some are duplicates just because different angles, and some are with flash, and some without, tried to be thorough. not sure what settings you want to know for the headunit? ive tried turning the headunit amp on/off and cant tell any difference in sound quality really. i normally keep the headunit amp on, so to power my rear factory speakers. although i can turn it off. i do have crossover options on the headunit, but im pretty sure they are off. and if they are not off its at default whatever they are. i have a 2013 hyundai elantra coupe, by the way. i have photos here of the amp, settings on amp, the speaker wires running into the amp, and the power wire and ground. and photos of the left mid woofer / tweeter, and right mid woofer / tweeter. the ground is like 1 foot away from the amp, attached to the trunk, is that a good spot? also i looked at the speaker wires connected to the amp. as shown in pictures, it seems the red wires are both attached to the same sign. the red are attached to the + on both left and right speaker. and the black are attached to the - on both left and right speaker. but just because its attached properly on the amp, is it possible they are attached wrong on the speaker itself? so then swapping them at the amp for just one speaker might fix it, if its wired wrong at the speaker? link to imgur site which has the gallery of the photos i took, some are duplicates there. should i repost the photos that are good here on this site? or is this link fine for you to view? thanks! and let me know please if theres anything else i need to provide! wow, not sure if its just me, but scrolling through those photos is a bit difficult, probably due to file size and loading them. maybe i should post just a few here to make it easier? http://imgur.com/a/9rSZA- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
heyyyy just took pictures of EVERYTHING... well pretty much. i can take more photos of speakers later if u need them, but i posted 2 in another thread that you saw, they were at a sort of bad angle. give me 2 min to upload the photos here. thanks again!- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
one more quick question... when swapping the + and - speaker wires at the amplifier, the car will be off. but would i need to disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery before messing with speaker wires at the amplifier? and/or would i need to do anything else, such as disconnect the fuses on the amplifier or something? just wondering if it can damage anything when swapping the speaker wires at the amplifier? thanks- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
ok thanks. got huge exam on friday in organic chem. afterwards i shall make sure to do this! thanks alot- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
all good, i read understood it. thanks one quick question, when you say +/ - at the amp, what do you mean? and whats the processor? the headunit? and then if so you mean behind the headunit? at the amp theres only RCA cables right? not sure what the + / - is?- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
yes i keep procrastinating taking photos of my amp settings, sorry... i will get to it someday lol. my bad. how do you change the phase of one speaker? i didnt do the install... which i now really do regret. but mehhh i guess i get to learn now how to alter this... do you have to unscrew the speaker and get behind it? i thought they were some sort of connector that the factory speaker was connected to and it automatically uses the proper cords? its also a component set so yea theres a separate tweeter. i also think the screw for the speaker mount is different than normal screws, so ill need to purchase a new screwdriver for it one side does definitely sound different than the other. it sounds almost as if the sound is being trapped in the door on the left and only some sound gets out, like bit less quality and lower volume. id assume the installer at the very least installed both sides with the same spacing between the speaker and door.... i do have time alignment, and i took measurements with a measuring tape but did not alter the setting on time alignment yet because im unhappy the sound quality, and i think that should be taken care of first, before altering the timing? or does maybe it doesnt matter what order i fix them in? edit: i also downloaded a free app to check the phasing on my phone for car speakers. plug in with aux cord and it sends pop noises and checks the phase. but it seems extremely inaccurate. its never consistent at all with either speaker. ive seen one on amazon for 7 bucks to check with pops but that apparently doesnt come with the CD for the pop noises. idk if theres some easy way to check phase without having to mess with wires first?- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
so is it possible one speaker is out of phase and sounds a bit lower in volume, and less clarity, compared to the other speaker? or would out of phase cause both to be equally bad?- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
ok thanks. so its basically that one is wired wrong, maybe. the left speaker sounds as if the sound is being trapped within the door panel and not all is getting into my car. while the right speaker sounds a bit more clear. not too noticeable but a bit but ive heard that out of phase will have much less bass. i do notice a slight different in bass in the left speaker but its not a whole lot? im not sure if it really is out of phase? ive tried fading the speakers left to right all one way and then all the other. with just vocals, pure voice, i played the clips from this site: http://www.richardfarrar.com/are-your-speakers-wired-correctly/ i played all clips, but the one by "Speaker Phase Test", i can clearly tell the different on my computer speakers, when the lady speaks in phase vs out of phase but on my car speakers, its a bit harder to tell, they both almost sound exactly the same, very slight difference. but the out of phase sound on my computer, sounds very similar to the way the music sounds on my left speaker in my car. my right speaker sounds much cleaner and a bit louder volume ive been wondering why my music in my car starts to make my ears hurt after listening for not long. i lowered the tweeter attenuation all the way as low as it can to -6 and it helped, but it still sounds a bit odd- Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
I am trying to understand out of phase vs in phase? Lets say you have 2 speakers, a left and a right. Can only the left speaker be out of phase, while the right speaker in in phase? Or if the speakers are out of phase, then both will be out of phase, and its not possible to have just one ?- Favorite youtube channels for car audio?
