Thank You SSA
it's a 1995 accord cpe. and yes denim, in the last couple days i realized that i have just scratched the surface..... i mean i am confident i chose good equipment, it's just that i see the lack in serious voltage (alternator & extra batteries) , theres so much noise too ( sound deadening will be a bank and back breaking endeavor ) as well as balancing my front stage ( i need a new head unit, need to repair my zed designed two channel amp and have components professionally instaled in my doors as i am inadequately equipped and too time restricted to install components properly ) . I also need to weigh the value of doing this as my car has 175000 miles on it overall im happy with the grunt i get from my daily music

Back pack speakers
Hey deepsubboy, where do you put your books in that pack? Granted I havent been in a junior high or highschool in a long time but I'm pretty sure kids still need to carry books, paper and school supplies.... I'm also partially surprised you haven't burst into flames walking around with all that messy wire on your back All the finger wagging and flaming aside, a backpack full of speakers pales in comparison to the trouble I was causing at that age, and I'm sure many of you older folk can relate unless you've forgotten what it was like to be a rebellious teenager. It doesn't bother me too much, where I grew up the 14 yr old kids are now conducting armed takeover robberies on upscale restaurants and their patrons, and the city has enlisted volunteer militias to try and stop them because of inadeqate law enforcement. You gotta remember it's all relative, better this kid is polluting your ears with a silly speaker project than holding you up at gunpoint.... Speaking of offensive noise pollution, do you guys know what "whistle tips" are? On another note, I've seen a guy on a sportsbike around my college with a speaker backpack. Its got a hard shell and it gets pretty loud, I think it's prefab too. Anyone know what it is? ps. mild grammatical corrections were made to this post as a respectful gesture to m5

ok, so the shop that built my box worked out great. they built me a 4 cu ft after port enclosure @ 34.48hz w/ 28 sq in of port. it fits perfectly in my trunk. they also tenatively built a rack concealing the wiring and set the gains for my amp. it was well worth the $. it's not too pretty but it makes my roof look like a piece of paper and the car is rattling to chit. i need to find the charger for my canon sd and ill take pics. again thanks ssa cuz i think i nailed it for the money spent. (oh and i added a red top optima cuz the sundown ate my battery and costco had giant piles of optimas for 65 bucks a piece haha)

RE Audio

The best amps for the money!
manufacturer authorized refurbs, got my old heatsink sundown 1500 for $360 from db-r, thats a deal

Thank You SSA
Well, heres the answer, theres no short way to say it the 1500 is going to power a re sx 15 in a 4ftcu @ 31-34hz, i've got a zed designed (confirmed by stephen @ zed) us accoustic usc2100 for my front stage (MA audio hk50c component), stephen @ zed is going to repair it when i ship it to him, in the meantine chris @ db-r has an old school 300 watt jensen 2ch he says works good (which i believe because i got the saz-1500d refurb from him for half of retail and it kills), the jensen is rated @ around 80w rms which is fine for me (im going to yank the 6x9's and only run front comps cuz its a coupe with fold down seats who cares bout the rear stage i sit in the back seat anyways). i went with the kicker 1/0 because it came with all the distribution and an excess of 1/0 (20ft power) as well as two 5ft 4 ga runs. im going to install all the wire and speakers, im having a reputable local shop build my enclosure for the RE SX15d2. i have an old pioneer premier headunit (5 yr old w/ two 4volt preamps f/r). this is going to be one hell of a ghetto blaster for around $1k in total. heres my list. saz 1500 refurb $360 repaired us accoustics usc2100 $? jensen 2ch 300w $25 ma audio HK50C $60 RE Audio SX15d2 $260 Kicker PDK1 1/0 wire & distribution $140 custom enclosure approx $250 head unit (5 yr old pioneer premiere tank) im going to adress voltage problems as they arise (deep cycle/ho battery, additional batteries, big 3, ho alternator) because i am on a budget and ive not had severe voltage problems yet. i chose a local shop for the enclosure because when i spoke to the guy working there, he didn't want to talk about specific design without the t/s for my woofer and the specific location and size of my enclosure, this, along with their portfolio was reassuring to me (Car Stereo Guys in santa barbara). i chose the re sx because i copped out and didn't want to fork the extra $50-150 over for a BL or wait for icons to become available (i know ill catch some flack for that but the SX was a good deal). my overall goal for the system is high output with min $ while retaining SOME sound integrity. i listen to mostly bay rap. im going to build a board for the box and amps to mount on when i run the new wire, i guess pictures are in order. this is my first system, in my favorite car which ive had stock speakers and two jl 12w0's on the US accoustics amp for 6+ years. im pretty stoked to be doing my own system as i have done much home theater work but little vehicular work. i pretty much based all my decisions on information read in this forum over the last few weeks. so again thank you guys, im pretty confident i made the right choice for on a complete system for under $1k!!

