  1. I have a single rl-p 18 in 5 cubes tuned to 27hz, with 64sq in. of port. im running it with a aq2200d at 4 ohms. my question is that when i play songs with notes around 28 hz, its not really that audible, and doesnt move much air at all. Its probably just because its in a trunk. but I thought it would be alot louder on those low notes, considering its tuned to 27hz. My ssf is set around 30, i think that could be it, but i want to ask before i mess something up. thanks!
  2. well i dont want to try active because i dont think i am capable of doing it right. lol. And i do care how it sounds, but i think if i got a set that are "close" to the same as mine, i wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Do you know any that are comparable to mine?
  3. well i got a little happy with my volume knob today, and blew my driver side tweeter. i admit it was my fault. but anyway, i cant find any tweets for sale, so i was wondering if i could buy a different set for the mids. They are polk momo 6.5's. any cheap tweeters you could suggest? thanks!
  4. i finally hooked up my system today, but i need to set up my aq2200d properly. i know how to set the gain with a dmm, but i couldn't turn the gain up high enough to reach the voltage i got.(54.41) Also what should i set the ssf/lpf to. The dial for lpf is only 20-200 or something like that, nothing in between, so were should i set it approxiamately? same with the ssf. My substage consists of a ss Rl-p 18 in 5 cubic foot box tuned to 27 hz. thanks!
  5. thanks everyone for the help! i used the tutorial and set my gains properly. my amp does not have a hpf so i just set my hu's hpf to 80hz. i still havent installed my sub and amp yet so ill adjust it when i get there.
  6. that could be it. its hard to though, the solder melts so quick!
  7. that looks good. whats it called?
  8. I tried crimping it with vicr grips, but it wasnt that tight. i could pull it out. is there any other tool that will crimp it better?
  9. so i cant like melt the wire to the terminal, or something like that? lol i should have asked before i spent twenty bucks!
  10. well i got a weller 140 watt soldering gun, and some rosin core solder. I tried to solder my 1/0 to a ring terminal for one of my grounds, but the solder just balls up and doesnt stick to the ring terminal. i dont think im doing it right. lol. any suggestions?
  11. Any suggestions before i go to sleep?
  12. I need some advice on my amp and hu settings. I have polk momo 6.5's running off of a zx200.4, bridged to 100.2. I have to turn my hu up to around 58 out of 62 for them to be decently loud, but i want them to be louder at a lower volume so i dont clip. I have the gains all the way off. when i go to set the amp up with my dmm, should i just put the volume at 45 out of 62 because the gain setting tutorial says put the volume about 3/4 the way up? Also, there are two gain settings on my amp. would i set each one up independently? And my final question is when i set up my amp, should i set the hu settings such as the high pass filter before i tune it? thanks for the help!!!
  13. well the 6in ports are way to expensive so i thinks ill just go for a slot port. Anyways, thanks for the help!
  14. someone help me out please!! i want to build the box now, but i want to make sure i order the right ports.
  15. I was also wondering if the measurement the calculator gave me is the length for both of the ports, or is each one supposed to be that length? can someone also help me out with the my other post above this one. PLEASE!
  16. so ill just get two 4in ports from parts express, and cut them to length. Is that the right amount of port area? also, its going in a trunk, so were should I put the ports? I was thinking sub/ports back, ports driver side one on top of the other. does that sound ok? thanks.
  17. how would you use a dmm to find a ground that has 0 ohms resistance?
  18. can i ground my amp to another ground in the trunk? ill have a picture in a moment when i figure out how.
  19. thanks guys. i finally got it through. the lube and coat hanger worked after about an hour. haha. now i have to do the other side!!!
  20. those are good ideas! thanks guys!
  21. believe it or not, i tried that and still couldnt get it through. the boot is full of wires. its rediculous. well i guess ill give it another go later. thanks for the help.
