Putting fiberglass on a flat surface only makes it brittle, the only reason some people glass the inside is for lowering the air resistance, mostly in the port though.

1.5" is fine, glassing the box doesn't add much structural support FYI, bracing will be your best friend.

1. Break in period's mean nothing, you can play a new subwoofer just as loud as a broken in one. 2. The HU and basscube are probably the problem, I have a feeling he doesn't have flat settings on the HU and "Loud" is probably on as well.

I would get two FI Q's (dual 1 ohms) and a Sundown SAZ-2000d(period) while they are one sale, better quality and way more power than the hifonics. If you want the FI SSD's then get a Sundown SAZ-1500D. just my .02 He is not a Q buyer, please don't recommend it.
