it's gonna be somewhat tough to find a quality amp that will do 1500 rms @ 2.66 ohm's for under 500. I guess the pg tantrum would be another option though since that one does around 1400 @ 4 ohms and its regulated. 1kw is actually a decent amount of power for them imo. It wont strain his electrical system as much and it should still get pretty loud. I'll try and talk him outta jl though. I'm not a fan of it either. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The memphis 16-mcd1500 is rated at 1500@2ohm with 13.8v, at 14.4v I would bet it is close. Orion 2500D will put out that power, finding one for the price is another story. This might out out [email protected] http://www.thezeb.com/p-Power-Acoustik-A24...fier-103248.htm 1200@1-4ohm http://www.thezeb.com/p-Phoenix-Gold-Xenon...00.1-108754.htm

The JL only puts out 1k@ 1-4ohm correct? And the subs are 500rms=1500rms so 500rms under running sealed....for $500 he could look into something that does 1.5k instead of getting the JL. JL is good stuff but overpriced IMO, I have had them.
