Mine looks very similar except I used the phone rings on the front and the back plus the little rubber pre made boxes I call them baffles not sure the exact name but that's what sonic had them listed as. The wood pieces where listed as spacers.- JL 13w7 box for best spl how many cubic feet

I know what JL recommends but I have always heard that it's better to go a little bit bigger for more output. Just asking the experts what there take on the go bigger rumor. Right now I have them in the factory prowedge box's but only one would fit because of how tall they are so I'm gonna build a dual slop port enclosure for them both. So is it true your better off to go bigger or is that just internet b.s? I probably can't go to much bigger but maybe a little.- JL 13w7 box for best spl how many cubic feet

I need to know what the best size box would be for a JL 13w7 for spl. I have always heard most manufacturers give smaller then optimal size requirements just to sell subs and to lower power handling so they have less warranty claims. Looking for anybody who has experience with these subs who can tell me what's the best cubic feet to get the max out of these subs. I'm running them off the JL HD1200/1's in a 2013 Dodge Avenger R/T. Pretty big trunk just small opening may have to build box in place. I want to run ported for more output but still be musical. Also need to know tuning.- FS Crescendo BC3500D
Ok thanks for the update.- Can I Make This Work?
yea you can buy the same baffles which I was just calling a spacer (I'm from the south) and everything to properly mount from sonic and I'm sure a few other websites, they may have them here on ssa not sure. But I like how he built that enclosure into the door that's dedication there I wish I had time do projects like that, maybe someday. Right now kid and business keep me stressed and running.- FS Crescendo BC3500D
Man I really need this to match my other one but this rain has killed my business and my funds. If it last I might try and get it in a week or two but I doubt it will pretty popular amp right now. How old is the amp I know it can't be to old they ain't been out to long.- The Crossover Crossroads - Active or Passive
I never said it was hard I just said it was easier for me because I already have my system. So going out and buying a processor then doing away with all the crossovers in place is what wouldn't make any sense to me since it's sounding great to me already. Yes I would get more power I don't need, yes I would get more flexibility I honestly don't believe I need, but ha it might sound better. Ow and I did try cutting the rears out, just out of curiosity and it just doesn't sound near as good. Less output and it threw off my soundstage. Now maybe if I went active it would have worked but without spending anymore money right now it's more then good enough for me.- The Crossover Crossroads - Active or Passive
Go to you tube and watch tutorials and read what experienced installers are doing not just people trying to sell you 20 year old designs with a new name put on it. Heck go to the JL site they go over this stuff in detail in there how to's so does crutchfield. Some really good info in there it won me some throphy's and that and first hand experience is how I learned.- Can I Make This Work?
Starting to think these guys are just messing with everyone. Yes you can buy baffles all day long, just go to sonic electronics they will send you all you want in two days plus the spacers, gaskets, or what ever M5 wants to call them. I litterely just did the same thing last night using a baffle, second skin, foam gaskets and a spacer from sonic, sounds superb no vibration no nothing just crystal clear mid range.- Dodge dash speakers
You make no sense who said anything about a single speaker I said a component set was a mid woofer, mid range, tweeter with crossovers like every audio company in the world sells including Ssa. And I have never liked active crossovers I think the high end audio manufacturers like JL do a better job of adjusting the sound then I can. I know I put my components in the same position they said would be optimal for and it sounds great to me. Now my car is quiet and maybe in a different setup or car it might not work but in mine now it is. Sorry but I just ain't a active guy.- Can I Make This Work?
Yes you can make it work. .10 isn't hard to overcome I just did it recently myself. My JL C2 61/2's where just a little to big for the depth so I used a gasket to bring it out a little and it worked fine. As long as your just the least bit handy you can make that work.- The Crossover Crossroads - Active or Passive
Everybody on here swears by the active set but I'm just gonna run components in front and coaxial's in the back it's easier for me but that just me. It's what I have always done and it sounds fine to me. I guess it just depends on what kind of system your going for.- Dodge dash speakers
Of course install is a big part no doubt but I'm just replacing my stock locations with a system I already have. The only thing I don't have is the dash speakers but I may just unhook them and run my JL's cause I loved the sound it had in my last car. This will be 61/2's in doors with foam gaskets and second skin mat with the tweeter mounted 3/4 ways up the door and the 6x9's in the back just because I like the rear fill. And of course 2 13w7's in a custom ported box ran off HD1200/1's. Later on I want to get a better set of components cause I just bought the C2's because they where cheap and I had already spent a lot on my subs and amps. I'm not going for just sq I want it loud to probably more then I want sq but it would be nice to have both of course. And this isn't a system for competition or anything it's just for my listening pleasure. Just trying to do the best with what I already have. And I'm surprised the dash speakers sound as good as they do I figured after installing my alpine and amp they would be screening and distorted but there not. Or if they are my deaf ass can't hear it.- Dodge dash speakers

I was actually talking about j carter not you M5 you have been more then helpful and I appreciate the words of wisdom. Apparently car audio has changed greatly since I competed in the 90's and I have some catching up to do. But even back then I never liked when some one had a wall of 15's with just 2 61/2's components in the front doors. I actually lost to a guy in a hatchback that had that very setup and it was a stereo you couldn't even here the music it was just a giant wind tunnel which is ok if you don't like nothing but bass. Sorry for the confusion I didn't realize the alpine power pack could drive 2 ohm loads.- Dodge dash speakers
So basically if your not a audio world champ or a expert your gonna be talked down to and attacked here right. I can't help but feel like your guys egos are a little swelled. Yea we may not know everything about audio but not everybody is that into it or sells equipment. I myself built bridges all over the east coast and if you asked me a question I wouldn't talk down at you because it is a complex process that if you don't work in it you ain't gonna know. Just seems like you guys are a bit aggressive for someone just asking questions but whatever carry on with the 8 people who are still here.