Thank You SSA
based on a few stupid questions i asked, and countless hours of reading other people's stupid questions and the patient and knowledgable responses from regulars here i have been able to piece up a good budget system that i feel really represented exacly my goal when deciding what equipment to buy. just wanted to say thanks for all the free advice and patience. (i never would have ended up with a sundown saz-1500 if it weren't for ssa)

saz1500d and which woofers?
went with the sx15d2, also ordered my 1/0, and components. got really good deals on everything with manufacturer warranties. going to have a reputable shop i found my in area do a custom 4cu ported for me (said they'd design and build the enclosure for my specific woofer and vehicle airspace, they also deal in RE audio). my sundown will soon have some friends to play with (and some current)!

College football
pac-10 and SEC are most underrated conferences. go bears! writers polls are so biased. it's like trying to get west coast team coverage on espn. all i hear is bla bla yankees bla bla red sox bla bla patriots bla bla jeter sucks a-rod bla bla on sportscenter. it's the same with college football and the big 10.

Volume control and switching outdoor speakers
it is as easy as that. there should be a button on the receiver and or remote labeled "a/b" that allows u to independantly turn on/off a, b, or a & b channels. nice receiver btw

i think i wanna buy a hand gun
helo: i'm not up on usp production, even if they replaced it thats not to say someone couldnt easily buy one or have one serviced or for that matter that its not a great firearm. you make an excellent rebuttal to my advice, however its not very objective advice.... u know guns, jon doesnt. my first gun was a daisy red rider, then a ruger 10/22 etc. i havent taken the jump into auto handguns cuz i dont find it practical. and if you really want good protection for the home theres no argument that theres any gun better than a simple pump 12 ga for your house. the sound of that slide will deter almost anyone and it doesnt take a lick of aim to hit what you're shooting at. as far as carrying a handgun with you i dunno, california doesn't really let that fly! in respect to my choice of handgun i guess it's just a personal preference thing. chances are if you're going to have to shoot someone with a handgun, you're going to be pretty up close and personal, it probably wouldn't matter what gun ur using anyways......

i think i wanna buy a hand gun
if you know nothing about guns: why do u want a handgun? is it for home defense? if so get a shotgun (preferably a remington 870). as a gun owner/enthusiast take my advice: i'd say carrying a handgun will do you more harm than help. as an inexperienced gun useryou're more likely to get shot with one than to protect yourself. it's better to give up the keys/wallet/chain/gold teeth whatever.....you don't want to be in a gun battle....ever IF you did want a handgun, not saying you should get one.... one of the better lines of weapons out there is the H&K USP. i prefer the fullsize .45acp but they have a compact line for concealment too. (ive fired both and as a big dude my hand likes a little more weight and grip). nice safety features on that gun like an ambidextrous decocking mechanism, u can chamber a round, uncock the weapon and recock it easily without having to eject any ammunition which allows u to be ready to fire at a moments notice safely (no accidental shooting). however, i would say for a first gun get a revolver, much easier weapon to use and maintain. ive got a stainless ruger gp141 (.357 magnum). nice gun, its a got a single piece receiver which makes it real sturdy (it weighs 40oz unloaded) and an excellent club. it'll never missfire or jam and they're so easy to use a 7 year old somalian could figure it out without instructions....

