Really? I thought it was maybe some kind of heat damage. This thing has spent most of its life in a glovebox in south Louisiana. About 2 years ago I got a gray blob on the screen and assumed it was dead pixels. In our haunt all the sounds come from ipods that people gave use because they did not work. So we learned how to repair them. Step 1 is make sure the headphone jack is clean of lint and debris using the method above. Many times that is all that is wrong with them. Sometimes they need screens replaced and even the internals go bad from time to time, but they are cheap and easy to fix if you take your time.

Sounds pretty bad. Nothing got on my neck or head (neck protector, helmet), just on top of my chest protector, and wrist. I have to say it was one of those "okay here I go" and time seems to freeze. Power it down and use a lint free swab with a little acetone in it and clean the headphone hole. Clean it good and let sit for about a day. Typically they get lint and such on there and cause your issue.

Trip was business related, but the natural beauty was unreal. Once the kids are out on their own my next area to explore is the south pacific region.
