Welcome to the IHoP
Still have a pair of cubic foot cabinets that I could put something in.

Welcome to the IHoP
This winter will be spent...doing absolutely nothing because I've hit the limit on what I can put in my apartment Can't go bigger than the BIB's, can't do TL subs...

Welcome to the IHoP
Let alone lifting something that requires 6 sheets of ply per side.... I have big friends

What about Italian dicks?

Welcome to the IHoP
And BIB's are actually very small for horns, the footprint is next to nothing. Compare that to something like a Decware Imperial Horn...I wouldn't have a chance at even getting that up the stairs.

why do they have to be that big? Those speakers actually require an enclosure that big? Hoffman's Iron Law. If you want lots of output with not a lot of power, and the speaker you're using doesn't have a lot of linear travel...there's going to be some big peekas goin' on. You can run Eminences (and Fostexes, for that matter) in bookshelf sized enclosures, but they wouldn't have balls in the midbass.

Kicker EQs and active crossovers a good idea?
ADS made some good stuff, DLS makes a good 7 channel, Eclipse has a 6 I believe, pretty sure Helix and Brax do as well. None of them are cheap

Looking for a good DIY woofer/midrange...
As long as your amps are capable of it, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Where it gets interesting is if you're using passive crossovers, then you have to start taking impedances into account because it shifts Xover points, but running active you have no problems

NEW TO THE FORUM, STARTING A BUILD.
yea sorry i meant to put that..... i already have a good active crossover, Coustic XM6. but do you think two 6.5's and 2 tweets will be loud enough to be heard with 150+db bass setup that i am doing? ...Turn down the subs when you want to hear the front stage?

Don't get hung up on the impedance. It'd be tough to find something better than the Nextel in that price bracket...

T/S Parameters for 18" BTL
A true TL for 2 18's would be the size of a refrigerator, and that's with a folded line. With a straight line, you're talking about something 14 feet in height...

Welcome to the IHoP
Are you guys staying down there for the weekend? Call me if you want to do dinner one night or something, I do kinda know the area
-
T/S Parameters for 18" BTL
I design boxes when I have to If I really care about the results, I'll do it by hand...or if it's for a specialized design I'll talk to people who have extensive experience with that design...like Martin King's MathCAD models for transmission lines.

T/S Parameters for 18" BTL
BB6 is crap for designing an enclosure, and he should have all the specs he needs there anyway.
-
T/S Parameters for 18" BTL
About the only spec that could potentially be useful that I don't see listed is coil inductance...the rest can be derived from the specs already there, like maximum impedance at resonance or efficiency (as opposed to sensitivity). What is he doing that he needs other parameters?

Kicker EQs and active crossovers a good idea?
That's the general idea...although you don't need three two-channels, a four channel and a 2 would work just as well, or a single 6 channel...like I said before, doesn't really matter how you get there but that's what you need to be able to independently control them.

Cool. Did you ever experiment with BIB stuffing before you got rid of them?
