My hands get all kinds of chopped up when I install deadening. But I do all of the application with my hands, I've had better results vs. using a roller. That foil backing is sharp. Ask Noah, I'm not a deadening tard... you = teh wrong (I know, you don't care) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Screwdriver handle works better than a roller too. If you get cut from that stuff you are obviously not paying attention.

Dennis, i have this wood thats almost like MDF but its dark brown and is smooth one 1 side and rouch on the other. It comes in 1/4" and seems pretty dang strong. Its also solid. Kinda like peg board ?
