  1. is that a trunk or hatch? idk i haven't been in the market for an amp for some time -Drew
  2. get the bxi2008 it will be worth it trust me i ran my lvl 4 18 on the bxi1608 and bxi2008 and its worth the extra few bucks 8cuft @32hz what type of car? -Drew
  3. what size woofer? -Drew
  4. Dustin Knows wassup DC F T M F W btw to the OP i gave my lvl4 almost 3,000wrms before having mechanical issues -Drew
  5. no you dont need the lvl 5 coil and no it was not designed to compete with the btl but yes i would go with the lvl 4 -Drew
  6. lvl 3 ftw -Drew
  7. Two 2500s and two XLs -Drew
  8. Gain Knob the only way to know for sure or not if your clipping is an Oscope (like the one i have, shown in the vid) you can use an online calculator to make the output voltage of your amp "match" the input voltage but that does not mean that you wont ever clip. Its also common to set your gains with a -10db overlap to allow minimal clipping. Your sine wave is much more powerful than music so if set at 0db sine wave it will sound VERY disappointing on music (but with NO clipping!) so to compensate for switching from a sine wave to music, you need a calculated gain boost (-10db for woofs, 0db or -5db for mids and 0db for tweets) sorry for rambling- just make sure your set up right -Drew
  9. efficiency with that power you should have no cooling issues unless you are giving it a heavy clipped signal. i actually lost 1.5db going from my lvl 4 (2spiders) to my XL (4 spiders) because of efficiency. The lvl 5 out performs the XL with much more power but the XL will out perform the 5 if your shy of 3k IMO -Drew
  10. what clipping looks like i can hear it in a sine wave but clipping in music is a bit harder to pick out. -Drew
  11. with that amp get a D1 DC lvl 4 XL it will pair nicely with three spiders and 8cuft if your concerned with handling- we had an mmats 4000.1 on each XL @1ohm with no issues and sounded great. -Drew
  12. Interesting i would like to see you build a box with an equivalent size slot vent and same air space, to compare output -Drew
  13. Looks good man! gotta love those XLs -Drew
  14. I've always used straight pipe and it is NOT better than flared- but if your going to be just driving around beating it will do fine. two things i use- 1) small router roundover bit to smooth the inner edge on both sides 2) or old school get a file and just work it around the inside till the edge is gone. -Drew
  15. so was i right nick? -Drew
  16. yeah i'm no woofer designer (yet) but when the pole vent is plugged at the top i think it forces are into the gap and across the coil instead of right out the bottom. Just some brainstorming -Drew
  17. i'm pretty sure it is a cooling option. it plugs the pole vent and changes the way the air flows. looks like it came lose and pushed its way up, breaking the dust cap Nick/Scott correct me if i'm wrong -Drew
  18. The lvl 4 has optional lvl 5 coil and two layer suspension along with the lvl 4 motor. the lvl 4 XL has a 3 layer suspension and lvl 5 coils standard with a larger motor than the XL but shy of lvl motor (just small enough to fit a 10" basket) the lvl 5 has four layer suspension lvl 5 coil and a motor too large for the 10" basket (unless specially built of course) as far as power handling you can get a lvl 4 to about 2700w clean before you have mechanical issues and we're giving XLs about 3200w all day and 4000w for bass race. I have not designed or beat on a lvl 5 yet hope this clears it up a bit. -Drew
  19. good stuff!! when did you order those 5? Thought they would have the new woven leads Congrats on the awesome setup!!! -Drew
  20. Thank you sir! lots of hard work paid off now we gotta gut the interior and deaden -Drew
  21. UPDATE 150.9 Bass Race and 152.2 Max SPL on Jeezy Sacramento Autorama 1st place 150.0.159.9 -Drew
  22. Send "RustyWCA" a message. The price may vary depending on where you live due to shipping but it cost me $350. Reading > Joo -Drew
  23. Screw holes are plugged in that oak box. I think it sounds great on all kinds of music- nice and punchy for the kick in rock music and low and fat when playing rap -Drew
  24. I need more power Yesssir you do We have an mmats 4000.1 on each woofer at 1ohm+rise -Drew
  25. I picked up two XLs today!! the XL 10 is the only woofer i've seen do 2,000w in a Tline -Drew
