Or if you don't need quite as much gain in the preamp section, there are new old stock GE 5751's around that also sound killer...with about 70% of the gain.

Read the description...they're not lying. All the reviews I've read of the Yugoslavian tubes say they're great when they work, but they have a tendency to become microphonic at times. The Ei Golds are just hand selected ones for low noise and microphonics.

Same with sovtek guitar amplifiers. Don't care for them <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't even knew they made amplifiers The only tubes they make decently are the 61NP dual triode, and the 6BM8, which is a bastardization with a triode and pentode in the same tube. Those can sound alright...but their 12AX7's are mass market junk.

Now all he needs is to get another in Dr. Pepper Metallic Red
