It's dependent on a lot of factors, you'll never know till you test. -
That's not how it works hawk. If you are smelling burning coils your pushing the thermal power handling of the woofer, your enclosure is pushing larger than recommended airspace, that can cause some problems.

You won't fiberglass mids in your doors but you'll fiberglass the face or a wall along with the entire headliner and dash of your truck?

In a Wrangler port and woofer down yielded the best results for me.

Ask port length so we can make sure the enclosure is tuned correctly. As for your question, you can pound it(reasonably) without harm, no need for a break in.

Welcome to SSA! Before you look at buying a new driver, look at building an enclosure to optimize your current subwoofer.

Tuning looks correct on that enclosure, port area is slightly less than optimal but still good.
