component speakers
ohh sorry, read the post way too fast and kinda missed that part... -the polk audios i enjoyed, thought they sounded clear and not so harsh at higher volumes. -Kickers sounded amazing at lower volumes but as the volume increased the tweeters became very noisy and harsh to the ears. -Diamond Audios i rather enjoyed, very musical and great mid-bass. -Massive audios were just plain harsh at any volume. I was just thinkin about another set...what is your opinion on the ROCKFORD T162S? Any feedback? thanks again

I've listened to high end Kickers, Polk Audios, Diamond Audios, Massive Audios, and a few others that slip my mind.

component speakers
Im not really on a budget, but not looking to spend a rediculously huge amount...so high end Focals or Hertz would be out. Loud meaning I want something that will sound musical at very high volumes. Im looking for sound quality as well as loudness. And Im also looking to find a component set with a non-harsh sounding tweeter.

component speakers
I've been trying to find a set of component speakers with good sound quality and that can get LOUD...if thats possible. I've been looking closely at two sets: -RE Audio XXX 6.5s *Power Handling: 150 Watts RMS *Impedance: 2 Ohms -Pheonix Gold RSD 65cs *Power Handling: 60 watts RMS *Impedance: 4 Ohms Ive seen many threads that promote the PG's but im just wondering if the RE's would be a better buy? The RE's are quite a bit more expensive...but also have a higher wattage. Thanks!

Got a HO alt, 1 extra battery, still dimming
more wire, better current flow. and sometimes its hard to get 2+/0, so more runs of 1/0 will do the same, so in that case...in my car its a rediculously hard to run 1/0 gauge wire through the car. I'm planning on powering a Sundown 3000. Would i need more than 1 run of 0 gauge?

Got a HO alt, 1 extra battery, still dimming
just a little aside...i was reading this thread and came across a question that wasnt answered and I'm also curious to know the answer. why is it that people run more than 1 0/1 gauge from front to back? is it necessary?

For Scott
alright guys, take it down a notch..im not a moderator or anything but this seems to be getting out of hand. All he was saying was that the mounting holes dont line up. thats it thats all...he also mentioned that the POSSIBILITY of something else could be wrong with it but he wasnt putting it down in stone. He just mentioned it...if you buy a car brand new car and the stereo doesnt want to turn on...wouldnt you wonder for 1 second that there could POSSIBLY be something else wrong? this is just an FYI thread...he was merely pointing out that fact. THATS IT THATS ALL.

Cerwin Vega Stroker Pro
hey everybody I came across a great deal on 2 Cerwin Vega Stroker Pros 15s and was wondering if they're any good? I was looking at the specs for a box and seems to be significantly smaller than the size of the BTL...anybody have any input?? thanks, Andrew

H/O alternators
alright before this turns into a flame fest between a few people. I would just like to say thank you two everybody who contributed to this thread. It did help and you did answer my question. Thanks, Andrew

H/O alternators
well while i was talking to the representative from Kinetics, he made it sound like there was a great loss in horsepower due to the alternator pulling power from the engine...

Component 6.5 speakers
i havent actually...I just found their website. Is there anywhere I can order them?

Component 6.5 speakers
if none of those will do the trick, what do you suggest? I've sat in a car with 4 DD subs pushing 6000 watts rms and the Massive Audio comps were a little low but were keeping up pretty well with it...

Component 6.5 speakers
anybody?

Component 6.5 speakers
hey everybody, I've narrowed down my search for 6.5" 2 way component speakers... ::Pheonix Gold RSD 65cs (60/120 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio SK6 (100/220 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio CK6 (130/280 watts rms/peak each) ::Massive Audio TK6 (120/270 watts rms/peak each) I'm not sure of what amp i will be powering the speakers with yet. I plan on running an Fi BTL with them so I'd like something loud enough to keep up with it. What do you think would be the best choice/why... thanks! Andrew

newbie from Michigan here
I decided to get rid of my monsoon head unit just because the sound quality out of it was alrighttt but i wanted something a little better. and considering it didnt play mp3s i wasnt interested in it. If worst comes to worst, just get some shallow mount speakers...I'm not sure of the depth myself on the speakers but theres always a way to make things fit! Nice 20th anniversary btw This is my Gti:

newbie from Michigan here
welcome to SSA! I drive an '03 Gti as well Right now im just running the stock monsoon setup but will be swapping it out over the winter. I'm thinkin of getting 4 Pheonix Gold RSD 65cs powered by an MB Quart DSC-4125. Still not 100% sure yet but that will probably be the setup...maybe a lower wattage amp as the speakers are only 60 watts rms each and the amp is 100x4 i believe...

H/O alternators
hey guys and girls, I've been looking around for a H/O alternator for my 03 VW Golf GTI. I was speaking to a representative from Kinetik's about power cells that I will be needing to power my soon to be Sundown Audio 3000 amp. The representative told me that the higher than amperage from the alternator, the more power will be drained from the engine. He was also telling me that it is a big enough drain since I drive a 4 cyl car. Soon after I spoke to a representative from Ohio Alternators and he told me that the loss of horsepower would only be be a maximum of 5 from the engine with a 200 amp alternator at full power. Anybody have any input on the situation? This is my daily driver and i want to be sure i can still drive the car "normally" on a daily basis... THanks, Andrew

powering a Sundown Audio 3000
between the D3100 and the HC2400, theres not that much of a difference that i can see except one offers more amp hours and the other offers more amps..

powering a Sundown Audio 3000
hey guys, I'm plannig on running 1 Sundown Audio 3000 to either a 1 15" OR 1 18" FI BTL. What do I need to power this bad boy?? hah. I already did the research and I can get my hands on a 250amp h/o alt. Now the bad part is that im running this in A VW Golf so the space is minimal and going to be very tight for this build. I dont plan on doing competitions, its more for a daily car. Any idea what I need? I'm definately swapping out my primary battery (stock)...anything else? Cheers, Andrew

US Amps AX3200DE vs Sundown Audio 3000
Hey everybody, I'm looking around for an amp, so far I've been told to look up the US Amps AX3200DE and the Sundown Audio 3000. Both seem the same to me...anybody have any input on this? I'm looking to run an 18" BTL fully loaded for daily use (not so much for competition). Thanks, Andrew

souds good, thanks Nick! my question is how much would it cost to ship a 18" fully loaded BTL to Canada? My postal code is K2J-0H5 (Ottawa, Ontario). And how much power can i run to it safely for the sub on daily use? P.S. - if you dont want to reply here, just e-mail me @ [email protected] Thanks again! Andrew
