  1. How much room is between the wall and the end of where the port would be?
  2. Sounds about right.
  3. The port should have 12-16 square inches of port area per cubic foot. So for you 19.92 - 26.56 square inches. This is to cut down on port noise. I would try to go with the larger of the two sizes, but as you will see the larger port area will also require a longer port for proper tuning. What are you thinking about tuning at? And SSD's are awesome, nice choice.
  4. Hello all! I have been working on a video playlist on youtube where I discuss different car audio tools. Rather than make a different thread for each tool I will be using this thread to constantly update my tool reviews. Week 1: Bojo Installer Trim Removal Tools Week 2: Self Adjusting Wire Strippers
  5. Nice looking gear! Tuning in!
  6. I did things this way at first but I like my method better as once the box is complete all the different pieces are "grouped" as their own entity. So what I will do is copy everything, or even copy the whole document itself and make a "cut sheet" with the pieces. Literally lay out everything in an 8' by 4' rectangle, then I know what pieces to cut from where in the piece and save wood.
  7. In looking at that box you made for your buddy it looks like you would be required to smash your knees on the dash if sitting in the passenger seat. As far as your box I say side firing the port.I really like slot porting way better than aero or "circular".
  8. Here is a follow up video showing how to create more intricate Kerf geometry.
  9. Here you go guys let me know what you think! What is Google Sketchup? Sketchup is a free 3d modeling program that is made by Google. It is used around the world for its ease of use and accurate function. Where do I get it? Right here: http://sketchup.google.com/download/ Download the basic version. What is the advantage? You can basically "build" your box before you make a single cut! Get an idea what it will look like, even lay out all the boards to make sure you get the most use out of a sheet! How do I use it? Watch my video below! If there is any additional information or questions please let me know!
  10. I love it too! Let me through my hat in the ring here.
  11. Thanks man, posted! Whats your user name ill follow. @caraudiofab
  12. I will have to check that out!
  13. I think you will like what is coming then. I always do a lot more car audio in the winter, easier to stay in the garage working.
  14. Pics? Glad to hear it helped!
  15. Thanks man, posted!
  16. Nice build arctictwist! Would you be ok with me tweeting this thread on twitter?
  17. I'm interested in more videos. They are very informative and put together great! What do you think you would cover in future videos? I got some things in the works as far as fiberglass, template production, body filler tricks etc. If you want to see more definitely subscribe to my channel listed in my signature. Thank you for the kind words.
  18. Yes use screws, nails pull easily and with the constant vibration will work themselves loose. Like others said take the time to pre-drill with a drill bit that is smaller than the shank of the screw. Shoot I even do the countersink chamfer for all of mine. Take the time now, it will pay off later.
  19. So Skip the mdf and make a fibreglass layer bonded right to the metal, just making the roof thicker and more rigid than the crappy tin roof? Or are you saying have metal, then glue on kerfed mdf, then fibreglass the bottom (inside) of the mdf on the inside then head liner? Correct me if I am wrong but I believe you use fiberglass resin and mat to strengthen the kerfed mdf. I have not seen anyone use only fiberglass as I would think that It would be likely to also flex. (Unless very thick and very ex$$$pensive)
  20. Here is how to design in sketchup.
  21. I think you should have took the time to do 45's on the port though. Or better yet! Do some kerfing!