yea lol exo has a great personality for his videos with car audio. very entertaining to watch, and the types of builds he does are always awesome is this who you are referring to on youtube? "Bryan TheCEO" not sure if i found the correct channel? thanks!- Favorite youtube channels for car audio?
is that your own channel? :]- Favorite youtube channels for car audio?
Not sure if there is a thread for this already? if so please let me know, id love to see it! so far i enjoy watching some of "exoabigdeal" videos. hes done some stuff with SSA equipment also. and caraudiofabrication is another good one. and ericthecarguy showtimeSPL prefer channels that explain how things work, to learn about the equipment and that show different neat builds, some that everyday people can do, and sometimes more advanced things being done thats cool to watch for example from exoabigdeal with SSA 15 inch subs. 8 of them.... lol 8! anyone else?- Site playing games with me?
firefox windows 7 working fine for me- Site playing games with me?

ok update and some questions!... i feel quite stupid. my bad.... a bit of it...... im man enough to admit when i am wrong. and i was wrong. the rear speakers work still. they are hooked up to the headunit like i asked. they are factory. apparently the settings i thought were for the rear speakers, are not the only settings. there is a setting on my headunit that turns off its amp or output or something to the speakers in case you are using an amp. i apparently turned this on. and it caused on the external amp to work, but turned off the rear speakers, that are hooked up to the headunit. so the rear speakers are fine.... they gave me back my speaker wire once i asked.... sort of sad i had to ask, but it could have been an honest mistake. the owner of the shop is the person i dont really like. (even though i told the owner twice, when he mentioned that i told them to turn the gain up on the amp because the volume was low, i told him a third time, that we never had that talk. i never told him to turn the gain up or the volume was too low. he told me this again when i saw him in person, and immediately i told him that was not true. it was slightly awkward, but i said it firmly once again. i was not looking to argue over something so petty, and luckily he just stopped after i said that it didnt happen. i feel like he was trying to make it be my fault for whatever was happening. although the gains seem to be set properly anyway....) the guy who worked on my car seemed knowledgeable and very helpful, he was a nice dude. ok and now for the hissing.... ugh. the mechanic explained that the hissing occurs in his system as well, and many others that he has seen, when using the aux input. which is all i use for my car. the cd player and bluetooth both have absolutely zero hissing at max volume on headunit but the aux input has hissing at volume 1. and the hissing is very noticeable at volume 10 and up. i only hear the hissing when theres a low volume point in the music, or no music. i guess its my headunit? doubt its the gains, if the bluetooth and cd player both have no hissing. can it still be a ground issue with the headunit? or is this normal for aux inputs? also a question. the max volume on the headunit is 35. at around volume 22, i believe i start to get clipping. thats around 60% of the max volume on headunit. is this normal? would it be better to lower the gain a bit? would this possibly allow to have louder sound before it starts to clip? not just number on volume, but sound as well be louder? ( i have read up on gains and clipping, but not sure if this is possible? it seems gains dont really affect max volume before clipping? just the volume knob, but not the actual hearing volume? or can setting the gain a bit lower, allow the actual volume to be louder and better quality before it clips?) Thanks all!- Is changing passive crossover same as changing headunit EQ?
