Anyone seen Steve (Chevy350TPI) lately?
I was wondering about that a few days ago as well... Maybe he's been busy with union crap...hope he's alright

Impedance Rise > Me
Yeah...at about volume 28 out of 35...although as Jmac posted, my 7894 has the same problems with low preout voltage as his 7893 does.

So, for those of us who don't care about enclosure size (*cough cough*) and are looking for the ultimate SQ alignment for this thing, what should we be looking at? I *really* like the idea of a single driver like this capable of destruction. There's something about saying..."Oh, it's only one 15" "

Impedance Rise > Me
Sooo...got a bit of a rude awakening today. Found out my e12a is actually presenting close to a 10 ohm load to the PG Tantrum 1200.1 in box - impedance rise is killing me. The sub is a 2 ohm DVC currently wired in series, and it's close to 2.5 times what I was thinking the impedance was. Pardon the extreme n00bish question, but is such a drastic rise common? It just feels a little strange running my sub at a lower impedance than my amp is rated for (if I drop it to 1 ohm), but if it models out well, hey...that's what I'll do.

DIY component choices
I already sent a PM to Ology...and yeah, the CX62's were ones I was thinking of.

DIY component choices
So...I need new door panels. I figure while I've got those off, I might as well sound deaden the doors. Then, I figure I might as well upgrade my coaxials to components 80wpc to the Boston FX6's just isn't cutting it anymore... My criteria: * 2 ohm impedance preferred. * At 2 ohms stereo, my PG Tantrum 500.2 does 250W/side. * Going to be mounting the tweet in the A-pillar trim...I prefer the sound of silks over metals...at least for all the ones I've auditioned. * The mid is going in the stock door location, with a 6.5" cutout...I don't know the max. mounting depth as of yet, but the FX6's are 2 1/8" inches deep. So that fits without a problem. * I listen to a lot of classic rock and jazz...so a goodly amount of midbass is a good thing * Budget is...whatever's reasonable I could see myself going to $250 for this...

Welcome to the IHoP
I think I need some DIY component assistance. Have a few ideas/criteria...but I'd rather get some input from those who know better than I

Welcome to the IHoP
i need to go to the junkyard this week and pick up some new door panels/handles. Then I could start deadening the doors. Who knows, maybe even start a DIY comp project and replace the coaxials...hmm...

I'll also be taking plenty of pics...but I left my USB cable back in Carolina...so I won't be able to upload them for another week or so

hey
You could always set the amp to produce less power...I've got my Tantrum running at about 1kW for my e12a.22.

In that case, get everyone in one room, and tell everyone, including your GF, the way it is. You do have half the say of what goes on in your house - so either they go or you do. I'd say it's a damn generous thing you're doing, more than I'd ever agree to do. They have to respect that...if they don't, it's time to put your boot down.

My new babies!
I don't know...I'm still not convinced. The wiring I ended up with costs about as much as the Omni's, and the Klarity Kables were around $40 for a few sections of it, but I bought them for the construction quality, not the SQ merits. Can you really say that your cable made your system more dynamic, opened up the soundstage, etc? Personally, I have a hard time seeing how they can :/ I would swap out speakers, amplifiers, etc...before even considering cables as a way to change the dynamics of the system.
