It's not your job to make sure other people's setups sound good. Ultimately, it's his money, and if he truly wants something that'll sound like ass, I'd take the money and oblige the man. You can buy a nice dictionary with the money from a project like that

1. If it's been restored, won't need work for a while... 2. Ever notice how much it is to take a new vehicle into the shop? And you can't do most of the work yourself, there's too much computerization and plastic covers and properitary (sp) chit. At least with a straight six carb'ed engine I could learn how to do basically everything I need on a regular basis. 3. Metal is good. Metal means I'm probably going to come out better than whatever decided to run into me...

That's the one thing that turns me off about it...out of six forward gears, i'd probably be in third going up some of these mountains. However, I will never buy a "normal" SUV I'd buy an FJ40 or Defender long before that...

Mmm...MB 'Mog 421 diesel pickup on Ebay, purdy condition... I don't know why I keep considering them, but damn, I just like the ability to run things over, even if it does mean it tops out at 60mph.