idk how to meet these people? not many people really care about their car audio, let alone know how to do it. at least of people who i know and have spoken to. a few people i know from college got their stuff dont back at their homes at local shops. and by cranking it up to make it sound good, u mean they set the gains too high on purpose? cause im going back tomorrow to ask about the hissing noise. maybe a ground issue, maybe the gains. i didnt touch anything, just so they can fix it, whatever it is, because i already paid to have this job done well. idk why, but my speakers sound great at low volume. but the mid bass doesnt really shine until the volume is raised. and when i raise the volume to get good midbass, then the tweeters are way too high and hurt to listen to. this is why im asking about the tweeters. im considering placing a cloth over the outside, on the door panel to cover the tweeters a bit, to lower their harshness... lowering the treble on the EQ on the headunit, does help with the harshness a bit, but it also seems to lower the quality of the tweeter sound. and it seems when raising volume on headunit and lowering the treble, makes the tweeters prone to heavy distortion, sounds like clipping almost. i just want to lower the volume of the tweeter, separate from the volume of the midbass speaker.- Is changing passive crossover same as changing headunit EQ?
why do u say this :[ its a store sort of close by. they had the best reviews online. compared to a few others around same distance. yeah thats a good point... idk. the dynamat kit says speaker kit. its only 1 ft by 1 ft or so. and yeah weird that they still put it by speaker. idk.- Is changing passive crossover same as changing headunit EQ?
ok lets start here.... i just took off door panels. i could not figure out the negative terminal on my battery. there were 2 nuts or bolts, or whatever, things holding the negative portion in place. and neither one seemed to work with disconnecting. so i still took off door panels. but did not disconnect anything electrical on them. just took them off a few inches. and i took a few pics of what i could. it seems like they put the 1 ft by 1 ft, dynamat sound deadener over the birch wood speaker spacer... which should help protect the speaker spacer from moisture i hope. but i could not tell if they used a gasket tape for the speakers. which i wanted to look for. but the deadener is covering that area. not sure if it was happening before i just took off panels. but the rear speakers in my car are NOT working at all now. i tried using the fader on headunit and changing other settings, and putting headunit to default, and still no rear speaker volume.... but i changed the tweeter attenuation on the passive crossover to -4b. it seemed to help a slight bit. not much. the lowest setting is -6 db. i will probably change it to that later. but the door panels came off very easy. just extremely difficult to line up properly to place them back on. any reason why the rear speakers worked before. but now they dont? they worked after the shop installed the amp , headunit, and front speakers. and the front speakers are hooked up to the amp. the rear speakers should just be hooked up to the headunit. and the rear speakers are factory. wondering if the rear speakers could have blown from something? or maybe when i opened the door panels in the front, it somehow messed with wiring for the rear speakerS? i highly doubt the front panels affected them though.... and heres the images of what i could take. sorry for horrible angle...- Is changing passive crossover same as changing headunit EQ?
true. makes sense. thanks. im looking into disconnecting the car battery now... pretty sure i should do this? even though im only taking off the panel i dont think the air bags are in the panel... but idk. i guess its better to be safe?- Is changing passive crossover same as changing headunit EQ?
even just taking off the panels to see the install? i wont be installing or removing anything? i do want to take the panel off the set the tweeter attenuation at -2 db or -4 db to see how it changes things. i actually was thinking about this before you mentioned it. yea i am scarred of people seeing it and thinking hey lets steal this shit. but i dont know if it will look too inviting if im just taking panels off for 30 min? could look like im just changing the door handle or something? - Can only one speaker be out of phase, and the other be in phase?
