That h/u is old I reciently looked up the specs on the kenwood Kdc-X979...top model compared to the eclipses, pioneers and alpines ive had of the same year, the kenwood is a pile of junk. Horrible EQ, Stupid features ( speaker size) and other things like that. Honestly, your problem is your headunit. All high end h/u's out now have pretty much infinite options as far as crossovers go. Yes, they have preset frequencies, but 6-24dB slopes can help that.
