Welcome to the IHoP
I tried using an Ipod once as a source...as if I needed another reason to delete all my MP3's

My final decision
Just my observations... Lower the sub budget. $100 taken out of that will put $100 more into the front stage and head unit, where it's needed more anyway. Picking a head unit that's capable of active processing will allow you to mix and match drivers, getting a lot more value for your dollar than a pre-built component set would. A used 4-channel amp can be found on Ebay or a forum for not a lot, something like a PG M44 comes to mind... Expect to spend a little over $100 on sound deadening, and cables and wiring aren't free either.

12" BTL tech
Mounting depth is listed on the site as 6 3/4"...magnet diameter is unimportant unless you're building a motor brace of some kind and you should have the driver in hand for that anyway...

Ditch run out in the middle of the road? Pretty impressive though, cab is intact...

Welcome to the IHoP
Those would probably be high scores for me if I took those tests

Welcome to the IHoP
Little things that annoy me - when I get ice cream on campus, people love to stand next to where the utensils are and yak like there's nobody else in the world, yet look at you like you're an alien when you say "Excuse me" and cut in to get a spoon. Wake the fuck up, people.

But at those frequencies, you're talking about your left asscheek resonating before the right one.

Given the right drivers and enough cone area, to the limits of audibility...now, it might not go as low as a pair of 14' high TL's

You never have a really large, vulgar sign handy when there's a blimp nearby

Two BTL 18's Enclosure Questions
If you want a peaky response...be prepared to get one Then again, you're getting BTLs so a smooth response probably wasn't in the cards from the beginning...

Welcome to the IHoP
Under $200k is a scary place to be around here. The problem is, as long as there's a hint of proximity to the school they'll charge insane amounts for heaps...until someone razes it and builds something good on the land. Just seems like there hasn't been a lot of turnover on the old construction yet. Go 20-30min out from the campus and it's normal again...

Welcome to the IHoP
Some highlights from house-hunting in the B'burg area: A house where the previous owners removed all the doorknobs, all lightbulbs, and all plate covers from the outlets Walking into a house with 60A electrical service Going down to the basement and seeing large, red hydraulic jacks holding joists up A pile of wet carpet on the basement floor, a garden hose going into a locked room, a property with obvious drainage issues and a nervous expression on the realtor's face

More like downright scary...

Welcome to the IHoP
Walls are no problem. My parents' house is timberframe; tons of open space. The second floor is almost completely open, because there's no attic there's basically 25 feet of ceiling height to play with from the second floor up. Anything that has a hint of stage height just goes up and up and up and up. That's how we get the Xmas tree up there

What can I expect?
If you're looking for a great sounding SQ setup, you've got a lot of work in store for that

Short of a forklift I don't think it'd be possible.

Welcome to the IHoP
I have a perfect spot for them, I'm just trying to figure out how I'd get them upstairs...

Welcome to the IHoP
I haven't built anything from Decware yet, but a pair of Imp. horns is on the eventual to-do list...
-
What can I expect?
Yes. What do you have for the front stage?

Welcome to the IHoP
I used one of their amp designs, sure Awesome little amp... Ramos had a Wicked One for a while. Absolutely amazing what that box sounded like for the drivers he used...

Welcome to the IHoP
Dammit Jim, I'm thinking something more like Voigt Pipes, not something as complex as the Frugel-Horn stuff. You and your ideas get me into trouble. The newer Nagoaka-style BVR's that they have posted are cake to build, the more traditional Japanese horns are a buttload of wood, yes. I don't think Voigts are worth it if you're already at BIB's...the C&C Abby is a perfect example of a Voigt pipe...

Spawn of Frugel-Horn.

Better than ID Max or D9 ????
Huh? Have you heard both, in each application? What alignments? What material was played, and how did you calculate those ratios?

Better than ID Max or D9 ????
Leave it out in the sun for 40 years, play test tones...
