okay how can I find the RMS of my amp and speakers? I have a soundstream rubicon 404 powering mb quart rsb 218 components. The amp manual says it's 50WX4 at 4 ohms but doesn't specify if it's RMS or peak. Then the speakers say power handling is 60 - 130W but again doesn't specify RMS.

Thanks for the link but it doesn't make any sense for that thread to be in the non-audio/offtopic section. I looked in the how-to's, which is where that thread should be.

FI car audio praises and complaints

Wow thanks for such a great post. I'm still undecided about which product to buy since I've been reading great things about other products too like the new Mag and the Icon, but this post will definitively help in my decision toward picking Fi.

pls someone with help on gains and fine tuning a system...- Advice on 12" sub under $300
Thanks again M5. Any one of those you think would be a good match for my setup which you can find in my other post?- Fine tune my system
Thank M5. BTW that's my favorite car of all time! How about settings gains...any advice or tips?- Fine tune my system
Why do the instructions suggest the HPF to 100 and LPF to 60. What happens to 60-100? It talks about something called mid-bass boom in this section too.- Advice on 12" sub under $300
I want to purchase a 12" sub to be powered by a Soundstream Rubicon 702. Since I have limited trunk space I would rather a sealed enclosure. I use to own a 15" Kicker Solobaric (round version from the late 90's) that was being powered by this same amp and I loved it but it took up my entire trunk. The box was huge. So big I had to aim the sub upwards since it didn't fit facing front or back. So far I've liked the reviews for the Fi Q12 but I'm still very open to suggestions. I was also looking at the kicker cvx12 since I think it would be very similar to my old 15" which I really liked the bass that it produced. I'm just worried I might be disappointed having it in a smaller enclosure. I'm not into competitions I just love music; trance, breakbeats, hip-hop, salsa, etc... I guess I'm more into SQ but I do want to feel the bass not just hear it.- Fine tune my system
I need some advice on how to tune my system. I've got the following...yes they are a bit old but in great condition. Alpine CDA-7844 SoundsStream Rubicon 404 and 702 amps MB Quart 6.5" components with MusiComp crossover MB Quart 2 ways with regular crossover for rear. The 404 is driving the mids/highs and the 702 is hooked up and ready for when I buy a sub. My question is how do I got about figuring out what to set the gains at? Also do I need to set the 404 to high pass and 702 to lowpass? If so, what frequency should I set them each at? The HU has a setting for the "bass control center frequency". I can choose 60, 70, 80 100hz. Default is 100. Not sure if I should adjust this. Currently I have the 404 on what's called OUT, which means it's not on high pass or low pass but sending the full range to the crossovers which then feed the mids and tweeters. It sounds good but when I put the volume up the bass sounds rough. Not sure if it's distortion or rattling or something else. I've read on here that buying a test tones CD or the IASCA CD might come in handy.- FI car audio praises and complaints
I'm sure FI makes a great sounding sub from everything I've read, but I'm more worried about the sub making it for the long haul. I've read many posts about broken tinsels and reconing. Why are there so many of these occurrences? As for bigjohn's used 15's....I only have room for one 12". But thanks anyways.- FI car audio praises and complaints
Before buying from a small new company, I want to people to chime in with their experiences with them. From buying to warranty claims to technical issues you might have had with them. Please give details of the good, bad and ugly.- FI Q12 in DC area
I'm interested in buying one but would like to hear it before I cough up the money. Anyone in Northern VA or DC with a Q12 or something similar. - Fine tune my system