ur talking two ENTIRELY different technologies. the sony is LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon). it looks like an lcd because it is using 3 LCD's stacked on a silicon chip and reflects light off the LCD's onto the screen. the response is slightly faster than your standard lcd, but not as fast as dlp or plasma. also 72" is enormous you can't compare that to a 50-60" tv as it is so much larger. im sitting infront of my 57-731 (about 14') mitsu watching olympic ping pong and badminton(shuttle goes 200mph) without any blur, again aside from the older pioneer elite's and new kuro's i've yet to see a consumer tv do better blacks than this dlp. consider the operating cost of a plasma too... they deteriorate from the day u plug it in, are not cost effective to recharge and draw more power than an equal sized micro-display. every time you replace your dlp bulb you get a brand new tv essentially. im quite confident my dlp's picture capability exceeds that of any hd broadcast available, as well as any available blu-ray or hd-dvd content. what i'm trying to say is you're comparing apples and oranges, if it was a 56" dlp you were looking at that's another thing. clean power source, interconnects and video source quality will make up 50% of your picture quality too.

if you only watch 1080i video and 1080p or 720p film, the 61" would be awesome. however as soon as you dip into dvd's or (480p) or standard broadcast tv you will want your EYES to be at least fifteen feet from that thing. however i would pick the 56 over the 50 in a 12 foot room, as it doesnt seem like 6 inches is much but you get something like fifteen percent more screen area with the 56 over the 50 (thats noticable!).

nice, i think you'll be really happy. my only gripe with my samsungs has been that the piano black case looks tacky and reflects a lot more light than you would expect. as far as picture quality all dlp's with equal features should perform the same. (texas instruments makes all the dlp engines so they really dont differ much from brand to brand). but as far as HDTV's go, if my only complaint is the aesthetic appearance.... then theyre pretty good :0, and all the dlp's ive seen scale framerates really well so using a ps3 for a blu-ray works just fine.

dlp is by far the best choice when considering picture quality to size to cost. the only tv i would say is comparable to what you are looking at is the pioneer kuro... but the price doesn't justify it. after 3 lcd's, two plasmas, two lcd rear projections, and an lcos tv, i would have to say i like my mitsu 57731 6 color dlp the best. im sure the samsung will be perfect, just make sure you sit approximately 3 times the diagonal measurement of 4:3 content away from the tv, or it will look blurry on standard def (if you only watch high def or game the distance should be irrelevant). in respect to the claims that 120hz is better than 60.... film is native 24fps and video is 30 so if you're tv does a proper 3:2 pulldown (like mine) you should be just fine. until film or video fps breaks 60 it's all a gimmick imo. (well, that is unless your tv could do a 5:5 pulldown for film, however i have not seen a 120hz lcd that DOES do a 5:5 pulldown... all 6:4 which looks strikingly similar to a 3:2)

polk monitor series....floorstanders and centre....any good?
theres a budget for cable....... im only 16..and ive saved and bought all my audio equipment thus far...will continue to do so. im not knockin your effort, you're going to have to be realistic with your budget, i would reccomend piecing your system bit by bit, it will help you choose each item with more scrutiny and you wont end up with useless equipment if you choose each piece individually. you may not end up with the "audiophile experience" but if it sounds good to you that's what matters. if you're looking for a cheap receiver, let me get ya started with a suggestion: http://www.ecost.com/detail.aspx?edp=34561...ci_sku=34561623 the avr-687 doesn't have hdmi switching or a lot of power but it's $130, it has two opticals and a coax or two, it can also decode dts and dolby digital, and should be able to power any front/center/surround setup in your pricerange. hope that's more helpful than my snyde comments keep lookin theres always good deals out there

monitor audio rs6's are the best bang for the buck out there. i got a pair for my pops and he loves em, i also use their silver reference bookshelf (rs1) for my surrounds, they actually sound better than my front stage too :\ (klipsch rvx54's & rc25). but don't listen to me, just read any home audio reviews on the speakers, heres a start: http://www.hometheatermag.com/floorloudspe...itor/index.html got my pair for around 600.
