If Chris Brady builds it, you can bet it probably works He knows what he's talking about...
  2. They do look very nice in person

I've heard about that wood glue technique also but never tried it, I've got an old Queen album here that could use a cleaning badly, might try it out and see if there's any merit to it...not that I'd attempt it on any record I actually care about...

That's most likely it. I've got one of those funky 120v plugs coming out of my Impala too lol You'll be able to tell by looking at the freeze plugs. Can't buy a vehicle without one of them there plug-ins here Yeah, that plug in itself says Canada. Hell, my entire van says made in Canada

For just dust, I use an Audioquest brush running across the LP as it's spinning before I put the tonearm down. Wipe across the surface of the record outward, so it draws all the dust out. But for deep cleaning (especially important if you're like me and most of your LP collection is used to begin with), you really need to buy or make friends with someone who has an LP cleaner. Sure, you can use a solution like Discwasher and a scrubber to kind of clean them, but once you hear the results of something like a Nitty Gritty or VPI cleaner, you'll never go back. I'm saving up to buy one for myself, paying my friends in beer to do the worst of mine is getting too inconvenient It's amazing how many of the "ticks and pops" people associate with records is just a result of poor cleaning habits... http://www.elusivedisc.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ANIT1

Steve, tell me it's not as bad up there, I'll move for grad school

The BIT department not accepting online transfer forms still takes the cake, though. I can apply to the school completely online, no paper required, but the IT division of the business school can only handle paper forms.

I'll never figure it out. We spend all this time talking about how the world is going flat, benefits of open-source, etc...and then one of my profs assigns us to look at an online video that won't play in Mozilla or Opera, only the latest version of IE. I don't have the latest version of IE, because I don't have Vista. So I have to download this feature-creep laden, memory-hogging thing that I don't want on my machine...

But being ground-loop free, and safely, is worth that.

Ouch, the isolation transformer I was looking at is $160 And the xfmr's by themselves are $140, well, at least the manufacturer isn't making money off it being preassembled...

I like my women like I like my Jack. 12 years old and mixed up with coke. Thought you were going to say 41 years old and been driven around the block a few times

I haven't had a single issue with the 14 year old E-150...other than the heater blower not working for the past year, then starting to work again magically this year No sensor issues...
  13. If better sound is desired, I'd go with the copper coils, myself. But since you're interested in a BL anyway, that wouldn't make much sense.

I saw Is he worst than me? You, LB, and him are vying for the top spot...a clear winner hasn't been decided yet I don't think I've ever seen pictures of anything you've installed, so you've got that going in your favor

? ...figure out which hole do not need to be* covered I have holes in my roof You mean you don't have the traditional bumper mounted whip? Too much of the van would be blocking the antenna. I have the 102" whip mounted on the side, about taillight-height up because any higher than that and I wouldn't be able to clear 13' overpasses. The VHF/UHF ones are on the roof because they're pretty small and it provides one heck of a ground plane
  17. What are those self-tapping screws going through in that picture? Maybe it's not the trim, but I can't tell what that part is...definitely looks like it's part of the Mini, though...
  18. Yes, I'm sure there's a huge market out there for Minis with painted sunroofs and holes in the trim

Wake me up when HA-F is around
  21. But what if the cellist farted on the recording? What then?
  22. Now that's truly hilarious. I guess that's why my Fostex Sigs sound like ass, send them power over 25 watts and they blow, pfft, what was I thinking
  23. Looks gimmicky to me. There are no free lunches...
