What if both are in well built and well aligned enclosures? The dcons 12s wouldn't be in the largest size enclosure recommended to them and the 187 10s would be. Either enclosure would be built by one of the enclosure designers on the forum. What I want to know is do the 187s have an output advantage over the dcons in general? I know the dcons have stellar sound quality in general. i assume the 187s would have a little more output if they were more towards the max recommended enclosure size than the dcons. however in a smaller higher tuned box the dcons could potentially take a bit more power. i think you got a valid question but honestly the only way i can see it being answered is by trying both and letting the meter tell you. even in the ideal enclosure they may interact slightly differently with your vehicle.
