  1. Go over to DIYAudio.com, they're a darling with the home audio crowd. Been thinking of getting a pair of their full range drivers to stuff the spare bookshelf cabs I have sitting at home, doing nothing.

Don't see why not. Needs to be written in a manuscript, so if I write the lyrics down, should fit Steve is a good idea, any others? Oh, and Elias - my 9835 will run circles around a 9855

Hmmm, I need to think of something to write for my last speech... Needs to be an - Introduction, like I'm introducing someone - Presentation...an award presentation of some kind - Toast - Eulogy - Tribute I need to think of someone to write a speech about...would like it to be funny. And yes, Chuck Norris has already been done.
  4. Now Kent, it isn't nice to give the bird to the ladies... Well, except for Shanna. She's exempt from that rule.
  5. Not bad. What's the onboard fuse ratings on it? Just wondering if it'll run off of my bench supply...so I can do a head to head with the SV811's.

Good case of "fuzzy math" right there... -9 points because of questions -25 points because that Tom should get a haircut
  7. Check plus
  8. Better members? Try it...come to the dark side...you'll never go back to IE again.
  9. The can of Sprite goes with the car...not sure if that was intentional or not

Hmm.... I can't believe I'm even considering replying to Ben's email to me, but I'm considering it. Need to think of what I'm going to say if I do.

And if someone ends up like a human pincushion, well, that's just too bad.
  12. Moreso than the physics of sound, ease of construction is probably a big part of why you don't see tons of true flat coned speakers out there. It's tough to get a triple joint to hold up under those kinds of stresses, as eD found out with the first run of 15A's. The joints on a conical driver are much less demanding...

    That's what heatshrink is for.

I loved getting my doors apart...pry the window crank off, and the entire plastic panel comes off with six screws

Shanna, you're missing your chance to see my apartment a total mess...several projects going on at once. One of them is fixing this: Battle wound on the Rava cabinet from moving it out of the dorms last year...chipping particleboard was only going to get worse, and it looked like ass on hardwoods. On carpet you couldn't tell as much. In this pic I already filled it with some wood filler I had lying around. Cut those over the weekend, fit perfectly on the side skirts, three coats of poly on red oak. Can't even tell a difference once it's dry. And these won't chip when I move it again...ever.
  17. We had ours at a newly-constructed venue built next to the Duke hospitals to impress rich pricks...big dance floor, tables, impressive place. I think I stayed for maybe 25min, danced with the GF a couple times, then hauled ass across town to my friend's house with everyone else. Being woken up in bed with flashing red and blue lights, flashlights and voices telling everyone to get out of the building isn't exactly what you want to have heppen...we were both pissed. Turns out some neighbor had called in the idiots outside as being disruptive - which they probably were, there were easily 90-100 people at the place when the cops arrived. Walk outside on the deck, and there are six squad cars of Durham's finest surrounding the place. On a noise disturbance call. Riiiight. Anyway, it was about 4am when they decided they had bothered us enough, and we went back in and proceeded to continue where we had left off...

Many drivers = lots of Vd = not a lot of individual displacement needed. Also lowers distortion due to nonlinear travel.

Even hot dental assistants aren't enough to make me look forward to going. It's always like, yeah, this won't hurt at all - and it really doesn't, but you have enough tools in your mouth to rebuild an engine. And tries to start a conversation with you. It's like...errrrrr, ummmm, aaaahhh, uuggggghhh... And he always takes this sharp, pointy hook thingy afterwards and starts pushing in...deep. Then asks if it hurts. Yes, it does, you twat.

I've ridden a normal one, and that was scary enough for me...at least at the helm of a boat, I know if anyone hits me I have a good chance of (swimming) away...

They aren't horrible...perhaps not my first choice for HT drivers though I don't think I've ever seen that many in one place

May just go on campus for something...problem is finding parking. Only open spaces are a ten minute walk from anything, this time of day...
