two with one 12. Plus this will free up some space to mount the bigger amp. Right now I only have a Memphis mcd-500 but it still pushes the Kappa Perfects decently. How do you think the one 12'' ICON and Sundown amp will compare to the two Perfects and Memphis amp? I know its hard to tell without hearing my setup now but lets just say that I know there is a way to get cleaner/louder bass behind those seats and I started this thread to find out what setup can achieve my goals.

Thanks for the opinion denalilvr. I like what I have read on the ICON and with the steal of a deal on the SAE100d/ICON package it's going to be tough not to choose an ICON.

sealed options
I have decided to stay away from trying to fit a ported box in a regular cab ranger and just stick to sealed. I wanted to hear everyone's opinion on which has the ability to have the most output in their optimum sealed enclosure with the recommended power. Sub will be 1 12'', here are the options: SSA ICON FI Q SS RL-P SI MAG(new model) Or if there are any other options out there please let me know. I appreciate the help.

Did you have trouble with port noise?

Here is a link to a picture of a very similar box as mine. Mine has the same dimensions. Is this box deep enough to fit the 12q sealed? If it isnt I would like to try and squeeze the bl10 and a port in there. I know someone out there has some opinions/suggestions. http://www.woodlawncabinetry.com/JL_Custom_Boxes_Page2.html

standard cab ranger
I forgot to mention that 1.5ft^3 is the max internal value. The shape of my box is odd because it has to go under the 5x7's on the back wall. If you go to www.woodlawncabinetry.com you can find a picture of a custom ranger sub box housing 3-10's. This box is identical to mine, except mine is 2-12's. I do not know how to calculate port length correctly. I've used an online calculator and got a port length of 24.6'' in a 1.2ft^3 enclosure tuned to 32hz using a 4'' round port. Or using a 3'' round port the length would be 13.3'' in the same enclosure with the same tuning. Is this possible or am I doing something wrong here?

standard cab ranger
I think the q12 would be a good choice but it is a little deep. Does anybody know if it will fit in a box that is 13'' tall with a 5inch top depth and a 9inch bottom depth?

Ok thanks for the help everyone. I will let you all know when I make a decision. Probably wont be for a little while because I don't come home from school for a little over a month.

So if I was to go with a sealed 12 what would you suggest or how about a ported rli-8?
-
standard cab ranger
The only 8's I have used in this truck were JL w3's sealed and I didn't like it at all. But I would try a 8 ported if you think it would be able to play low and get pretty loud. I'm not planning on competing or anything I just want a loud daily driver. And the kappa perfects aren't cutting it for me.

What if I were to use an aeroport? Do I still not have enough room?

standard cab ranger
So I guess my options are either a ported 10inch bl or a sealed 12inch fi q or even a sealed 12inch icon. it will be temporarily powered with 500 watts but sometime within the next few months it will be powered by a sundown 1500d. I'm not too concerned with sq. The kappa perfects sound very good but I am looking for something that has the ability to play louder. Does anyone have any opinions/suggestions?

Well right now I only have a memphis mcd500 so the two 12's are only getting around 250 per sub. I borrowed a friends cadence daytona 1000 and put that in my truck for a while but I still wasn't too impressed with the kappa perfects in about .75ft^3 per sub with polyfill. This is why I want to go with a single ported setup running off of the memphis amp until I can get a more powerful amp. The problem is I'm away at school now and won't be able to make good money until I come home for the summer. But I can buy the sub soon and wait until summer to make the box/buy the new amp.
